Where is the PS5 Pro Enhanced features?

After spending some time playing, you’re totally correct, VSwift. I have noticed a lot of things that I didn’t see before on my OG PS5; particle effects are more pronouced, lighting/shadows are way better, the Blood Maiden’s portal in Helltide has so much more detail, etc.

I wasn’t doubting you, I was simply going off what Blizzard was communicating which doesn’t align with what is in the game. When they say “upgraded Enhanced Visuals mode” which implies you should turn that on to see what they’ve done, it’s confusing, especially when that mode provides a lower framerate. Hopefully, they’ll shed some details on what exactly they’ve done and the benefits each mode provides.

Thanks for posting that. I thought I’d gone mad!

I’m so happy though with the results!

Btw the advanced mode still gives more detail and while not 60fps I think it’s pushing 50fps with some stutters now and the. But looks really impressive.

Note the other people above commenting they can’t see a difference. These guys either have awful TVs, probably shouldn’t have a pro as they aren’t able to see a difference no matter how obvious or both!!

Hmm so if you like graphical fidelity that is the mode to go with now? FPS in the 50’s seems pretty solid still. I have an OLED so I like things to look nice.

Several people on reddit do not notice any updates. I play this game every day and upon getting the PS5 Pro I do not notice any significant improvements in graphics. If there are any improvements they are so subtle that it isn’t worth touting has enhanced. I play on a 2024 Samsung S90D television. If the RT mode was running at 60 fps that would be something but that is clearly not the case. I’d like to see Blizzard say something about this or see some YouTube videos showing the differences.

Yeah, I tried turning enhanced mode on and it was immediately apparent it was not running at 60 or really all that close to it really, it was jarring to my eyes. I guess I’ll stick with the enhancements we get in normal with it disabled.

So according to people the updates happened even before PS5 Pro came out. They updated a week or 2 before and enabled VRR and 120 fps support even though the ps5 vers couldnt hit that high. So apparently resolution is higher now and improved particle effects. I guess the RT effects were never that great anyway so hard to notice if that what you are looking for.

I can tell it runs better and is sharper (likely due to PSSR) but thats about it. Saying this performance mode ia the same as the old high quality mode but at 60fps is silly.

Turning on the high quality mode still looks significsntly better. Especially the shadows. I have 13 minions and when their RT shadows are added in its a night and day difference.

And therein lies my biggest issue with the PS5 Pro: the sales pitch of having fidelity modes in 60fps is a verifiable lie. In no game i played so far is the 60fps mode completely the same as the old fidelity mode. Its as sharp or even sharper thanks to PSSR, so as far as dynamic resolution, its definately the same or even better

But thibgs like RT, shadows, foiligage and npc density, particle effects that were a huge part of the fidelity mode in games is no where to be found in any performance mode on the Pro.

So the sales pitch should have been : not having to sacrifice 4k resolution in performance modes. Thats basically it.

All the other stuff, like better RT etc. Is still locked behind a 30fps mode, making them basically useless

I’m still 100% sure that there is zero improvement in ps5 pro!

Tested the game on the same lg c2, with same settings, and same hdmi cable and port.

I tested it this way:
I used a sb character, where we have fire effect on the hands.
Went Hawezar, and below the town along the east coast go to the Tidal Burrow cellar. In the cellar go to the first puddle.
In the water you won’t see the fire reflection on normal graphics settings. If you turn on enhanced visuals, sone ray tracing kikcs in and you see orange reflection on the water caused by the fire effect on hands.

Saddly the orange reflections works exactly the same on ps5 and ps5 pro. In ps5 pro you need to turn on enhanced visuals to see the orange reflection, which is 30 fps crap mode.
Ps5 pro normal graphics settings is not equal with ps5 enhanced visuals!

Unless I’m blind… The patch hasn’t dropped yet. It would be in the patch notes regarding PS5 Pro enhancements!

What you might be seeing in terms of graphical improvement on PS5 Pro right now is due to the extra GPU grunt, which will enable the scalable resolution to run higher. Many games which ultise variable resolution are seeing an uplift without being PS5 Pro enhanced.

According to the Diablo Facebook account, it has. Redirecting...

