Am I missing some sort of setting here.
Was playing Lost Epoch right before Diablo 4 opened for early access and in that game I could have move just be move and basic attack just be basic attack.
Other then creating a macro in Razer central or using shift constantly.
Why does my basic attack move my character.
It is so nice on console to just sit there and swipe all I want. But on PC I can’t have this setup?
Maybe I am stupid and doing something wrong.
Guess I could create a button macro in Razer Central and have shift and basic skill go off at the same time?
If I am not wrong about this can we have a fix for this please.
You haven’t played any other diablo game have you? The basic attack unless it’s a projectile attack has always moved your character to the target.
If it’s a projectile attack and you are using mouse and click the ground instead of the target it will also move you unless you hold down shift.
This has always been the case in diablo games controlled with mouse and keyboard.
So I’m guessing you’ve not ever played one before.

I have only played POE, Lost Ark and LE on PC.
I did play D3 on console.
So I guess I am wrong about this.
Still doesn’t make sense how console can do it but not PC?
It’s fine I created a macro in Razer App. Works exactly how I wanted so I am fine with it for now.
Would still like to see more movement options in the future.

Shift + LMB
You will stand in place and attack.
I long created a macro for this even in D3, I personally bind left-right click to E-R, but of course you add a shift input to E.
Having to press shift for left-click to not move is dated design. Just like optimal movement requires use of the force-move key.
You can also unbind movement from basic attack in the settings. Then you can put them on two separate buttons.
yes this is in keybinds under options …I did this and life is way easier no more holding down shift
I tried every setting FOMO. Every time I hit basic skill my character moves no matter what I do.
I made a separate profile on Razer App. I bound Shift+2 to right click. Left hold position as shift and made 2 basic attack in game. It’s not perfect but will have to do when I want to chill at the PC and play.
Melee basic attacks require your character to move towards the target otherwise you are just standing g there waving your sword, dagger or axe in the air doing nothing.
We have no other way to make our characters move on OC except the mouse (not bothering about controllers) so the left mouse button does double duty as move or move/attack.
The devs didn’t put WASD movement into the game for some reason so blame them.
I can’t screen shot it right now. Are you on PC? There is definitely a setting that splits your basic attack from movement. You have to uncheck a box, then bind move and attack to two separate buttons. I think it may be under controls. But maybe someone else can confirm?
Welcome to diablo, This is not new. If this is not what you want to play like, use a controller or customize your keys
Fair enough. So we have move and interact together or separate. Or move attack together….
I don’t blame the devs I would just like them to catch up to the current ARPG meta.

Yea there are separate in game settings.
You can pretty much do it however you want.
I have it so left click does interact + movement, but movement is unbound and interact is unbound.
So how do you have attack but not move?
I just never attack with left click. I bound basic attack to right click (hold shift to hold position), then my skills are Q, W, E, R, D.
F to evade. Space Bar for health potion.
Yes but right click still moves you into range of the mob so you can attack. I don’t want this to happen is all I was asking for…
As some people have pointed out this is the way it is and that is diablo so live with it. So I modded it. Is what it is.
There is literally an option to attack and not move. Its Left Shift, but I bind it to Space and move doge to E.
So, for me, holding Space and attack, it stand still and …performs the attack without moving.
And yet other ARPGs have the same functionality, but also allow you to set an ability to always cast without moving, without needing a hotkey for it.
Hold Position Toggle is almost exactly what we’re looking for, but it also prevents you from moving if you’ve separated Attack and Move. Ideally, Hold Position Toggle would only hold position in regards to Attack commands, but Move / Interact command would still function normally.
