What Happened to Having a Base Game with a Seasonal Theme?

It feels like we’re getting a new game every two seasons instead of just a seasonal theme. Just when I think the game is heading in a good direction, Blizzard surprises us with a completely new direction every couple of seasons.

Don’t get me wrong—there’s value in experiencing an almost completely new game every six months. But based on past experiences, this might not be a good thing. Every time Blizzard does a rework like this, it tends to introduce more bugs.

Shouldn’t the focus be on class/build balance and bug fixing before doing all these complete game remakes? I purchased the expansion to follow the ongoing story and try out a new class, not to find myself playing what feels like a brand-new game.

The game has only been released for a year. Is it really necessary?

I’m just venting. Maybe the expansion will be awesome. Time will tell.

you def arent alone with that. Im honestly scared on what the VoH release will introduce in terms of bugs and problems. Especially, since s5 wasnt really a shining example of a bug free season.

I mean, i like Blizzard, but i know their weaknesses. in the end we have to wait and see.

Because the game at launch was a half finished mess. As player count plummeted due to dissatisfaction, Blizzard desparately began to rework systems for long term play needs and add in needed content. This has necessitated a few seasons that required getting the game to a good spot.

But for some reason they doing it again next season.

Yes, because the original game wasn’t well done overall in my opinion.

Outside of the speed of progression, I think every major system change has been for the better. THis progression system I’ll need to interact with as there are A LOT of moving parts and I didn’t feel like the current system was bad just too fast for my personal taste but… I was fine with it.

I’ll reserve judgment until I get to interact with the system.

I just need some time to take it all in. Maybe these changes will be better in the long run, but right now, I’m at a point in my life where I just want to relax when I play games. It feels like I’ll have to learn a whole new way to play. If I start thinking of it as an entirely new game, maybe that will help me come to terms with it.

this is pretty much how I look a (D4) seasonal playthroughs. although I have to admit, even though I consider myself a grinder amongst the grinders, i’m getting burnt out because of very little breaks in-between (D4) seasons. I’m finding myself wanting to revisit other games as a breath of fresh air, and that is odd for me once I make an investment in a (current)game.
