Vulnerable damage - fix or remove it

After playing diablo 4 for quite a while i find that vulnerable damage need to be removed or reworked any build that is broken or able to clear easily uses vulnerable damage. and it kills build diversity. since your forced into only a few way to apply vulnerable damage per class.

It is sad to see after patch notes they did nothing to fix the problem with vulnerable simply slapping it with a 40% reduction didn’t achieve anything it is still mandatory and more so now since they Nerfed Crit damage along side vulnerable and then hit Sorc a second time by a massive Nerf to devouring blaze this in turn hurt build diversity even more since all fire/lighting builds now are being forced into frost nova/vulnerable. Vulnerable needed to be removed as a multiplier or stopped from benefiting from Crit or given us more way to apply vulnerable this was sad to see what they have done in this patch.

I kind of tend to agree that either your build is all about vulnerable damage . . . or it sucks. If there’s a way they can make those two things not be mutually exclusive I’m all ears, but I kind of thing the plethora of status ailments in the game at present are kind of bad and kind of need to be rethought. Kind of.

If after playing a while you came up with the conclusion that the most urgent problem that need to be adressed is vul dmg, I suggest that your feedback is non important

There isn’t a situation like this. You either take vuln or your build sucks. Just like:

  1. Main stats
  2. Attack speed
  3. Crit chance
  4. Crit damage

All of these stats are the same way. You can even argue CC is one of these stats because with the control glyph I can get a +100% damage multiplier easily.

They aren’t going to remove vuln and it can’t be “fixed” like you want.

The only thing they will do probably is make vuln easier to apply.

I went with a non-[name your fav website for build info] and came up with a Sorcerer that was fun to play; can run most normal content with ease, does okay in lower tier NM. But even in a normal dungeon, the once every other dungeon Butcher spawn kills the fun.

In groups I kill things faster than everyone else - melting bosses as they say with more normal and steady DPS - but will never kill Lilith. Killing Butcher takes five minutes, and depends on finding enough side mobs that drop potions. But the Butcher fight is never worth the time or trouble.

I use cold damage. One of my spells assures vulnerable is up most of the time, but I can kill without it; just more slowly.

But yes, Blizzard totally overcomplicated a simple game – probably in the hopes there wouldn’d be just one build in a class that worked. But then they made it that way and gave the streamers hints on how to beat the game fast – ruining the whole idea of build it yourself and do good.

Crit, doesn’t force you into picking skills and paragon to play your class

Yes it does. You literally have to stack crit and crit damage on gear and take nodes in paragon. You also need to take crit buffs on skills that offer them.

Tell that to sorcs who all have to get devouring blaze and the fire board to max out damage.

Look up the damage buckets, removing one doesnt make the others less important

He is still level 6 playong campaign

All the fan boys will say you don’t have the right build. Or to get gud. lmao.

They all use the same build from some site - no variations allowed for them. May as well buy a game with a preconfigured character that has zero choices. Not sure what in this game they find enjoyable if all they can prove is they follow a known recipe off a streamer.

Anyone that knows the mechanics is going to arrive at a very similar build, just how the game is designed

My Sorc never hits for millions. It’s a stream of bullets doing 50k that never stop. Well, until the mana tube is dry. Then it is kite kite kite, then more bullets.

And someone at Blizzard thinks this is fun.

World Tier 1 to World Tier 2 to World Tier 3 to World Tier 4, nightmare T20 to T30 to T40 etc…

The higher you go the more focused your build must become, and the fewer options you have.

I run a completely non meta ‘play my own way’ barbarian build that has no shout and no core. It works great at T50, and I’ve pushed it as high as T60. Going higher up is just plain hard and unrewarding for the difficulty. Can’t beat Lilith much past her first blip.

I’m playing 2 sorc’s ATM one level 100 fire meteor and the other is level 76 ice shards/blizzard.

I think it’s a pretty bad mechanic as well.

It forcing you to use it by existing aside, it’s really uninspired and boring.

you just said yourself in your own post that your necro isn’t even 100. instead of being a white knight, maybe get your character to 100 before saying how builds are viable up to 100?
