And yes, they’re smarter & more helpful in HC. However… lol Blizzard servers. The game’s too tedious to keep me active for more than 30-45 mins at a time… can’t imagine finding the motivation to re-start my char.

For me personally, HC seems like one huge Risk (no reward)- waste of time (NOT saying that people who play it are wasting time).

It’s a HUGE huge HUGE pass on me. There seems to be nothing worth it to beat/play it. (to me)- Especially with the servers being Horrible.

HC is not for me. I do understand the appeal though. Maybe in s7 I’ll give it a go.

Renown is something that stops a lot of people from trying it. Glad you were able to push through. I agree, it is a much friendlier community. I think it is because we all know that death is a single mistake away, and if you die, people will get you back to 55 in no time at all. I start every season on softcore, but I end it on hardcore. It is just such a different vibe. For me, it is a different game. In softcore, there is no reason to not try the capstones very early, because if you die, who cares. In Hardcore, you have to consider it much more, because even if you can survive it, are you going to be strong enough to succeed at the next level or are you just wasting your time?

The best tip I have for anyone starting hardcore is to save your strongholds for world tier 4, unless you absolutely have to open one up (like druids and their home base). Once you get to world tier 4, do the strong holds for your first Ancestral gear. Strongholds are always only 2 levels above you, no matter what tier you are in or what level your character is. Other than that, have fun and don’t rage quit if you die. At least, not too long. Good luck!

I plan to play Hardcore now every season after I am done with Softcore. It usually happens after a month.

Once you get to the point where there is nothing to do in Softcore, I don’t see why not try Hardcore.

I’ve been away from home for the past seven months and playing off a mobile hotspot so I have not been too keen to get into HC but I always found it loads of fun in D3.
It just adds a lot of tension so it makes everything unique.

Since this game came out, I have never once experienced lag or a disconnect, so idk what all ur problems are

I did but mostly in Softcore. I won’t trust the network. I think that’s one of the computing fallacies. Never trust the network to set expectations

Edit:
I did two more Hardcore chars. Both died because I pushed too much lol

  • Barb level 60 at WT4 fighting Blood Maiden with 2x Profane Cage. Her explosions are like one shot lol.
  • Sorc level 60 at WT4 fighting in NM 60 and died with a strong DoT poison from one of the elites.

I think at this point, I like the idea is being able to push harder than what my char can handle so gonna go back to Softcore lol.

But I still don’t think Hardcore mode per se is that hard. The difficult part is controlling your own impulses.
