I know some of these were already listed, but I did like a lot of the monster designs in D2.
The lacuni the feline cat people seen i desert areas in Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 was not to be seen in Diablo 4.
Abyssals the âmermaidsâ from Diablo 3 content patch would have fit well with the drowned.
Now I forgotten the name of the sea goddess in Diablo 4.
I think one see her statue in both overworld and dungeons.
One where see looks like a Naga from WoW one where she looks like a human female with tentacles/hair sprout from eyes etc.
I hope she has a future larger role in a season or expansion.
As her lore seems as mysterious as The Lesser/Prime evil,Angiris counsil and tragâoul.
Also sad the Diablo 2 mummys never returned.
Hope for both past and new creatures once we reach Kurast/Nahantu in the expansion.
Black souls.
Why? Because I hate everybody.
Diablo 1 Spitting Terror.
Dog that spits acid and goes blah blah blah blahhh
Lazarus too.
In D1, are the acid spitting dogs the ones that stun-locked you unless you had enough dex? If so, count me in on that band wagon. I feared them even as a young rogue. But later became easy, because dex plus Windforce or Eagle Horn.
overlord, blood lord, unraveler, mephisto, corrupt rogue.
- Hidden (D1)
- Great mummy, Oblivion Knight (D2)
- Lacuni warrior & Death Maiden (D3)
However most of what I think that D4 lacks is some monster families have an âArchon classâ mob introduced in them:
- A mob class that start like a mini-boss initially and then later become a part of the âusualâ monster rotation in a bit weaker form but rarer, i.e. something along the lines of - kill an Odin but then Thors appear in game
The popular/usual a/RPGs (D2, D3, LE, PoE) donât have this - but the other kind that are slower and more âin your faceâ games like GoW, KoaR, Doom-Eternal do have it and I think would work well for D4
Here are some examples of this:
- A big Vampire lord with AoE cloaking spell (cloaking everything around them for X seconds)
- Greater/charging/Spirit Rhino that summons âclonesâ of itself and charge in 3 (one in center and 2 in parallel), and these spiritual-clones also empower every other mob nearby increasing their physical armor & damage
- Frost-themed Succubus who uses the same spell like TChort does but instead of the fire-themed AoE molten balls they are frozen exploding orbs instead. To make their presence more compelling that big frost AoE also imbues temporarily other mobs nearby caught in that âexplosionâ to have a frozen projectile for next few/several Sec. (or maybe during the Orb buildup phase itself)
Throw in like 7-8 more of these in game, make them appear rarely, they arenât necessarily elites but require playerâs immediate attention whenever they appear due the ability to make others stronger or make a dark twist to the entire fight like with the Vampire Lord mentioned cloaking everyone here & there
Perhaps a step too far but think it would do better for D4 than ânostalgically addingâ things in it and changing nothing to break the large amounts of monotony in the game
To make it simple Iâd prefer less animals and more monsters
Too many straight up wolves, bears, spiders, snakes, scorpions, etc
I live in Australia - if I want dangerous wildlife Iâll go outside
Diablo.
Iâd also love to see Baal make a return.
Dune Dervishes would be a nice addition to make you take some reflect damage!
Flayers, Little tiny villages of murderous child-like beings chasing you with giant knives who may also jump on top of each other to make a flame thrower and if that wasnât bad enough, you even have undead versions too!
Oh also give me hidden back, I wanna see heads roll!
Mummies definitely were really well done in D2.
Oh no let poor old Blood Raven rest in peace lol all of the D1 characters were so sad and tragic I just canât bear to see them tormented anymore.
I guess things like Vampires and mummies were originally in other universes outside of diablo, granted they are a bit generic. What would you like to see?
He was kinda my favourite in D1 but I have seen enough of him. Again let him rest in peace. More generally I am not a big fan of bosses being recycled unless it is one of the 7 lords of hell. I am more interested in good horde demons making a return.
I did think about that, but decided there is already enough things in the game spitting poison and spiderwebs and such things at youâŚ
hahaha yes âmusicalâ is what it was
Yea, everything was so much more âadultâ in D1. Part of it was the super realistic and 1:1 lifesize artwork, the other was⌠well⌠boobs!
Yes Yes and Yes!
Screw the monsters⌠we need a 15 level dungeon with impossible odds into the depths of hell⌠where we face off with Diablo itself⌠once dead ⌠we release Deckard Cainâs soul so he can be at peace finally!!!
Hey Blizzard see this is a perfect example of how you make a game A GAME!!!
Ok⌠its no monster but they should also add the funny item-names of the gear we loot. Ok theres not much gear at the moment⌠i have to go into my cellar and cry a bit⌠i saddened myself.
For monster i also vote for the small bush people
The RMAH from Diablo 3
I wanna see a possessed deckard cain that has monk like moves with tal rasha magic and 20 feet tall shooting lighting bolts from his butt and fireballs from his eyes. He would also need to have a barb body with blue face paint
I want to see King Leoric. I want to here his banter in the dungeonsâŚlooking for his crown.
Aesthetically, I want to see him randomly spawn in stone textured dungeons dragging his sword, sparks trailing from the tip and sheer weight of the monstrous chunk of iron he carriesâŚ
âŚthen I want him to swing for the fences and hit like a truck.
To add to my post above
Witches. We seen Witches in Diablo 4 mostly friendly npc with sometimes hostile one.
But I also thinking of witches more like Adria who used blood magic a forbidden magic according to Diablo lore (seems our Necros use it pretty much thoughđ ).
But I hate the common hag type of witches I want more like pagan and ritualist type of witches.
We seen the swamp type in Hawezwar.
And the more cult like witch coven from Diablo 3 and Magdha.
But there should be more tribal/pagan like witches in Scosglen or maybe upcoming Kurast.
Maybe Reapers?
Remnants of Malthiels fallen angels roaming Sanctuary after his defeat?
I really liked the hidden, the creepy small critters than turned invisible in D1 and then attacked you from behind doing massive damage. They always kept me on my toes when venturing through a dungeon.
Another one that has been mentioned above is the hell knights, they werenât much of a challenge to defeat, but they looked really cool.
You realize those were immune to all magic except fire ?
My main was a warrior, so I had no issues with them, they were not immune to three feet of good steel
We should bring back the curse dudes from the chaos sanctuary in D2. Put the true fear of thorns into barbs.
