They don’t take up inventory space. They’re no different (it would appear) then any of the other million items we just have to run over to pick up. So what is it about them that means we have to click to pick them up? Is there ever a reason we would not want to pick them up?
This is to shifting the responsible and protect the devs so that potential rioters can no longer use the excuse of a bad drop rate for Scattered Prisms to start riots.
Just a guess… something in their coding that doesnt auto pickup anything with a legendary tag. Is there anything else orange that gets picked up without clicking it? I don’t recall really. I dont pay much attention. I just click on stuff on the ground as I pick up everything.
the devs have already made the choice that some of the items in the game, even if you forget to pick them up or miss them, are so important that when you go to your storage chest they will be there first thing.
what i am trying to say is runes deserve to be put on this list of important items. so if you miss them then yes, they will appear when you open your storage as do some of the other ‘important’ items in the game. the functionality is already in the game. i am saying just please apply it to runes. and also to scattered prisms…
I frequently have scattered prisms in the temporary tab on my stash tab. They are sent there if you don’t pick them. This season has taught me to leave so much garbage laying around and I know x or y will go to my temp tab and how much space it has to utilize vs what I actually pick up.
Correct on both these counts. Items you have to click on and interact with are items they want you to notice, that they want to feel a bit more meaningful.
It has nothing to do with “no gear” though. Gear drops, just not usually the gear someone is targeting for a specific build. People tend to follow guides instead of using what drops and figuring out the best mix of skills to maximize it. Which is not as powerful as the BiS builds, but quite fun to do.
Agreed, if I understand this right. Anything Legendary coded including mats/socketables should show up in my stash. I realize stash has a limit to how many it will bank though so that may impact farming routines people have if they have to go back and clear it out more frequently due to mats/runes taking up slots.
They ARE against the EULA though. Blizzard does not allow any automation of their games in any way. If you can’t do it using in-game controls, don’t do it using third party software/macros.
They are not going to change that stance on automation. They may change game mechanics to make them less frustrating, but they won’t allow scripted cheating like that.
Figuring out the best mix of skills? Using what formula on the character sheet? Where does it tell you that having more of X and less of Y will net you higher overall damage based on interactions between Skills and Paragon?
Some people may enjoy that but personally I prefer actually playing the game and killing mobs to sitting around mathing out an optimal build and adjusting for each new potential piece I pick up.
They opted to make no clear indicator of your actual attack power.
Correct. They wanted players to figure it out on their own by experimenting and trying things. That worked in D3 where there was no penalty for re-specing and where we had a very simple skill tree.
With D4 it is NOT so easy to just play around with a build - you have to commit to it and there is a cost to changing it. With no in-game indicator of how synergies between gear and skills work, it is just a shot in the dark. That is why many people use guides.
In this case I agree that there should be a better way in game to see how your build and gear will perform. People don’t need the BiS to perform well and do content - they just need to feel powerful enough to enjoy it. For the average player anyway.
