Tribute: Sophie the Cat

Hey all,

I am out of my element, haven’t really posted either. My apologies if this isn’t the right place for a Tribute.

My wife and I put our cat I adopted 18 years ago to sleep today. She was with me while we all ground out paragon in D3, and then when we dove into D4. Together we started back in the day farming and raiding Wrath of the Lich King through Dragon Flight, 1v1’s and various maze wars in sc2. Loved rotisserie chicken, all forms of sashimi, and fought for steak when it was around. We moved together, lived in 3 different states, traveling across the country and logging ~4,250 miles.

She was my greatest supporting NPC, always curled up in my lap, a portable heater in the winter.

Her name was Sophie, her cuddles will be remembered for all time.

Condolences and thanks for the ninja cutting onions. Our little bengal baby lady is only 1 year old but can’t imagine our lives without the little beast waking up us and inviting us to a way too early hunt.

I’ve been through this several times over the last 3 years. I will have to go through it again soon because I have a 19 year old girl that is getting more frail by the day. My heart goes out to you.

My condolences and sympathy goes out to you.

My own fuzzy little shadow dragon passed a few years back.

May they remain forever in our hearts and memories.

I still have bad dreams after putting my 15 year old dog to sleep. People who love pets know what I am talking about.

OP remember the good times that you had it sounds like she had a great life with you.

My condolences OP. Having two daughters that are absolute cat lovers, I have some knowledge of how deeply affected you are. :crying_cat_face:

Condolences. It is extremely hard to say goodbye to a wonderful friend that you loved so much. And she loved you back. Her spirit will remain with you and in your fond memories of her.

We took in a tough little lady stray a few years ago, and she gave us laughs every day of her life. We cherished the time we had with her.

The one thing the forums can unite around, Sophie the cat. You will be missed.

Sorry for your loss. I also have a kittysaurus I adopted 8 years ago, coincidentally named - Sophie. Absolute PITA diva, I wouldn’t know what to do without her.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My wife and I are cat people and I understand how it feels.

Sophie was a life long friend. She had a loving home and lived a better life than most cats on the planet. You will have fond memories of the good things. I know how much it hurts but it is better to have had her in your life for 18 years than never to have had in your life at all.

She reminds me of a Calico I had for 16 years. I was a bachelor when I got her. When my wife moved in she would sleep between me and the wife and push her away with her paws. As time went on they got along. She loved pepperoni from pizza. She also moved with us to 7 different houses in 2 states. She passed in 2002 and it still affects me deeply.

The best thing I have found over the years is to give it some time then start another life long friendship by adopting another. I always adopt rescue cats as there are so many with very few good homes for them. It will help with the loss but will never replace Sophie.

Add me as a friend if you ever want to talk. Aboshan#1920

And what off topic forum would that be?

You just reminded me of my little dog I used to have (sorry I know It’s not a cat).

Used to have her stay in my room when I played some games on my console or PC. Losing pets will always suck but It will always be a joy having them.

Sharing my condolences all well.

I will add my sad story, Mojo, a norvegian forest cat, abandoned, wife adopted her from the street, I didn’t approved first but she won my heart, after separation I kept her and she lived for 15 years. I was her sofa (used to sleep on my chest) for a long time. I still have a hole in my heart. That’s why in poe heist i got the calico cat, and the belial cat last season. Still hurts like hell to see old photos or video…

Yes, I’m so sorry. When I read about Sophie this afternoon, tears came to my eyes.

I can understand the pain of losing Sophie very well.

My first cat, the very sweet girl Muki, lived to be 16 (she looked younger), was terminally ill, and unfortunately had to cross the rainbow.

My second cat, the lovely Leni, only lived to be 10, was also terminally ill, and also crossed the rainbow.

Since 2020, I have had two very sweet sisters, Gabi and Mausi.

My condolences.

I know what you’re feeling, i’ve had to do it twice for two puppies.
It felt like i taken them out of the street just to… you know… It’s a hard feeling to do it…
But i hope they remember the years we were together better than the street years…
And now it “lives” pemanently at home…

Anyway, after that i have taken out two kittens from the street, but already had a urgence with one, but all fine right now…
Hope they’ll stick around for some more years…
They do love computers… heat… LOL

I lost my cat of many years in 2015 and it still hurts everyday. My bro turned into a traitorous dog person but I am a kitty person for life! :heart_eyes_cat:
