Underwhelmed with Druid

I’ve played all 5 classes between the two weekends, and the Druid is by far the most cumbersome to play.

The skills up to the Companion level feel under powered. Killing bosses is a total pill.

I thought maybe getting a bevy of Companions would turn the ship around, but I can’t even see the Raven. Supposedly one is flying above my head but it’s not there. The active skill seems to work but does horrifically low damage.

The wolf active skill doesn’t seem to do anything at all. They barely get over to my target before it wears off.

The tornado is just like D2 in that the path is unpredictable and the aoe small. The other elemental skills suffer from weak aoe as well. The chain distance for Storm Strike is pitiful.

I’m not sure how this class gets better at higher levels. I’m going to play it thru to 25 (I hope) – but at 15 it’s been a drag.

The Companions should absolutely stay active if their spells aren’t on the bar.

Druid in Diablo 2 was all about summoning your 5 wolves, spirit, snake and raven and then either shapeshifting or throwing elemental spells at the enemy.

In here, because we can only have 4 spells on the bar, the companion spells are basically useless. They don’t really do any meaningful damage. They’re just aggro sponges.

Its pretty bad. I’m not sure where the blame is but early on werebear felt great but once i got into the teens…the damage was extremely undertuned. Either they didn’t have time to do some basic tuning before beta or they didn’t even bother testing.

I’m still excited for the game but some of these issues are so obvious and glaring that they could have been easily spotted and corrected by even a single dev playing for an hour. It’s THAT bad.

I was looking forward to the druid also. So far, not terribly impressed.

Read the skill tree and see the later game affixes. You can buff the companion wolves by a lot.
No company can make any class loved by all. So play something else or spend more than 2 hours trying to figure out the deeper mechanics before you breeze into the forums to write another useless thread

I can’t do it any more – it’s just so bad. It’s not fun at all. There’s no sense of awe, no sense of power. Druid was my favorite from D2 and it’s just not there in D4.

I actually took the companions off the bar to buff my other damage skills and it still sucks. Fighting bosses is agony.

@Las maybe you should try playing it because from your post I’m 99% sure you haven’t. Make sure to give it at least two solid hours :).

This was the same experience I had, even though D2 Druid is 20 years old, it plays so much better than this turd of a class.

Same for me I ran the Necro in the closed beta, the Sorc in the early access beta and now the Druid.

The Druid is a total let down. I keep respacing just to try and come up with something that will work for me.

Werebear is pretty awful atm but werewolf is killing mobs and bosses in a breeze once I got to rabies talent

Every class in D2 was decent, what?

My werebear is level 20 I have no issues whatsoever. Basic mobs die in 1 pulverize, elites die in 4-6 pulverize uses
AND I’m unkillable, the only time my health even moves is if I don’t dodge the mobs big wind up attacks

Werebear is fine, unless something crazy changes in the next 5 levels.

I bet it takes you 5 minutes to kill a boss. Werebear does 0 damage.

0 damage? So you’re not stacking willpower and getting overpower increases are you. Your build is wrong buddy

of course its not sorc or rogue damage, its not meant to be. Its a face tanking class. Its fine

Speaking of druids, can we even do the level 15 quest Spirits of the Lost Grove? It looks like it’s out of reach.

I was very excited about playing a druid again. I doubt I will in the final game because I don’t play characters this large. If that distraction didn’t bother me, I would just play a Barb.

I want my D2 druid back.

No can’t do the quest. So missing what could be a big buff

Yep, hate the new druid design also. I’m a D2 Druid main for so many years

Been having a blast playing landslide druid, got a lot of items for the build too, boss damage is a little whack, especially on melee bosses thats a struggle.

So far some of my complaints;

Casting delay if your character is in animation

  • If I want to activate my vine creepers immobilize, the cast shouldn’t wait until I’m done casting whatever spell I’m in progress of animation with, as its just activating an active ability for a companion

  • Not enough passive life recovery; Melee specs in general need some more passive recovery especially against melee bosses, some life steal or life on hit would be clutch.

  • Companion skill should not be required to be on the action bars for the companions to stay active.

This forum is full of no-skill players who can’t figure out how to play the game unless a streamer tells them what skills to pick and what items to wear. I’ve played every class to 25 and Druid is just fine. Sorc and Barb are OP outliers right now, but everyone else is perfectly capable.

According to this forum, all five classes are underpowered and weak.

It’s kinda a slow-mo gameplay, he obviously doesn’t lack efficiency cause doesn’t die really… I mean I could stay under CC for 5 seconds and the HP bar still be above half or something

But then kinda yes, takes forever to kill stuff in a way, think his spirit Gen. rate is too slow and Spirit waste a bit too bursty/high

I’ve found generating and spending to be more fluid than barb, but then again I was playing HoTA on the barb and they specifically called that out as an underperforming ability, it felt bad only being able to cast HoTA twice with a full fury bar, at least with druid I can cast 3x landslides with a full spirit bar.

im doing fine with druid TBH. No real issues but its just very underwhelming when compared to my sorcs experience.

I am doing caster / storm build.
Trying to get more powers to see if things get more interesting but for now its meh.

Druids needs some more touches imo.
The Tornado codex of power should just be the baseline for the skill, like cmon.
tornado also bugs out a lot too. Will either not spawn or spawn on top of things above your chars <.>, wasting your spirit.
