I think I’m in a similar boat as you. Even though I keep calling myself a casual player, my friends insist there’s nothing casual about me. I’d take a week off from work when a new season starts just to try and beat all the bosses as quickly as possible. That’s why I only play one class—I don’t want to waste time learning something new when I could be perfecting what I know.
I want to do everything in the game, but with the introduction of the Pit last season, that goal slipped away. The Pit isn’t designed to be beaten, and I had hoped that with faster gearing and better uniques in Season 5, I might finally conquer it. But, of course, it’s still out of reach.
Now, with today’s news that they’re reworking almost everything, it’s a lot to process. It feels like it leaves a forever hole in my heart.
I play eternal more than seasonal, and I’m close to fed up.

I imagine base-game changes are going to start slowing down after the expansion launches. Apparently S6 does actually have a proper theme so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Good to hear. For me, a theme is something temporary, like in Seasons 1, 2, and 3—you enjoy it for three months, and then it’s gone. But with the themes in Seasons 4 and 5, it feels like they’re adding new systems and game modes to the base game permanently. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but it does seem different from what they originally intended.
i’m going to be straight up with you, this season is the first that it’s hard for me to log in. when I do log in, I look at a stash that has been full for days, look at the character and it all feels like work. once that happens, for me, it’s not fun. it’s exactly what it feels like…work. I have the bare minimum done for season completion and I have not used/bought a pass.
I don’t even recall if I logged in today.

Not entirely, I recall they mentioned that if the changes worked well they’d become permanent (the helltide changes after S2, for example). I’m not entierly surprised we’re seeing a mixed bag of temporary and permanent changes. Though I imagine it’s going to lean more to the former from S6 onwards.
Because currently they are trying to “Fix” the game, since it’s been a mess since launch.
seasons 1-3 were probably already done upon the release of the game, thus they had to just push through those.
Honestly season 4 was a massive step in the right direction and then season 5 & 6 is just walking backwards.
I have no clue why they are trying to ruin all the good stuff they did with season 4.

Yes, that’s true, but I’m referring to the seasonal themes. Take the Season of Loot Reborn and the Season of Infernal Hordes—they already planned to add these features to the game permanently.
What exactly do you save there? and why do you save it?
“It might be useful later” is not a good excuse, considering what we learned about season 6.
Season 4 was the only season I wished it never end. Season 5 is okay with a few QOL changes but I rather they put them in season 4 mid patch. I enjoy Infernal Hordes only because how fast I can get my masterwork materials. As soon as I got my gears to 12/12 and the Crit I wanted I never step into the hordes anymore.
as a solo player that gears up multiple accounts/multiboxes I pay to win. all loot in my party, goes to me. I keep whatever tickles my fancy.
Infernal horde was a good idea in theory, But it’s only playable & Fun because of the ease of upgrade mats & gold.
When you have gear it just turns into “I just need the biggest AoE to nuke it all down fast” it turns dull fast and also the RnG aspect of the byffs is just ”Bleh”, you either get 200 or 500 currency depending on rng sometimes.
Imo S4 The pit was more enjoyable.
For example, The end boss in infernal horde is just damage sponges, They pose no threat.
Now the overslapping (Before the fixed it) or the one shots in the pit bosses were annoying, But at least you could die there.

Is that Before or after nerfs ?
Well you are right but there is no reasson to polish paint of your car if you want to switch it.
They can hardy do “minor” changes untile they finish changing core elements.
TBH I am still not happy with core game so I am glad they are doing big changes.

I don’t know anything about nerfs.
Got 22-23 ingolith per click yesterday when i did stage 6
Content neurosis.
Game is and has been schizo.
They’re on some crazy campaign to ADD MOAR CONTENT while maintaining minimal consistency - now VoH is a total script change.

Content creators who play 16 hours a day love the changes, so that must mean they’re great for the rest of us too, right? Right?

Thats what Im thinking. With a seasonal theme coming in S6 I think we will be back to normal going forward. I dont see them doing any major revamps after the expansion launches.

This and only this ever until the issues are gone.
Why the forums haven’t been spammed with only this for the past 18 months is insane.

I was actually concerned with season 5 when the loot became too easy. It was a trap. (Akbar voice)
