Why are we still rerolling the same temper 5X in a row?

You guys have made very level headed decisions with changes yet somehow i still run into rerolling the same temper into the same one 4-6 times in a row
This should have been fixed a long time ago, why is it still there.
Its just sour grapes because i bricked an item i tried so long to get because it rolled trash 5 times in a row, and im pretty much done with farming another 10 hours to brick another.
How does one roll 1 of the 6 options 6 times in a row? how? in what world does that happen?
Seriously, i dont want to roll the same thing, and i swear the game is rigged to do it as it happens waaaaaaaay too often.
I feel like i should buy a lotto ticket half the time with the odds to do so.

Because it’s not a bug? RNG does get into streaks of 4-6 of the same result, especially when the number of potential outcomes is low.

its annoying. i lost a perfect 2 GA gloves because of a dogsht tempering roll.

isnt that like a 1/6000 chance to roll a 6 on a die 5 times?
I’m very aware of rng, ive played d2 for 17 years.
This is the worst rng of any game ive played.
I’m making a post about it because its so bad, it actually gets to the point of rigging.
When you run into even a 1/100 chance, hitting that 1/100 multiple times in a row is just straight suspicious. ive gotten lucky rolls… for every 10 bricked from a repeat aspect.
Theres very real incentives to keep playing as long as possible.

RNG can sometimes be a cruel mistress. I had happen to me today. I just sat there dumbfounded as the same affix kept popping up.
Still prefer this system over the old one though.

-In my opinion they should have at least by now made it so the same temper affix cannot be rolled after it has just been rolled.

-I genuinely FEEL anxiety and anger whenever I click the tempering tab at the blacksmith and I’m not used to getting feelers like this from games. Grrrr/errrrr. Grats, Blizz?

That will never happen, bcs someone in Blizzard really thinks we like to reroll for better value at prefer affix

Not like you are thanking to all unholy if you are lucky enought to at least hit two affix you want

Becoz this tempering system is a gambling machine…and you should wait next season for an extra scroll to start over this dumb machine if the first try failed…

This is issue with RNG design.
We can only speculate that Blizzard put for the most needed affixes low probabilities for them. It is obviously visible that is something wrong with RNG, when I roll Spear Probability (which I need) and I get 5x times in the row Ice Blades (which I do not need)…and it repeated many times like mantra.
RNG should be always be controlled by designers by making special clamps for that events to protect players from ugly odds events…otherwise game can be annoying. For example maximum clamp for same affix probability should be 3 or 4…after that RNG should be forced not to use it in next roll or next/next roll.
I believe that Blizzard control a bit RNG (same story is in D3)

They could halfazz fix the issue if they’d approach it like enchantments. Instead of 1 roll, you get 3 options. I can already hear, “BUT SOME ONLY HAVE 3…” so what. There’s nothing wrong with letting players just do the thing. You are still not guaranteed any perfect rolls, or even a roll you can use, but at least the chances would be improved. Idk what the obsession with gambling is, seriously…

The short answer is because Blizz is focused on VoH and doesn’t care about current issues, only stringing us along until the next season. It’s been a very consistent rhythm of “we hear you” followed by disappointment.

Because the stats are weighted. Some stats have a higher chance to roll while others do not. Plenty of posts about this already and some math behind it. It sucks, but that’s why.

Odds of winning lottery 1 in 300 million tho.

I got 6% dodge chance 16 times in a row across several pieces of gear trying for total armor. The 17th roll, it changed to max life for 3 rolls. :man_facepalming:

But not on multiple items in a row. Something is off. I could see if it happened every once in a while, but it happens quite a bit.

They are coping and trying to gaslight you. I’ve been playing games with rng for 20+ years and the results you get in d4 are not the norm. Sure it’s possible to get the same result 2 or even 3 times in a row. But going beyond that you are reaching levels of chance almost impossible to reproduce naturally.
The failure lies in that computer based rng isn’t true rng and it can run into issues where you get insane amounts of repetition. Most rng models have to encode some checks to make sure it doesn’t get stuck in loops like you see in this game. It’s obvious they didn’t even consider it and the z team diversity coders who were in charge of the rng system have no clue what they are doing.

The math the has been posted proves that they are not weighted not that they are weighted

The math that supports that they are not weighted has been posted. But does not prove 100% without a doubt that it is absolutely not weighted and leaves room for everyone continue to believe the system is rigged. FTFY.

Bro, c’mon, you’re telling someone on the Internet that they’re wrong. It’s not going to be well received.
