Why Diablo 4's combat is boring:

Yea, don’t get me wrong I agree with you. I know what it is . But, fortunately, or unfortunately, depends on who you ask, PoE 2 have successfully generated a souls like experience for ARPG that is apparently a real hit …

Souls like genre is niche, but it has a solid core player base which really into it. And they are proud of that they can play the hardest content ever created and their ego is huge. It is what it is. Even PoE 1 OGs are not safe from saying anything negative about PoE 2.

D4 players can’t handle dying or combat. They just wanna one button spam disintegrate everything.

Just from some posters that actually like where the game is going. They specifically say that’s what they like and that’s how the game is played right now.

Also the twitter poll where over 60% said keep sb broken so they can spacebar through a 150 pit in less than 2 mins.

depends, can’t handle meaning dislike dying ? frustrated with dying ? or both ?

Would it be right to call people which enjoy dying masochist as some comment out there are saying about such players ?

I don’t think it is fair to say that though.

If there is no risk of dying then How can you even call it playing a game.

you can die though. Even in D4, I died plenty of times, everyone died at one point in D4 as well.

I don’t think that is the problem. I think it comes down to personal preference , tolerance, and enjoyment level. I don’t think anyone want a game where you can just never die, unless you use cheat code lol

some players don’t find it fun when dying repeatedly , but is ok to die occasionally here and there. And some players absolutely have 0 issues with dying over and over again for instance.

Ib feel powerfulwhen i wrestle down a Dude WHO IS larger and wheights 30 pounds more.

Not so much when i wrestle down a toddler.

D4 IS boring and Not a Power Fantasy.

ITS the equivalent of Elevator music.

I’d argue that D4 is everything about power fantasy lol. And a lot less about comparing who ego is bigger.

It doesn’t feel like you’re stuck in an animation as much in D4.

Pretty scary, yes. Also lightning scarabs, certain wraiths, and Iron Maiden mobs. And vipers.

Fanaticism aura was scary for the longest time. If you saw/heard it, you had to seriously consider bypassing whatever was around the corner (if not well geared). Eventually they nerfed it (& monster auras generally).

Trash mobs in D4 are truly trash, and it’s honestly quite sad.

Yes there are people like that and they do advocate for it. Citing they just want to relax and chill and anything more than one button disrupts that and exp loss on death should never be a thing.

Personally I think when a character can die it brings a certain element with it. When you start to lose exp and equipment you gain respect for the game. Some might argue it removes easy mode others would say it’s unfair. For me I feel when you die you need to pay attention and get better the game penalties remind you of that. Especially if they are harsh.

D3 got so bad that if you so much as had to stop to cast it was a bad build. D4 is heading squarely in that direction.

With the way D4 is now set up, you should never die. If you do, it’s because you foolishly pushed the difficulty too fast, when it’s just a net negative to do so.

Well that doesn’t happen with many builds tho, I have a companion druid alt (B tier build according to maxroll), he has 2 GA stuff 12/12 mw correct tempers and mythics and it can handle t4 but will never oneshot duriel or any torm boss.

Most of the builds are not played as sb quill volley, we always have like 1 2 op builds each season then the rest is much slower.

Poe2 might be slower (endgame is still not explored), but poe 1 mapping is actually faster than f4. 1 button spam to clear the entire screen and zoom forward.

Well you have fun wrestling dudes

DIV combat: Boss quiet just standing there throwing out an attack here and there. You just pewpew it down.

PoE2 combat (Act 1 boss after starting area):

  • talking/yelling at you
  • actually moves a lot fighting with multiple nice skills

only 1 cm HP bar left… Yippieh boss down soon!!!

  • boss transform into huge fluffy wolven creature and again speaking & yelling at you… hes sooooo HUNGRY and HANGRY!!! For the extra bit of ROARITY :wolf:
  • you do good damage to the wolf and suddenly it vanishes. Now you are in an icy round mini arena. Remember Ice Of The BEast? Yes you have a mini ice of the beast fight inside this fight  You have to kill minions inside while you have to dodge the wolves attacks while he is shooting thrue the screen all time.

After you have beaten the boss you think: Awww… now take the caravan and relax a bit killing normal monsters that you can easily kill but hey the monsters can do this too if you are not aware

But noonononono no relax here. You will want to pass the new area to a 2nd area to get your new Act 2 waypoint. But there you go. Another boss awaiting you. He nomnoms you if you are not lucky. So another fight. Looking at the attack pattern.

Im playing a selfmade (yes. me. doing selfmade build. its so easy and comfortable and every word is explained in a tooltip. awesome!!!) Poison RangerHunterBowman build. For me running in circles, dodging (if you dodge a lot its like dancing to a song evading the loud parts (boss attacks) worked instantly.

The movement may look clunky and feels like steering a heavy kettlebelt on ice sometimes but for boss fight and general fighting its really good and easy to learn. I had worries but now i adjust moaaaar and moooooar

See you in Wraeclast :star_struck:

BTW: BEWARE of… C.O.R.N.F.I.E.L.D.S. (mad giggling)

Keep having fun. Did they buff it recently. I am not seeing the souls combat, feels like D4 with a different resource mechanics, which i prefer tbh, but i click monsters die part feels like a arpg is a arpg was hoping for more souls-like mob combat tbh.

Still feels like a power fantasy, with harder boss fights lol. :man_shrugging: presentation though 10/10 over d4 bosses.

Overall Both are good, poe has more polish.

Thats basically every arpg

This isnt poe should be on there forum praising there game

lol i was replying to the person above and look at that post and you cherry pick me. dude.
lol.
I am talkin about both games. lmao. Overall both are good is what i said, and imo poe currently has more polish, but i also said i don’t think its this slow tactical souls like. Hype.

So out of me and the post above which fits your accusation better? i think above.

poe is diff game. Is no comparison and everyone wants every game tailored to there liking. Never gona happen
