Where is the PS5 Pro Enhanced features?

I have a Pro

I have a 65 inch samsung QD-OLED

I can very much tell a differnce if a difference is there. Only Spiderman 2 and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart showed any kind of signiticant improvement, the rest are barely noticable even while switching back and forth between consoles

I have an LG G4. Besides higher framerate what is enhanced srsly. Stop gushing over such a minor insignificant update @vswift

It would be nice if someone from Blizzard could tell us what is going on.

Diablo justs look a bit sharper on ps5 pro… btw enhanced graphics still have low fps…

Dunno why some people is saying that there is much difference between pro and ps5…

only a few people huffing copium are seeing night and day difference. rest of us with a pro see small changes due to the extra horsepower and eagerly await/hope for news on something significant.

I cant even agree on a higher frame rate. Where ?

I had both PS5s hioked up and switched back and forth and had to stand 2 feet away from my 65 inch OLED to count pixels on corner buildings and tree leaves to barely see a diffeence. Im still not even sure if there was an update at all

Glad to see people are starting to see there wasn’t much of a visual upgrade at all. Wake me up when the game runs 60fps with raytracing on PS5 Pro.

right? i don’t get why they’ve tweeted twice about it but there’s negligible difference. really hope patch notes say something

Edits: Corrected information after further testing. More detail in conclusion.
There are minor differences.

Currently you do get minor visual gains on PS5 Pro.
I would go as far as to say 4 out of 5 times you try to directly compare you can’t find any differences though. Meaning for the most part you wouldn’t notice unless you know exactly what to look for.

With news articles etc all inconclusive by quoting people here/on twitter instead of doing their own research, some people saying yes, some no.
I said, “fug it, I’ll test it myself.”

I then recorded three scenes in ProRes HQ at the same day/night cycle from both consoles, changed the graphics setting to compare with/without enhanced visuals and overlayed them in a video editor. This ensures files are as lossless as possible and without any TV image processing.

PS5 DIV Info Version: 1.068.000
Build: 2.0.4.59380
Date tested: Nov 15th 2024

Looked at Alabaster Monastery (Night), The Cursed Bay (Night) and The Swamp of Vanished Souls (Day)

Answer: 2/3 No. 1/3 Yes.

Note I mentioned in a second post below I tried 11 more screenshots to come to a better conclusion.

I found some overall ambient occlusion shadows under shrubs/foliage added on PS5 Pro in the swamp near tree of whispers during the day when comparing. Sometimes textures or decals decide to stack differently (eg this texture is now above another, rather than below). Some rocks were a different shape but that could just be randomized assets. At first I chalked the occlusion up to just randomness, further testing showed occlusion is consistently found on pro where not on regular PS5. Actual shadows casting off objects is pretty much the same on both consoles.

When I compared resolution, textures, cracks, shadows, and reflections of characters, lights, and objects floating in water is usually all the same.

So far with enhanced visuals I found one instance where ray traced reflections are actually higher resolution on PS5 Pro - In front of the Horadric Seal as per second post below. But I don’t want to play with enhanced visuals, 30fps is like a screenshot moment thing only.

The FPS on pro hovers around 70 with VRR without enhanced visuals. I saw 62-80fps. A couple of split second dips into 40s, 90 at the empty fractured peaks world boss area. Didn’t plug the regular PS5 into my VRR TV in my tests but others already said it’s higher. In any case a small % increase with VRR with no noticeable enhanced graphics could easily be considered just a brute force thing, not an official PS5 enhanced patch.

With enhanced visuals option enabled, Hz locks to 60 and the game at 30fps on both consoles. It often plays and looks exactly same on PS5 and PS5Pro. Under the right conditions you’ll notice RT reflections are actually resolving noticably more detail.

Overall only if your really paying attention to ambient occlusion, especially during the day. Shadows from objects to nearby floor, walls or other objects. Will you be able to find any difference.

If Blizzard doesn’t change text in the games graphics menu to acknowledge your playing on a Pro I will be disappointed.

Agreed on the game options text needing to be updated to include a Pro setting or at least acknowledging you’re running the game on one.

After trying 11 more screenshots I noticed the pro does a tiny bit more in seemingly rare situations.

Ambient Occlusion addition/improvement does seem to be a thing. Which I noticed more during the daytime hours in the game. It’s rare for it to stand out, especially with changing shadows.

I found one case where ray tracing in the “why is there a 30fps choice?” - [Enhanced Visuals], is actually higher resolution. By standing in front of the Horadric Seal at the Gates to Hell. Here you can see both more shadows coming off the statues to nearby walls/other statues and the raytracing effect if you switch on Enhanced Visuals is higher quality.

So I guess that changes my answer to yes but still feels like no.

I’ve seen more of a difference in Destiny 2 than I did with D4.

Thank you for doing all that. I did somethinf similiar in that i plugged both my PS5 Pro consoles and logged in old PS5 with my wifes avatar and had her join my game. Then just flipped back and forth betweeb Pro and Base. Testing area was that cave opening to the mercenary den, jusr walked around and kept switching back and forth. Absolitely zero diffeence and the ones i saw i truly believe are just placebo effect

Having played spiderman 2 and Ratchet clank rift apart, i know for a fact the PS5 pro can do way better and id go so far as to aay it shoild be able to run enhanced mode at 60fps

Cheers

It’s a pain. The fact I had to stand somewhere, log out, log back in (to solidify the characters position), take a screenshot. Log out, move to the other console, log in screenshot, move somewhere else and repeat for like 2 hours before making a decision says something.

Like even “enhanced visuals” requires very selective scenes to notice any difference.

D4 is already listed in the pro enhanced section of the ps store.
This sounds bad, but let’s hope for some improvement in the mid season patch.

However there are other games with pro enhancment (without introducing any new pro specific settings) which worked for me: elden ring, dragon age veilguard.
In elden ring the framerate is uncapped, you can reach 60fps on ps5 pro in max graphics (with rt). Elden ring is not patched for pro, it has simple a good engine using the pro’s raw power.
In veilguard the graphics mode is the same 30 fps unplayable crap both on ps5 and ps5 pro. However in the performance mode the difference is night and day: the pro has higher resolution and has some rt effects at 60 fps.

I am new to PS5 (picked up a Pro at launch). Definitely not new to Diablo on PS4, PS3 and PC since D1. I also don’t have much experience with 120Hz or VRR.

Our plasma is 60Hz. On default PS5 performance setting in Presets Menu, seems to run smooth at 60FPS.

Turning on Enhanced visuals in D4, performance takes a noticeable hit. Terrible, really.

I don’t think the update has been made. On Enhanced, I would expect identical to what the non-Enhanced is. I am hoping for equivalent performance to D3 on PS4 just with improvements because it’s D4. D4 on PS4 was/is not great.

Though not sure what I should expect with D4 @ 60Hz, but so far, doesn’t seem updated.

DW.

If there are any improvements it’s super subtle. Got a pro the other day and in all honesty D4 looks exactly the same to me.

Wow, thanks for making the video and posts since Blizzard remains radio silent on here about this.

Thank you!
Always interesting to try dive into these things.

Their tweet at x dot com
/Diablo/status/1854645008235667620
says there are resolution increases as well…
I never noticed it.
Dynamic resolution exists and those moments don’t drop as low on pro? Only applies to Enhanced Visuals?
Any additional detail I found was unique to certain objects… More of an object LoD and distance from character or camera thing…

For now I’m exhausted pixel peeping.

I just want to know why Enhanced Visuals is so taxing that it must lock to 30fps.
