Why are World Bosses so useless?

I just cant understand the idea behind having World Bosses that look so cool but are so weak and only drop generic stuff. Why not make them real bosses and each one of them with their own unique item ? Or maybe their own cosmetic items. Currently they are nothing more than wasted potential.

Well they drop boss mats so there is that… But overall they don’t really pose any challenge really. I mean the early levels in WT2 fighting a boss is actually very fun and exciting plus seeing the crazy amount of deaths in the chat is hilarious.

Once in WT4 this all changes really… They aren’t a challenge the boss dies in the matter of a 1-2 minutes or unless someone comes and just one shots it. They are trying to hard by creating so many “events” that become mandatory because now they have boss mats tied to them.

If they make them difficult 90% of community would drown in their tears.

It’s not that they are useless, it is that they do not require any raid level mechanics. When I first heard there would be world bosses, that is what I pictured: large raids where coordination for the entire raid was required. That is definitely not what we got.

That’s sort of how they marketed it 2-3 years ago… idk what happened but someone at the top got ahold of D4 and f’d it up before launch

I’m not sure if they’re on a set rotation or if they’re randomized, but in either case having them tied to specific loot may make it unobtainable for certain players who cannot fight a specific boss (or do world boss at all) due to time constraints.

Personally, I have the misfortune of always logging in when a World Boss is not available and cannot play long enough for one to spawn.

Regardless the WBs are now obsolete, they are too easy to kill and drop loot worse than a lvl 75 NMD. no point in doing them. Could have been fun but they messed that up too!

They are only worth doing for the Tree of Whispers,…and maybe Varshon Mats.

Remember when during closed / open beta wudijo was clearing WT1/2 boss solo with a level 20-25 rogue?

Initially, players were hard press to clear a world boss in 10 minutes let alone 10 seconds. But now, most players know the mechanics, and a lot of players will bring a one-shot build to clear it for mats asap.

Players have learned, evolved and are better prepared than they were at launch. What has changed about world bosses? nothing. Simply put, if you want them to not be useless the devs need to actually do something.

world boss drop neccessary mats.

also, regarding the difficulty - so far every season there have been be threads about “world bosses being too strong”. Season 4 will be no different im sure.

It is like a couple threads compared to many more, I feel like, saying the bosses are too much of a joke.

Ideally, the team needs to figure out a way to scale the bosses to the players in the zone. Since everyone has an AP value you could maybe scale off of that and then make adjustments based on class (think like a weighted average). I just really wish they remained being fun for longer than WT2 and not just 10 second loot pinata.

Its interesting because the World Bosses are very hard on WT1 when New Season starts on First Day. But after a couple of days on WT4 (hardest diff) the World Bosses die in 5 seconds lol, please tell me how this makes sense to anyones brain.

I hope season 4 fixes World Bosses but its a been a joke lately. I miss world boss having more difficulty.

It would be nice to have a Tier 5 where the open world be something like tier 100 nmd difficulty. I personally love the open world design and feeling. This game has a good open world (it needs more activities) and it doesn’t take advantage of it.

They do drop cosmetics. But yeah, world bosses are pretty useless. Let’s make them level 154 and just wreck everyone until everyone is sufficiently geared/skilled/paragoned to take them out.

People complained and:

World Bosses got their power cut and were easier to kill
Uber Lilith got her power cut and she was easier to kill
NMDs got easier
AoZ got easier
Vaults got easier and traps became irrelevant.
Anything that took time and slowed down the blasters got nerfed or removed.

Now, people complain that the game is too easy and there is nothing to do after they blast through the easy content.

IMO, the game would have been better with a slower pace, less trash mobs and more memorable monster fights. Instead of being like D1 and early D2 it has become a racing game like D3 PoE and LE so it does not stand on its own feet and bring any variety to the genre.

That is one reason why World Bosses (and a lot of other things) serve no real purpose in D4.

WE need more memorable content like the Butcher or Blacksmith (D2) or Raven (D2) or The Countess (D2). Stuff that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck when they pop up or you are preparing to enter their realm. Put some suspense in the game.

World Bosses are for everyone.

You can’t make things hard AND for everyone.

Would def be nice if there was a World Boss Rush type hard mode where you can fight them with your own 4-8 man, get some rewards, and experience a tougher bout comparable to the epic feeling of Open Beta WT 2 at lvl 20-25.

Coordination in builds and support builds felt good and fruitful to get the job done to keep people alive and further increase damage potency. Would certainly be nice to see this get attention going further.

Because it’s an online game with a bunch of people on world shards, which means that once you take all the crazy latency into account it basically has to play like an MMO boss so that people don’t just wipe to the lag all the time. Of course, that still happens plenty due to server instability, but it’d be worse if they made the bosses something more tacticallychallenging. :v:

Wut? Only a certain amount of players can be in the shard af any given time which is vastly less than many MMOs or ARPGs. You have Legion Raids in Lost Ark that rely literally on milisecond timing of attacks or it results in Raid wipes with 8 Players. They have A TON of wipe mechanics, 10-20 minute fights are not uncommon, and you have to interrupt attacks etc., and somehow it pulls it off just fine.

There is not any excuse for how Trivial World Bosses are. None.
