Oh nice, I was kinda hoping it was so. “Lazy” and avant garde at the same time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Knight Angel , sort of lighting power Paladin.

The next hero is almost guaranteed to be crusader or paladin.

I’m hoping for something more akin to a WoW priest with a slightly more melee focus. Physical/Holy/Shadow/Lightning. Mix up of Paladin/Death knight/Priest I guess.

Priest is a definite no. Wont sell. Nobody cares about healing.

It has to be paladin or crusader 100% guaranteed.

It could defiantly work like a D&D Cleric, Armor, shield, mace, destroys the undead just by looking at them

I dont see any hero being made that has a focus on healing yourself or party.

I agree with Urza on this one for now. Let’s see how well the group play content is received and revisit that idea a few seasons down the line lol

Both Crusader and Monk have a couple ways to heal in D3 and Paladin in D2. Obviously, most people play single player so any healing would be a side benefit, not a core mechanic. Spiritborn has numerous ways to restore life, all a Priest would need is group restoring instead of self-only.

Here would be great classes to add

1 demon hunter ( world of Warcraft version)
2 death knight
3 paladin/crusader
4 monk
5 bard

I don’t think that there will be a next expansion personally so likely not another class. They lost the grand majority of their player base long ago and the game runs off cosmetic sales now which surely must be dropping as player numbers have dropped. We know what modern blizz is like, unless something is doing well they ditch it. They sacked d3 after one expansion and this games development is probably not making a lot of income now when you factor in the costs they must have had re-developing it post release plus season dev and upkeep costs.

I do not think that this first expansion will sell as well as they want, and this will silently be the final nail in the coffin for the game which they will support long term with minor updates but not much more. Lets see.

Hope it’s something original, i’m so sick of archetypes.

Oh look, it’s the hammerdin again. It’s the shielddin again. Oh good, we haven’t seen that before…

At least spiritborn seems to try something new.
I like the D:I classes, they’re trying new things.

I agree that a new class is much more interesting. The devs should aim high.

That said, I want them to up their game with +2 classes per addon. One new and one that does not need to be developed from scratch.

Eh, from scratch is a stretch. SB is basically a hybrid between mostly monk and some druid, with a little rogue/dh flair. It’s a monk with holy converted to poison and ‘spiritual’ side is now animals, and instead of morphing and pets, they’re ‘called’ to help in a more symbiotic way, which I actually prefer (although I kind of wish their was a strong morph flair on some abilities). Looking at the abilities and how they really function, there is heavy crossover to monk.

SB - 70% monk, 20% Druid, 5% Rogue, 5% new.

A holy spell in both D2 & WoW Paladin have had both direct offensive & direct healing properties, it would be trivial to do.

There were purely defensive group abilities too ofc, but D3 seems to have transitioned away from the truly hybrid potential. Synergies with other abilities/items could also add an offensive element to a defensive spell, but I think abandoning truly hybrid abilities = missing out on fun. It was specifically done, most likely, to emphasize the “solo” nature of D3/D4 gameplay.

For all the “solo” v “group” philosophical debates in this forum, do old heads remember that Holy Bolt could be directed at individual allies, Holy Bolts from Fist of the Heavens did the same in aoe form, and D2 auras as a concept (including Prayer at low levels) shatters the “solo-only” theory?

Don’t be scared, Blizzard: bring back Paladin. Make ARPGs Great Again. :kissing_heart:

So many people cryed about the paladin, it’s going to be paladin for shure.

I guess it will be a mix of 2 old classes, as the Spiritbjörn is a mix of Monk and WD.

That is not what I meant.

There is obviously a difference between choosing a new spirit born class rather than recreating a witch doctor from a previous Diablo title.
Class fantasy, skills, lore etc went through many iterations before the devs feel like it fits, even if it ends in a mix or with similaritys to other classes.

On the other hand, if you think of Paladin or Necromancer then it is pretty clear where to start with skills, right?

I’ll take 3 versions of paladin over 1 necro.
