Took 16 months to turn D4 into D3

Regardless to what D 4 is turning into, I’m looking forward to playing it.

I’m sure I’ll see most of y’all in VoH.

Keep Complaining. :facepunch: fist bump

GenZ wants to pretend they understand what they want, and the thought of playing a Diablo 4 game that was better then Diablo 3 sounded great, until they had no reference to gauge how much fun they were having.

The entire generation can barely have a thought of their own without the need to relate it to something else they previously experienced; their entire approach to playing video games is following guides. They live on rails because anything else gives them anxiety.

It’s a weird form of nostalgia… for lack of a better word to describe what it really is.

While I agree and Im frustrated that years of dev, a year of feedback, and all of our money has led to D4 transforming into D3…and Im super annoyed by that to the point where Blizzard is losing my confidence completely…

On its face, D3 systems were not bad. Torment levels were not inherently bad. World quests/(whispers) were not bad. Greater rifts/(Pit) were not bad although boring and lazy design compared to POE mapping and Last Epoch Monoliths. The problem with D3 is that they never funded further development into the game. Never expanded on anything. Thought that it was amazing enough to stand on its own two feet ‘as-is’ for years to come.

And then innovative games like POE and LE come along to blow out it straight out of the water. Now, the average ARPG enjoyer enjoys THOSE game systems and not the simplistic multi-difficulty greater rift style of play that blizzard leans into.

Blizzard… Im sorry, but youre lazy and you have lacked all creativity in nearly all of your video games for over a decade which is why you’ve fallen off as a developer. This past campfire proved that, at least with Diablo.

Now, all of the changes youve added will work. It’ll make the game objectively better. But its in no shape or form what WE the players wanted. And its about time you listen to what we want instead of making these decisions behind closed doors amongst yourselves. Look at the industry leaders (GGG with POE, 11th Hour with LE) and get more creative.

This is not it.

Same here. We all will be playing it.
But it doesnt annoy you or anger you that you paid for Blizzard to give Diablo 3 a facelift? And a year of feedback led to a re-imagined D3? Doesnt annoy you enough to show a little discontent with their lack of creativity?

Yea and D4 did really well too iirc, it was even in GotY talks briefly. Not sure where it all went wrong, why they decided to just turn it into D3 2.0. Maybe it is lack of creativity, just going backwards instead of forwards for profits/safety sake. I’d rather them continue to move in new directions and screw up than to go backwards to D3 and screw up anyway.

It really sucks and I’m definitely going to end up playing less, if at all. Just reinforces my decision not to pre-purchase and maybe even delay buying the expansion.

Me too. I wouldnt have lasted past s1 if the game had stayed in the state it was. I get that there are people who love slow grinds and beating a basic attack to death until getting a core skill in, but to me its boring as hell.

You mean just like every d2 boomer…

it was obvious since D4 came out and the only end game content was redoing lilith fight that they were just going to have to eventually just copy everything from D3

all d4 will be missing is set armors at this point.

I don’t understand your post…D4 is D3 with better graphics and less group play anyway .

Not everyone wants to play POE when playing D4 :person_shrugging:

What is funny to me is that they announce and explain all these features as new and innovative as if they didn’t release the exact same content over a decade ago lol

Devs should bring the QoL in d3 to d4 like armory, communities, public games, leaderboards imo, not copy the same gameplay mechanincs and pretend they are new content.

IT’S ALL very plausible some in these forums haven’t played D3 before.
It is also plausible some here believe in words over actions aka stupidity over malice in the designs changes (again and again) by D4, in D4 in the past 17-mths.

Live service lingo by Devs means fixes and repairs, not adding basic QoLs timely, not supporting base game fairly with all the p2w power behind VoH.

I know what I am about to say. Let the crying start, Love the changed coming. Yes the took somethings from D3. But it works. so what I will still play the game. Cries just toughen up wipe your tears and just play the game. Nice work blizzard for the changes.

I wanted D4 to be more like WoW. A fully 3D open world to explore and quest and party and run dungeons/raids with. Full on WoW but Diablo themed.

Failing that, I am happy D4 is finally looking more like a D3 2.0. I just wish they had done that from the beginning, since they didn’t do what I originally would have wanted (see first point).

Very disappointed there’s still no armory/loadout or set pieces, though.

I’m just glad that it’s not turning into d2. What a slow paced slog fest that game is. Tiny inventory, id and portal scrolls, butt ugly graphics and combat. No thanks, let’s keep moving forward.
I hated d2, but I never went on their forums and whined about it. Boomers need to get off eternal and go back to d2. I think there’s mods that can refresh the game for you guys. Go enjoy!

The best of d2 and d3 should be here and also new things on d4. In my opinion, this is the correct way to continue with it, and I like it and so many people too.
