[Unofficial] S5 Sorc Changes Post PTR

my guess is his build uses fw mainly for getting the burn multi from its tech, and hydra doing the majority of the heavy lifting. Might be fine in s5, well see.

Sarcasm? Hydra is just as weak as Firewall. Hydra has only one decent aspect. Firestarter might work with Invoked Hydra, but I think the added Hydra burn will “turn off” the aspect.

Hydra’s Enchant is also…terrible. Sigh.

no its no sarcasm. Hydra isnt that bad at all. Doesnt mean its S-tier, but its a servicable build in s5 i guess. It still needs some improvements for sure, and yes the enchant is garbage, but its playable, as the ptr showed.

  • Healing from Non-Elites increased from 0.5/1/1.5% to 1/2/3%.

  • Healing from Bosses increased from 2/4/6% to 4/8/12%.

Aspects

Aspect of Splintering Energy

  • Damage increased from [10 - 25]% to [25 - 40]%.

Lightning Rod Aspect

  • Previous - Chain Lightning has a [20 - 35]% chance to chain an additional time when hitting Bosses or Crowd Controlled enemies and prefers them as targets.

  • Now - Chain Lightning has a 25% chance to deal [50 - 80]% increased damage. This chance is doubled against Bosses and Crowd Controlled enemies and prefers them as targets.

Snowveiled Aspect

  • Previous - Casting Ice Armor makes you Unstoppable and grants 30%[+] increased Armor for [3.5 - 5.0] seconds.

  • Now - Casting Ice Armor makes you Unstoppable and grants 25% Damage Reduction for [3.5 - 5.0] seconds.

Uniques

Axial Conduit

  • Fixed an issue where the explosion was dealing much less damage than intended.

Staff of Lam Esen

  • Reworked the item’s affixes to:

    • Inherent: 170% Lightning Damage

    • [252 - 360] Intelligence

    • [57 - 75]% Chance for Charged Boltsto Cast Twice

    • [27 - 45]% Resource Cost Reduction

    • +[4 - 6] to Charged Bolts

    • Your casts of Charged Bolts have a [40 - 80]% chance to be attracted to enemies and last 300% longer.

Fractured Winterglass

  • Reworked the item’s affixes to:

    • Inherent: 25% Resistance to All Elements

    • [57 - 75]% Non-Physical Damage

    • [13 - 17.5]% Chance for Frozen Orb to Cast Twice

    • Conjuration Cooldowns are reduced by [0.1 - 0.3] seconds when a Frozen Orb Explodes

    • +[3 - 4] to Conjuration Mastery

    • Casting Frozen Orb has a [35 - 65]% chance to spawn a random Conjuration when it explodes.

Lucky Hit: Your Conjurations have up to a [50 - 90]% chance to launch a Frozen Orb at Nearby enemies.

Blue Rose

  • Reworked the item’s affixes to:

    • Inherent: 10% Resistance to All Elements

    • Inherent: 10% Cold Resistance

    • [9 - 11]% Critical Strike Chance

    • [129 - 170]% Cold Damage

    • [251 - 350]% Ice Spike Damage

    • [26 - 35]% Chance for Ice Spikes to Explode Twice

    • Lucky Hit: Damaging an enemy has up to a 30% chance to form an exploding Ice Spike, dealing [2,206 - 4,412] Cold damage. Triple this chance if the enemy is Frozen.

I use hydra in s1-4; i just like the skill. Next patch is (preliminary glance) looking like it will be the best hydra since they changed the burn tics in s1, maybe on par?

CM is a good passive, especially with 8-10 points in it.

With only the changes known so far Incinerate is in S5 stronger than in S4. Every Unique is being reworked, so let us wait for the update to Flamescar.

Frozen Orb looks super juicy now. Only issue button smashing. Will fist of fate be used, cause of the huge lucky hit chance or is + 8 to FO better.

we finally approaching 1 item sets, so each build has a mandatory build defining unique, and w/o the skill is hot garbage, absolutely despise this concept.

The buffs look decent enough for firewall PVP play.

I want to see what they do for Occulus. That will be the deciding factor on whether i reinstall the game. I would be pretty upset if they removed the random teleport.

Still crappy additive damage affix but has cooldown, damage mulitiplier on the TP. And it is on boots instead of wand which allows the weapon to still have a damage multiplier. Current main problem with Occy is that it has no damage multiplier

Im hoping the same changes are overlayed with sorc. A non overlay would reflect product design teams between classes are not talking to each other.

What developers don’t seem to understand is that having extra item slots enables those classes to have many more aspects, affixes, and tempering additions than others can have. This significantly buffs those classes while significantly limiting the classes who don’t have extra item slots. Increasing damage in some classes and decreasing it in others isn’t going to make up for the difference between having extra aspects, affixes, and tempering additions from having additional item slots. There is no reason they can’t give every character class the same number of item slots. It’s like none of the developers have ever read a fantasy book. Sorcerers are insanely powerful and can use multiple weapon types and have them available to them at the same time in most books. They don’t typically use bows or bludgeoning weapons, but many use staffs, wands, daggers, swords, and sources (focus) and have all of them on their person at once. There is no reason sorcs in D4 can’t have an arsenal like barbs do. They don’t necessarily need to have the same arsenal skill setup, but the developers are just utterly ridiculous in their presentation of the sorc class and how much more they think a barbarian would outclass literally every other class of combatant. It’s time for all of the classes to have the same number of item slots.

In their Camp Fire chat developers acknowledged the problem that Barb and to lesser extent rouge having more weapon slots is creating an imbalance.

The solution isn’t to give Sorc, Druid and Necromancer more slots. Rather compensate them in a different ways.

Talking about Sorc, rewriting our enchantment system and fixing our Paragon boards. Glyphs and Nodes for example.

There are plenty of ways to fix our class without adding more slots.

and for fire sorcerers like me, is not enough

  • no improved survivability
  • Core Skils like INCINERATE has no improvement or balanced the penalty=benefit
    burning instinct still nerfed, fire skills and damage from sorcerer compared to other classes is so worthless, that 80% with 20 int is NOT ENOUGH and it will never be.
    Combustion damage boost is meaningless as it is additive not multiplicative.
    I wont waste paragon point reaching a WORTHLESS node like BI

-paragon glyphs damage buff still worthless, additive damage while others have multiplicative, this is a joke.

  • searing heat is a joke 60% ADDITIVE is not enough. I’m a fire sorcerer.
    this without burning instinct is just a waste of time.

Do not play sorcerer, LEAVE THE SERVERS WITH NO EVEN ONE SORCERER IN SIGHT!!

  • Surviveability is improved, but giving us the old Ice Armor back would be good.
    Combustion is a 60 % multi, but the + 4 % for every different burning effect is meaningless.
    Baseskill damage up + new Int dmg scaling are another ~40% damage increase.

and Flamescar will be beefed up, too. So maybe it is the to go weapon for Incinerate now. Maybe they change Flamescar so it scales with attackspeed.

+4% Should be stackable and multi. fire wall would melt bosses

I uninstalled Diablo a few weeks ago, but as per a quick google, it appears combustion is multiplicative. So we went from 20% in S4 to 60% in S5. Isn’t that a 40% multiplicative bump?

will see what this time sorc can do. or… once again will have to take barb to party to kill bosses because he have 4 weapons and making gazilion damage
