What iconic Diablo monster from past games would you like to return and make an appearance in D4?

Pretty much as the title says. What monsters would you like to see return to the game? Personally I find monsters like Spiders and anything bug related so uninspiring and boring, They are in every ARPG game and just so unimaginitive. And there are so many cool Hellish creatures in the Diablo world being neglected it would be cool to see some of those in the current game.

Here is my list:

  1. The hidden from Diablo 1. These were so cool and scary in D1. Shifting between being invisible and visible. They fit the gothic horror vibe so well. I would love to see them return with modern graphics and be given some interesting new abilities to complement them.

  2. Gargoyles from Diablo 1 (and apparently Diablo Immortal but I never played that game lol). Again a realy cool creature which shifts from one state to another. Would be cool to see these creatures in a modern graphic engine. Specially with Diablo 4’s emphasis on verticality. Imagine them sitting a top cathedrals and columns in their stone form only to turn when the player walks by and swoop down on them. I guess you can see a pattern here, I like the gothy horror stuff.

  3. Overlords from D1 and D2. Overlords were originally Inarius’ soldiers who were turned into demons by Mephisto. Considering D4’s story and Inarius and Lilith being major parts of it it could be a cool way to write those demons back into the game somehow with future expansions.

What do other people like to see make a comeback?

Could you imagine rounding a hill in a helltide and there’s a field of those one-shot @#$%ers? All your cinders are belong to us.

The little pygmee from d2. Love those little batard

Diablo!

Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

The Hidden would be awesome if they could get the ambiance right, but I’m not sure the game caters to that long-abandoned horror motif anymore. Would be hard to do it justice.

Hell Knights would be cool, too.

“Uwaaaaaa!!”

  • Pygmy, Diablo 2 ~ their sound effects are so satisfying

“I want you to know what an actually terrible enemy to face looks like so you stop complaining about bees”

  • Black Death, Diablo, co-signed by Gloam, Diablo 2

Also just because I want an Animal Crossing x Diablo crossover some day, that’s where I want the Unicorns to come back. Perfect fit.

Yea Hell Knights are cool, but I feel like they belong in Tristram and seeing them anywhere else not associated with King Leoric is a bit out of place.

I liked those horned chargers in d1. I know we have reskinned versions in the shape of tusked charger things but they’re big warthog woolly mammoth creatures that aren’t very Diablo feeling for me

Which is why they should find a good way to get us back into a 16-floor Tristram Cathedral at some point!

Hell Knights!

Ha well I kinda hope they reserve that for some sorta D1 remake.

From D2:

  1. Fetishes!
  2. Mummies
  3. Those demons in Act IV that eat corpses and then spit them back at you. Mostly just to mess with all the Necros out there

Blood Raven, Greed, Malthael a few others I can’t think of right now

Love me some Yeti Cave.

Named devs from D3………

I’m surprised Blizzard never tried to use Demon/Daemon lore from other sources to create new things for their games. Instead they rely on the same enemy types release after release.

I would love to see King Leoric make a grand entrance

Haunted swords that randomly spawn

I would like to see Diablo show up in a Diablo game…

But besides that, how about the Hidden, or the Blood Knights or the Acid Spitters from Diablo 1?

Diablo, for sure.

Second would be the witches/succubi in D1 hell. There was something almost musical in the sounds they made when they took damage/died.

They’ve made an appearance in other Diablo versions, but were never the same.

And no, Lilith doesn’t count.
