Hello there, sit a while and listen!
Being a very enthusiast 41 y/o gamer that grinded, played or tried every Blizzard game, I noticed something that is only getting worse to a point where it gets alarming. I would like to first say that everyone can speak they minds and have opinions and ideas, I’ve been called names such as troll and clueless idiot on here bla bla bla.
I’m taking some time to remind everyone that gamers aren’t all from the same generation, prefered game genre (yes we do get “tourists” that wanna try arpgs and are voicing out their opinions) and even new-comers to the genre or franchise, good or bad it’s their right to speak their minds. I stand here has a grown man asking everyone to turn the page for VoH, let’s start fresh, let us welcome both new/returning/casuals and heavy grinders but in a positive manner… too many times I see this threads ending up like is was Barrens chat in 2024… we all can do better than this in a live service game and we all play the same game. We really have to reset and stop the toxic passive aggressivity on the forums and even worse IN GAME! You play solo? Go out there and carry people, make new friends, all parties benefit from the non toxic mindset.
On this note I wish VoH has a buttery smooth launch and we ca all clap some demon cheeks together.
Keep gamnig alive gamers
Much love and may rnjesus be with you!

If the game were great, we’d be playing it instead of spending time on the forums. I’m not saying Diablo 4 is bad—I’ve played over 1,600 hours. But some of us, myself included, are frustrated with the constant changes in the game’s direction. We just want a finished product that we can enjoy.
I’m similar in age to you, so I can understand where you’re coming from.

it became way better really. Early when d4 released the forums were extremely toxic lol.
Everyone clearly has the option to speak his mind here. One thing some people forget while doing so is that there is a forum code of conduct, which then of course leads to a removal and eventually a forum vacation.
That being said, im pretty glad that the forum moderation became quite a lot faster as compared to the early stages of d4.

While I agree we could all step back and just take a look at what we’re doing as grown adults, I would also point out the fact that this is human nature in and of itself. It’s also because of our varying generations on here that there are so many different opinions about the game.
There will always be disagreements, heated arguments, toxicity, etc. The internet has just given us a more global voice than we’ve ever had previously. For better or worse. So while your advice is solid, it also won’t reach those who refuse to listen to logic. Now if any of us were in a room, 1 on 1, actually having a conversation it might be completely different, but that’s the beauty and curse of being behind a screen.
Now instead, I would just suggest not associating or responding to these people in general if you feel it’s getting beyond a reasonable point. You can also use the Tracking features at the bottom of every post, it’s just a little drop down menu that has the options: Watching | Tracking | Normal | Muted Selecting the Muted option will make that post and any replies in it (even if they’re directed at you) completely disappear from your front page.
Not to mention you can choose to ignore users on these forums as well, either by clicking on their Avatar going into their profile and muting them, or going into your own profile, clicking on
Preferences,
Users, selecting
Add, searching for the name, adding a Duration (or typing in ‘Forever’) and clicking on the Ignore button.
Multiple ways to get rid of toxicity on these forums, the first step is ignoring it. If they don’t have anyone to talk to, the problem goes away. At least until they just make spam posts, at which point they’ll get a nice forum vacation and the problem fixes itself.

I was talking about Diablo forums in general since d2-d4 it’s the same….sure there’s peaks and valleys in people’s anger but all in all it’s roughly the same.

When they made the Diablo Immortal announcement the D3 forum was flooded with new people but most of them would leave soon after raging. It was the worst I have ever seen on a forum. After that the D2 worshipers would show up to berate everything about D3 but most of them left after they could post on the D2R forum. Now that most of the D4 haters have left the few remaining ones who are now PoE2 cheerleads will hopefully be gone in Nov. At some point the forum will be about helping others with the game, staying up on D4 news and learning some tricks of the trade.

They always come back……always
D3 forums are fairly calm for the most part. Never checked the D2 forums, they have a forum page now right?
Good luck in your quest to raise humanity’s tolerance for one another in game forums. I give you plus one heart
for what it’s worth.

More talking about what they were like when the games were in their first year to 2 years
They all calm down eventually

I think that for most it’s the disconnect of having to be accountable for your actions/words since it’s basically anonymous to your irl persona.
The way people act online is far removed from how they act in person.

It is now down to a few people.
Yes they have one. I stopped looking at it when the most popular thread was crying about the Amazons face.

toxicity in video games went from trash talking like in sports to weird personal legit threats
imagine playing a basketball game with a guy saying things like “woooo you can’t stop me”
now imagine him instead being like “i’m going to cut you with a box cutter after the game”
kind of like that

I only read the forums while at work.

That doesn’t surprise me. People will nitpick at the smallest thing. Can honestly say I never paid attention to the faces of the characters beyond the initial character selection screen.

They were so over the top with it. They made the people on this forum crying about the Druid being fat look like armatures. You just never know what you will see on the forums. I wonder how some people function in the real world.
