Isn’t a hack bruh. It is something anyone can do and it is 1 click 1 action on one client, which is well with in the ToS. You can probably even do this with a keyboard and macros.
I really dont need WASD.
Need is a strong word, but it would improve the gameplay experience for a lot of people. I do not see a valid argument so far, for it not being there.
Originally Diablo 1 was gonna be a turn based game. In the last second it was moved to real time. The control of the character in real time was so much more fun according to the original developers.
In the spirit of this WASD would only further improve the real time control of the character. So no it hasn’t been part of the system for Diablo so far, but there is no need for it to stay out of the game.
Right now with keyboard and mouse you have to target and kite/move with the cursor. Those two actions conflict constantly, leading to clunky gameplay. It is possible remedy this with WASD. If it was add’ed people could just choose which options they want play with.
The game can be played allmost entirely solo and most of it is PvE, so why can’t players that like WASD it have?
ARPG is short for: Action Role Playing Game. This isn’t a point adventure click game, so WASD which is highly Action focused move set should fit in. It has a good place in ARPG, but CRPG’s probably not. Besides it plays much like arena games and all it offers is just better character controls and more focus on the action part of the game.
I’d be curios why you would think it has no place here? Who does it hurt to have it in the game? People that care about the attention and focus it could bring is left out of the option. Consoles already plays by having a stick for movement and a stick for targeting. So they play it by dividing it up already.
Diablo is well suited for WASD and it wouldn’t break anything, why does it have feel clunky and why do I have to be taxed continuously by a problem that has such an easy fix? =)
You’ve comprimised your wrist with zero excercise, bad desk posture and no wrist supports on your desk for so long and that is the truth.
Big online projects with the potential for great and difficult moments in PvE and PvP should not be dragged down by the WASD control scheme, that includes skill use additionally, that is simply not a natural/optimal control instrument for any general audience.
Yourself and the 25 people who liked you are a disgrace to the potential of gaming and if I was leading this Diablo project I would make all of you understand that and you can either take it or lump it.
Firdt of all, its not your game. When you develop your own game, you can add whatever you want.
Secondly, there is a if not many reasons Blizz never put it in a Diablo game to begin with, including D4. Its not up to you. They have plenty of good reasons for the decision not to, whether you like it or not. Its only up to u to play their game or not.
Enough is enough. You guys have some serious problems to be this obsessed with something you never had nor is it deserved to you in the first place. Get some help, seriously.
I generally prefer mouse movement in these types of games, and for something like D2 it would never really be too useful to have WASD. There’s so many parts of the ground you can use to click to move
But in D4 (and even D3 really) the gameplay is entirely different. Mobs consistently have large AOE attacks, ground attacks, pools of damage etc that you need to navigate around. That becomes much easier with WASD, rather than attempting to click to move when 97% of your screen is a boss model
Yea and you guys can suffer with the delay of reWASD or any other utility, so then it’s fair.
Native support is simply too much of a movement and precision advantage of mouse move and gamepad.
i don’t like WASD movements in ARPG. It feels too mmoish.
But honestly there are some questions regarding world bosses and playing w/o WASD so idk for sure by now.
No it’s not, not with League of Legends existing and many games that merely use WASD for camera movement only (which isn’t WASD at all).
You need to learn the difference between WASD used in FPS games and then mmorpg’s and ARPG’s.
In FPS games, they only use the keyboard to move, it is mechnically straight forward.
In ARPG’s and especially MMORPG’s, movement AND skills come from the keyboard, which is not mechnically sound for any general audience as most people are not in tuned with keybaord as an instrument for high octane movement gameplay.
Diablo 4 will be utilizing fast movement and require defensive cc and damage avoiding, so either everyone is on the same page with gamepad or mouse move or we’re all jumping on the WASD ship if it’s implemented and there are many users with skill disaparities in using it and in an online game this is UNACCEPTABLE.
I’ve told you plenty of times before, find a gamepad that you like, there are even WASD ones like nostromo or mixbox, stop plaguing this forum and the potential of online gaming skill accessibility with your lack of care for your past gaming posture and bad habits.
Not sure if it was mentioned already but WASD is a option for Diablo Immortal on the pc. Don’t see how or why it can’t be implemented for D4
I am making my own, so far, the delay isn’t noticeable in other applications I am testing on. The code to make this work is very, very minimal. You just keyboard hook the keys and then emulate the mouse click with an offset from center of the application. I already had the keyboard hook from some old code and the window size/location from a different app I had made in the past. I was able to cobble this together pretty quickly, thanks to the OG who made the YouTube video.
I fully intend to release it so everyone can use it before launch. Hopefully the gentleman who man the YT video will release his too, and we can compare them! Some friendly competition is always awesome.
It won’t be perfect like native so it won’t be a problem.
All the closed minded older gentlemen or the older sweat lords who actually feel like they’re too old to use mouse move can enjoy it and I’m happy you for.
Nor is it your’s. The original point I addressed was “That WASD didn’t need to be in the game”, so inline with that with I made the comment there is no for it to stay out of the game. In other words, just as would admit it doesn’t “need” it doesn’t have to the case it “isn’t either”. So in other words I do not see why it couldn’t become a part of the game, so kinda like you put I’m not the controlling factor, but I do not see why it couldn’t be add’et. This a forum where you discuss ideas such as these. This forum was specifically for this topic. So I gotta ask. What are you during on this forum if discussing the topic is wrong ?
Why should I get help? Is this the type of comment I should flag as a troll post?
I can take thee heat just not sure what is being argued here. Largely you agree with me about being open. Assume you couldn’t read the subtext in it or got confused. Maybe you didn’t follow the thread or misunderstand my intend? =)
Btw I love the game and will play regardless of if it has WASD in the game. I just really would like it in the game like many others. Hence the post on the forums. It is how people let developers get finger on pulse on comunity, plus it something worth going over. =)
Not to mention it’s in diablo immortal as far as I’ve heard? I haven’t played that game myself.
Lol, I think you’re the only one being closed minded here. Your argument for not having WASD in the game is dumb and you sound like you’re just trying to argue for arguing sake.
It is cheating as it reduces the difficulty of the game compared to the intended control schemes. See below for the pertinent excepts from the EULA.
Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:
-
cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard (whether accomplished using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise), influencing and/or facilitating gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;
-

IN THE EVENT THAT THE PLATFORM DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, (a) THE PLATFORM MAY COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO BLIZZARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION YOUR ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE; AND/OR (b) BLIZZARD MAY EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER. Additionally, certain Games include a tool that will allow your computer system to forward information to Blizzard in the event that the Game crashes, including system and driver data, and by agreeing hereto you consent to Blizzard receiving and/or using this data.
Mate you should try using a controller, it’s so much better for this game. I don’t think I’m going back to K+M after using the controller.
It’s not in the game, so I guess a major company are also “dumb”.
Properly absorb the points I make and grow.
Because this “PC” game is a garbage console port.
Wyatt Cheng: “Don’t you guys have consoles!?!??!”.
