Two ARPGs, Two Completely Different Visions: what is your takeaway?

Can you see that there is big difference in getting EA to a game for 6 months and that same value in MTX store compared for just 30$ compared to 1 horse skin and ingame currency for 65$ dollar in a 110$ dollar game that also has paid BP, paid MTX, paid DLC and paid base game?

The value for money spend really doesn’t add up when comparing the 2. You have a lot more for far less with POE2 compared to D4 in terms of gameplay. It’s therefore my stance that D4 is more predatory compared to POE2.

   :ok_hand:

admittedly a flippant answer… game pass trial still valid… most ppl don’t play the game for more than a month per season anyway. I’d say that’s plenty of time to decide.

Yes, all of those things are true… and are known qualities of the franchise that i’ve engaged with for a quarter century.

Creating an rpg that limits your storage space to sell it to you later seems dishonest to me… and I admitted that’s an opinion.

And as far as intrusive… yes… not having to pay for QoL things as a matter of course is less intrusive to me because cosmetics don’t interfere with how I play. Limiting my storage does.

I actually do that addendum… as I have for every diablo game since 2. but the game still isn’t designed around selling them to me.

So let’s say you’ right…but, why exactly, are you posted this on D4 forums?
To educate us idiots who pay 110$ that we are, in fact, been riped off?
I will play PoE2 and than judge.

Not to mention an unfinished story as well for the Mephisto arc which will be dragged on in the second Xpac.

You’re not actually asking anything here as far as I can tell. “Balancing depth with accessibility” can mean many, many different things.

Not very concerned about monetization but decisions: I lost all my hope and optimism this season. Have been a pretty stalwart enjoyer but trust is now gone for me.

I suppose they differ in HOW many DEEP sorts of ENDGAME you want and also fluff endgame and then even -->MORESTUFF you want. I want them both to stay different and of course, I’d like them to both be of high quality.

No thank you. I don’t feel like kicking the puppy at this point.

It might be a bit too early to declare one a winner when we have not even gotten our hands on it yet.
A lot is being promised. And no reason to doubt how it is intended to be. But let’s wait till we see it. Every project can have growing pains, but I am hopeful they will meet adversity better than here also.

D4 failed on its own massively before any competition even showed up.

Comparing is not the way to enjoy something. There is room for more than one game in the arpg space, I judge D4 for being a diablo game and the improvements the team is making.

I make judgement and comparison within myself to make my own choices, of which game speaks to me, which I enjoy and that is all that is needed.

It is a cope out to ignore that things are not improving, but is poe2 is what you are looking for D4 was never going to deliver that. That is kind of like asking for Uncarted to the division for example.

All comparison does at this level is serve the ego, I don’t need to tell the world why every band, movie director fails to meet the level of “x” artist. No I have my favourite because It does something for me and the other fans.

It’s POE2’s time to shine, diablo had there time at the top, its ok to have others take the lead without pitting war against other teams and titles.

People will and rightly so ,prefer D4 over Poe, and that is fine. This is art, entertainment, and the player is the one that deserves to enjoy what they enjoy.

So tbh who cares, once D4 stops trying to be a 2nd and 3rd job with its mats grind, D4 will offer a more accessible arpg for those new to them and those that enjoy them in this style.

Just becasue the people on the tv don’t like D4 doesn’t mean others can’t.

This season was a blast so far, as I took over a month away form the game, so returning felt fresh again, and the crimson rupture barb is a gory mess to enjoy, I have since tuned it to be a no basic skill barb thanks to the changes and updates. and it’s fun. I enjoy making builds in D4 and POE won’t change that.

POE does offer me something different and even deeper than D4 to get into, and that is great, I will enjoy both, and it will inspire future games, and possibly future D4 content so its a win win is how i look at it, look how darksouls inspired other games, even god of war moved away from it’s original style.

Just how I prefer to look at things, not everything needs to be a competition or battle. A great piece of entertainment, art speaks for itself, it doesn’t need to take others down to shine. So enjoy the gems and the ones that speak to you, as there is no right or wrong choice and both can be enjoyed if you want.

I completely agree… too many resources went to the recent overhaul, and the xpac suffered. I blame the leadership and have been advocating for Rod’s ousting for some time.

Man, I am speechless… At this point, I hope you are trolling :joy:.

think about it this way… I can drive a car with a 20 gallon tank, and still complain about a car company that wants to sell me my gas tank 1/2 gal at a time on a car that costs way less than my $40k chevy.

or hell add a second fuel cell to keep 100%

You know that meme “They are the same picture” from the office? It is basically that, but for real.

You are trolling for sure, I must admit though good bait hahahaha.

are you the guy that’s been flagging my rants about this game as trolling?

whatever, believe it or not…

It can be a win-win if Blizz learns from it’s competitor in the market. Good competition will drive innovation. This has been proven in pretty much any industry.

I agree with this if we would look at it in vacuum. And it was breaking point for me in PoE for a long time. It just doesn´t FEEL good to know you have to buy some ingame things later on to be able to play.
But that is the point, it just feeling. If you will be objective you will realize that:

  1. D4 = 110 (and DLC) full shashes (friendly reminder people are still supper unhappy with storage in general)
  2. PoE2 = We still don´t know, so there will be some assumption. But I am willing to bet both of my kidneys for 110 bucks you will be able to afford every stash you will ever need.
But it will cost probably less, about half is my tip.

So long story short even if I would be supper negative… price for D4 and PoE2 is same.
Saying D4 is more accessible in term of price or PoE has less friendly monetization is just BS.

Then why didn’t they learn from PoE1?

I don’t want this… there is no reason to make diablo 4 more like PoE other than bored PoE players.

because their playerbase doesn’t want PoE mechanics… why do you think ppl still complain about bricking even with a scroll.

there is plenty of room for both playerbases to be happy… as long as poe players stop trying to make d4 more like PoE.

Actually not, I haven’t flagged any comment in this thread.

It is just that, you basically said many contradictory logics in sequence that successfully triggered this discussion.

To be fair, if it is your opinion and you think it is the best for you (only) as you stated it is fine I guess, no matter how bad the logic behind it is.

However, I think if this is a discussion with anything concrete, these contradictions will hopefully clear the picture.

If this is truly the second case, I hope you see the things different eventually.

that was a joke… it was about a recent campfire review I posted.

can you point to a specific contradiction?

just accusing me of trolling and saying they exist obviously won’t help me see them.

You saying D4 playerbase wants actual D4 mechanics we have right now? If so why is this game failing so ridicously hard for a Diablo franchise game?

Two words: Loot Filter (A base PoE mechanic)

Just to name one of the multiple PoE mechanics that D4 players are asking for pretty much since launch

Diablo 4 is a product.

Path of Exile 1/2 is a game.
