Warning email from customer support for reporting crash issue

Just to share my experience engaging Blizzard customer support for Diablo 4 crash issue.

I got a warning email from Blizzard customer support because I report the crash issues multiple times.

It is the Fenris issue and I have been experienced it very frequently which makes the game almost unplayable. Without any troubleshooting support, the customer service just replied a message that telling me to get a hardware expert to check, and if the issue is still not resolved, I can re-open the ticket.

I am good in computer hardware, and I did get another expert to check but no hardware issue found. All other applications and games, including D3 and D2R are working perfectly fine. I had followed most of the available info and suggestion on this forum and YouTube with no luck.

So I re-opened the ticket and they closed the support ticket and asking me to get hardware expert to check again. I have no clue what kind of hardware expert they are referring to here. And again, they mentioned that if the issue is not resolved, I can re-open the ticket.
This process happened 2 or 3 times back and forth.

Then today I received a warning email saying that they will terminate my account if I still open tickets on this issue. I feel that I got threatened so I will just likely stop reporting the crash issue and throw away the game, as anyway the crash is a pain. Though it is a bit disappointing that I purposely bought my i7 + RTX 4080 PC just for this game.

I’m not surprised because they are bullies and don’t care about customer service.

Agreed. I say post screenshots on all socials, tag their CS and CM (do they still have one after the layoffs?)

This kind of crap is unacceptable.

I hope the issue gets resolved.

I don’t know what to make of the story as it is your side of it, and you may have left something out. In my dealing with support on many occasions they have “punted” as they did here:

But I have never had issue with the support team threatening to terminate my account. In fact they have generally been professional even if unhelpful.

Do that becoz most likely the issue is not on D4 but on the settings of your hardware.

But you keep on passing the issue to D4’s customer support without having hardware experts to look at it.

  • You can go to Bestbuy’s Geek Squad… Have them setup your pc and tell them a particular game doesnt work.
  • You can do it yourself too. RTX cards are GE Force cards. They have GE Force Experience app. From such app, you can add Diablo 4 game on it and have the app optimize the video card settings for it.

It’s easy to blame Diablo 4 for your PC issues. But you have to have basic knowledge on how to force your videocard to go with the lowest settings just to make the game work then increased/tweak the settings accordingly until you get the best results.

Take note, even if you buy the most expensive hardware in the market, it will not work on D4 when on its max settings. So you have to trim down the settings. Start at the lowest settings and tweak it higher until you get the best results.

This game only deserve a gtx980 at best

I think I know what to make of it. I believe CS was heavily impacted by the layoffs, to include removing Tech Support totally. Rumor has it CS will be outsourced Microsoft style. They were laid off. Blizzard was one of the only game companies to still offer any Tech Support assistance and apparently MS felt it is an expense that is not needed. I don’t THINK there is a public statement so take that all with a bucket of salt. It could be wrong because this is the internet. Source for that info comes from this thread on Twitter

If you keep opening a ticket on the same issue over and over and over when CS can’t help with it, they eventually consider it harassing the GMs. They tell you to stop putting in tickets on THAT issue. It will also happen if the person is being abusive to the GMs.

At this point the only thing players can do is help each other. I think they left the TS forum up for player to player assistance. I don’t know if any Forum Support Agents for TS are left to moderate or help or not. I don’t think so. Other players should be able to help though, see below.

If all else fails, the only thing left is to file it as a bug on the Bug Report forum. That is a one-way means to just report things, not a way to get assistance or an immediate change.

Of course, if something is a recent purchase within the past 14 days and you have not played more than 2 hours, you are eligible for a REFUND. Do that. That is automated so that if you are eligible it should grant it quickly for you with no waiting around for a GM.

How come players with the super duper, hyper-mega, warp drive systems are the ones having the most problems?

I play on a half baked potato - does just fine.

Nah unlikely. If yoy keep reopen your tickets - you just get ignored by support, till the point where tickets can no longer ne reopened.
Same thing for things like facebook or twitter.
I did that numerous of times.

You mean the company that hosted frat style cube crawls and harbored a culture of sexism and white supremacy isn’t being nice ?

Maybe because Blizzard didn’t properly optimize the game to run on high-end top of the line machines. My machine is even higher-end than the OP’s & yes, I was having issues with Fenris errors too. I was able to fix the Fenris errors by disabling the in-game Voice Chat. With that in mind, it’s quite obvious to me that there’s an issue with the in-game Voice Chat which causes the game to crash via Fenris error message & should be investigated by Blizzard’s QA team which seems to have been asleep at the wheel given the utter mess the latest patch (1.3.1) is…

I was with you up till the “white supremacy” part. As far as I know, they have never been accused by that, outside of leftist white people who want to virtue signal and claim they’re better than the programmers they used to idolize.

Stop blaming white people for everything. It’s racist.

Becoz those guys thought that their hardware is entitled to have any games to work on their expensive system even if the game is on max settings. They are dumb not knowing that would not be the case. Even the most expensive hardware would not run D4 if it’s tweaked on D4’s max settings.

And they blame the game if the game doesnt work on their entitled system. Too much dumbness, so sad. Those people dont know D4 works perfectly fine with a potato system that is setup correctly.

Keep the politics off these forums while you’re at it too…

if i google fenris they mostly seem to fix it with a gpu driver update.

doesnt look like something on blizz’s side tbh. i hope you end up figuring out a way to fix it too D:

Fools didnt bother about quality and only looked at performance and buying the highest performance for the money.
Thats the issue for pretty much every entitled person whining on this forum. Buying stable components goes a long way. I have 0 issues with d4. Yes there was lag at release but after that none. For example there are i5s which are way more stable and would perform better than some i7. Understanding such and u most likely wont have any issues with most games.

THIS is by far the worst advice you can give anyone who owns a Nvida GPU. GFE is so bad, it will change settings on your games that do nothing but hurt performance. It’s best to load and install drivers manually and setup the 3d parameters yourself.

For everyone who thought that MS was going to be Blizzard’s savior how is that working out for you.

Well, I plan to find out pretty soon.

I get my 4080 Super next Monday, the one piece PSU to card power cable for it on Wednesday, and hopefully will install it shortly after.

I would like to see if I will suffer some of these problems as many others have been.

Even now, with all the recent complaints of issues, mine still plays just fine. Talked with my father earlier, his HP Omen still plays the game fine too. We both use the same internet even. (I have a wireless bridge connecting his house to my Starlink)

Outside of the updating process still being annoying, it updates, it plays fine, it doesn’t crash, give me errors or disconnect me willy-nilly.

Maybe with a 4080 Super it will. I already have a 12900k and 32GB of DDR5. But the current card is a 3070 Ti. But I’m going to find out.

I have to agree partly here. For a novice, it may do an acceptable job for some games, providing the settings it changes the game to are compatible with your setup.

However, I hate their GFE program, and I never install it. I prefer to customize my settings myself.
