VRAM leak over time?

i still get performance loss over time, it just seems to me it happened way faster with my druid
i might also just be imagining things though

I mean it can’t be right. Why wouldn’t they acknowledge the issue ? Unless they can’t reproduce it. But hell even writting there while the game is open in the background seem to be making my whole system stutter at times lol.

Honestly i have to play a bit more before really confirming this. But stuttering became better when i switched to windowed mode instead of Fullscreen windowed. But i need a bit more time to see if that doesn’t come back to bite me. But honestly i can’t really call that a fix since it’s annoying.

Playing on high setting at 1440p on a Ryzen 5 2600/RTX 3060 Ti/ 32GB’s of DDR4-3000(Let’s not get into the bottleneck that CPU and GPU cause because that sure didn’t give me much issues yet and anyway when i builded this pc it wasn’t planned to have that GPU in and im too broke to replace also the CPU lol).

Same issue here.
I have got 12400F + 3080 10GB + 32GB DDR4. I encountered a lot of stuttering with Ultra Texture setting. If I lower the Texture to High, the issue is gone.

I remembered everything was fine in the first day of public beta. Then there was a fix in the second day and the true fullscreen mode was removed, lefting only the “Windowed Fullscreen” mode. That was when the issue started to appear.

I was hoping this would be fixed with the launch but apparently not.

Now, I wasn’t having these problems to start with, but I was getting a massive hit to my desktop performance when alt-tabbing out.

My fix was to set the foreground and backgroup FPS cap to the same value. In my case, since I have a 144Hz G-sync monitor, I capped the FPS to 150 (I generally run a bit above the monitor most of the time). This of course resulted in a 144FPS in game, and now the desktop works normally. It was on 8FPS for background, but that then forced the desktop to run at 8FPS.

While the game played fine and I never had any issues with its performance, it was crippling the desktop performance.

But with that change, its fine and runs perfectly in both places.

People having issues with CPU use spikes, might want to try changing to that setup.

But yeah, something is still very screwy with the mode and how it interacts with the desktop.

Well…sad to say if you manage to see how well the game runs on a PS5, you will be even more mad. I’ve seen it myself, better wish that the fix is in one of the long list of performance patches otherwise I can see myself quitting.

Actiz-blizz does not do this. There is no accountability. They deflect, gaslight, avoid and ignore the issue until they simply cannot anymore.

We have youtube videos with thousands of views claiming textures and VRAM on this game are simply not right. Blizzards response? Head in the sand, wait it out and ignore.

Million dollar companys are kinda like toddlers nowdays.

Same here with 5800XD + RX 6900 XT 16GB + 32GB DDR4

I have same issue. win 11, amd 2700x, nvidia 2600 rtx and 32gb ram ddr4.
Changing presets (or texture quality) is the only solution, but sometimes it freezes and i got kicked out of the server…

same here,im having 5600xt + 5600x
having 144+fps while playing the game for the first 15-20mins,
but after couples of transition to town or dungeons the fps dropped to around 120 or even less constantly.
changing any graphic settings or restart the game solve the problem temporarily.

Also having the same issues, 3700xt and a 6700xt. It seems so hit or miss on it working. Only way I have any form of luck is by putting the settings to low on textures. Been lurking on this topic sense launch honestly and still not even a response from blizz (lame). Have tried everything and still no luck.

Hi All.
I Have been reading this thread for some time now… Which is great as I have been frustrated over this issue as I just recently invested and updated my rig more or less just to run this game. I too experience the same annoying issue with stuttering as most of you guys. My setup:
RTX 3080 TI 12GB, Core I5 12400F, 32 GB DDR5, ASRock B760 Pro RS, 1TB fast WD BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD running DirectStorage from Windows 11.
So according to specs this should be fine to run the game at Ultra and Ultra textures.

I found early on that it wasn’t my GPU that was the issue, but some memory problem. What I have used for a work-around (as many of you have done) is to go to settings, and lower the Texture to high, click save and then click Ultra and save again and then return to the game.

Running the game on the high settings texture is a no-go for me as most of the joy come from the beautiful graphics in D4, so I want to have the Ultra textures.
So, I’ve been waiting for a fix for a long time (I also had this issue in Beta and ServerSlam) from Blizzard and, finally it came… At least for the last two days I’ve had no stuttering at all… . I’ve noticed some more noise from my 3080TI but, that’s OK compared I think. So to sum up… I’m now a happy D4 gamer and can enjoy this fantastic long-awaited game.

I’m Still having these issues,
Currently Running a 2060 6gb vram
Low-Medium settings.
Just hard crashed now from the game turning down the textures from medium to low.
Seems that everything i do has little to no effect.
Only downloaded the 40gb version of the game.
No issues like this in both beta’s so i am very confused.
Ran like a dream at med-low setting during beta. Minus server being thrashed and log in time issues.

Man, today was playing fine for an hour or two. I then walked into town and my computer started to freeze up. I couldn’t even close D4, then when I went to task manager it said D4 was using 50-60% of my computer’s memory…

What in the hell man.

Depending on how much memory you have, that’s entirely possible. I have 32GB, and as an entire system (including D4) total memory use is around half. The game itself on my system at least pulls about 10GB.

But I haven’t had any problems either.

Fan noise I’m assuming?

I would probably monitor the heat levels and make sure it doesn’t run too hot then.

Is anyone with this issue running windows 11? I’m wondering if the game is optimized for win 11 but not 10.

I have it with Windows 11.

And I have a Ryzen 5950x, 64GB of DDR5 RAM and the 3080TI and I still have issues.

In Ultra the stuttering makes impossible to play with frequent fps drops. But even with textures high, eventually the VRAM becomes full (or whatever it is doing behind the scenes) and ultimately not working as smooth as it should.

IT IS AN ACTUAL PROBLEM and no fixes yet.

Win 11 here and yeah the issue still is as present as ever. Support so far suggested to turn off my RGB software (so my mouse driver). Not sure what that is suppossed to do for my GPU’s VRAM, but oh well, was worth a try to contact them xD

Despair :pensive: small indie company btw :pensive:

Same issue. Never had this problem previousy - neither during the beta, nor for the weeks since the release. For me it started a day or two ago.

Now after playing for an hour or so FPS starts to drop dramatically, and then the game crashes with the “not enough VRAM” message.

I’ve done most things I wanted with my character for now, so I guess I’d wait until the next patch. Really hope they’d fix this thing by the time the season starts…