Blizzard should reply to this thread to confirm. That post is not what is in the game at the moment.

The differences in both modes is so significant some of these posts has me questioning the ability of these gamers seeing any difference in performance or visual fidelity.

It’s so shocking to me. Honestly guys there’s no point in you getting a ps5 pro. If you can’t see this you’re not going to see jack anywhere. Just return it, keep the base and live your lives.

P.s the enhanced mode is nowhere near 30 now it’s pushing onto 50

hopefully they mention something about it at campfire this week. perhaps it’s going to be part of big mid season patch.

Would be nice, but it is easy to prove that this is false. You can test it yourself.

The game has no ps5 pro patch. In normal mode we get 5-10 more fps (pathetic), and auto pssr (on a good oled 4k set it is pointless, you won’t notice any image improvement).

I’ve had them running next to each other and its night and days on both modes.

They’ve also said it’s been enhanced on launch. It has. It means it’s patched.

I’m not really sure what else you want now. At most we may see small frame rate improvements on advanced mode to push it past 50fps

I can see a the difference in base for sure and its significant, however I do feel like its just the PS5 Pro working hard at what it does.

Regarding the patch, they haven’t released a patch since the 120hz one, and i do think they intend to release one that properly utilises the pro and earn the Pro Enhanced tag. A large number of games have the tag but have not actually released the patch for it (some of the those devs even said as much), and i think its a similar case here.

I still can’t believe they released a pro console. I figured they’d skip it this Gen with Microsoft already working on a 3 prong next gen release.

I hooked up my PS5 and PS5 Pro to my S95B OLED, logged in with my account and ny wifes account, same settings on both ports, same everything.

I had to stand extremelt close to the TV, literally my face 2 feet away, and switch back and forth and did notice its SLIGHTLY sharper on the Pro. I attribute this to PSSR.

But thats it. I saw no new effects. No new particles. Nothing.

I dont know how or why youre apparently seeing such a massive difference.

Diablo 4 is not a graphically demanding game. Its a top down game and having to render extreme draw distances or complex or highly detailed sprites is not needed.

The point im making is for a 700 upgrade, we expect a bit more than having to stand 2 feet away from the screen to look at pixels. Its not Blizzards fault, i can tell that Sony dropped the Pro dev kits on devs and basically told them have somrthing ready on launch day so we can call it “Pro enhanced”.

Look at Sonys internal games: the spiderman games is what i have. Did the same test with them and its a notiecable diffence. Not just sharper, but much higher pedestrian density, actual RT reflections, far less “shimmering” on distant building and textures, and a bit more cars and for some reason, the cars all had distincitly differnt color variety rather than mostly grays and blacks, which is a bizarre change.

Its really obvious given enough time, the enhanced mode would have EASILY hit 60fps. Almost every dev interview praised PSSR and how much using it freed up more rescources to add other graphical improvements. Thats teuly the main strenght of the Pro, PSSR.

Hopefully, this isnt Blizzards one and only attenpt and Pro optimization.

Again the differences are absolutely massive. I have only three conclusions:

1/ Some of the above are posts from people that don’t have a pro

2/ They do have a Pro but have some good awful TV

3/ They have a Pro and a decent TV but have no ability to discern any changes of significance.

Honest to god. And with 3, boy are u going to have a rough time

There is also:

4/ Some have fallen for the marketing hype surrounding the PS5 Pro and are experiencing a placebo effect believing that all the games now run at 60fps with full raytracing.

It is obvious that the ‘enhancement’ is pretty minor. Again if raytracing features ran at 60fps it would absolutely be seen as major upgrade over a base PS5 or XSX. As it stands now there is little to tout as an enhancement on PS5 Pro currently. That’s why so many can’t even tell if it is working. See Ratchet and Clank pro enhancement mode to see a real upgrade.

I could tell no discernible difference in image quality between “Enhanced” mode on or off on the PS5 Pro. However, on my LG C3, with the “Game Mode” overlay on, I was seeing that with “Enhanced Visuals” turned off, Diablo 4 was running up to ~75 fps at time, but, on average, only marginally consistent above 60fps. So, the framerate is unlocked in Diablo 4 with the PS5 Pro, but it is hardly anything to write home about.
