So long as the game is online, there’s no chance I’ll ever play a hardcore character. Not even once.
I don’t want to be tense while playing. I don’t want to be worried I’ll lose a character. Hell, I quit playing D2 when I lost almost a whole level of experience for dying once to lag. I quit PoE because it had XP loss on death. No way I can handle losing a character to one mistake.
I always had this in mind when I am playing my HC. I am prepared to lose it to disconnection. At first I just wanna try it. I had been wasting time with my 9 level 100s in Softcore, what else is there to lose for me if I lose an extra 3 hours in HC. Then it became 10 then 20 then 40 hours lol.
I am just lucky it’s still alive. My advise is play HC when you have nothing to do in the season. Just for fun.
Also it is wierd to explain to SC players but attachment you have with your HC toon is really something else than in SC. I am aware how dumb it sounds, but it is working like that for me.
But sadly the nonchallenge 99% of time and 1% OS outweighted it.
i personally played HC mostly for the titles , but yea as long as you don’t overdo things you should be fine.
(well…i did solo capstone dungeon at lv 40 and 50 respectively on this season on HC but then again it’s what i usually do on SC and never died doing so)
That’s one thing I love about hardcore, multiplayer engagement. Softcore seems dead, no one really trades or chats in trade. Hardcore people are engaged in trade chat and the game feels more active.
That’s awesome that you tried it and found some success. Hardcore just isn’t for me. I really enjoy being totally careless at times. Many, many times I’ve had to AFK suddenly in a bad spot and died. It would be silly to lose a character over something like that.
Yep HC is by far a much better experience when it comes to the community. If I didnt have a job id play exclusively HC. Im to casual these days to want to accept the loss.
I did all my hc achievements in S2 so i dabble now.
Ive only lost 1 hc character. It was % my fault. Stood in fire during a malph fight. Had a good laugh tho.
But overall there is definitely a larger attachment to HC characters and its a much different game all together. Tons of fun.
I got bored in S4 and figured I’d roll a HC toon to have a laugh… then realized I had to do all the renown, and uncover the map… logged out and deleted character… absolutely NOT interested in doing that again. Unlocking the waypoints and strongholds on every character in every season is bad enough
My Sorc died at the Fallen Council. I got killed by Hellfire. Boss was about to die but suddenly out of nowhere there were Hellfires.
Kinda unlucky my skills are all in CD. I have like 30K hp but my barriers were down.
At least I got my achievements which was one of my earlier goals. I also got my renowns for future HC. I think the game is telling me: Stop playjng S5 and prep up for PTR 2.0 tomorrow lol!
Edit: I think the issue here is I pushed the build too much. I kinda feel my build was at the borderline of T6. Boss fight took longer than usual if compared to SC.
I agree. Last season, I switched to Hardcore to get all the achievements after running out of things to do, and it wasn’t as tough as people make it out to be. With the seasonal reset, playing Hardcore might actually be a solid option. If any of my friends were into Hardcore, I’d probably consider playing there more often.
Lately I’ve been playing non meta builds in HC. Having a way funner time than just blasting with no thought to it.
Taking NMD’s seriously is more fun. Using a Key and being nervous is really fun. Red Lighting and the big Boars things that rush you has killed me twice lol
No thanks. I don’t wanna lose character to a random lag spike or bug like the Devastator in horde bs they just fixed. Die to them a few time on SC is frustrating enough.
Hellfire is dealing too much damage, idk why, maybe they deal true damage not fire. They also fall down really fast. Die to them couple times doing T8 on my SC sorc, nothing ever damage me except for those hellfire.
