Those collecting pets are bad - Here is why:

There are numerous reasons why those collecting companions (e. g. “sweet” pets) are bad.

  • They distract from the hero character (Diablo 4 is all about the hero character!)
  • They don’t fit into the dark atmosphere of the game
  • They distract from the monsters, sometimes you can confuse the pet with an enemy
  • There are better and more direct solutions to collecting gold and consumables, especially the solution to simply add the amount of gold dropped by a killed enemy directly to your gold.

Obviously the real reason for Blizzard to implement those collecting companion pets was to earn money from new skins of that pet. Money before what is best for the game itself is always bad.

The pet is totally unnecessary and I can only see negative things compared to the brought in alternative above. This is Diablo, not a little child’s game! This is about the hero, not about any companions!

You have got to be trying to be annoyed by the pet to really see it.

It does break the visual style of the game, no argument there. It does kind of improve a QoL thing that should be handled differently.

Not arguing any of those points. But whether my Necro, Druid, or Barbarian the little pet barely registers to me that it is there. I swear to be annoyed or confused by it when playing you have to be searching to be annoyed by the presence of it

I gotta be honest, these pet posts sound pretty hyperbolic.

How about some truth bombs? The actual impact of the pets:

  • Choose a cute skin from the menu (the only time you can actually see it). Daww lookit the kitty.
  • Go and play as normal, and barely (if ever) even perceive the pet because it’s super tiny, off screen most of the time, or just lost in the chaos.
  • Never have to backtrack for cinders again.

Seems like a net win, no? :joy:

I barely see my Pet. I wish i could have a bigger Pet, like a Lion :joy:

They are practically invisible during gameplay.

And I like them. Hopefully they’ll add more functionality to them.

Would like to have a ‘Puzzle Ring’ type pet.

Also I’d like a little owl that flies around please.

No

Something about 20char

Yeah it’s rare to even notice it at all. Until I get used to it, the only issue is that occasionally I try to kill it because it’s moving and everything moving MUST DIE (I have to be paranoid in HC, haha!)

Well, they’re in the game now. That ship has sailed. As others have said, you have to really be looking for them to be annoyed by them. They’re hardly noticeable outside of town.

I don’t like pets either and find them distracting, etc. I also understand that I am not everyone and a lot of people like them. I don’t expect to get my way all the time as the game is not being developed solely for me. This is one battle that’s just not worth it to me.

It would be nice to have an option to make them all invisible though. I like the functionality of them, just don’t like pets in general in these games. I have real life pets. Don’t need them in an ARPG.

Oh please, spare me the obvious lies. Fire raining from the sky, the ground being torn apart, 30+ demons all vying for your blood, electricity and frost flying everywhere, and you’re supposedly distracted by your pet. Yeah okay.

I generally do not like pets in games unless they serve a function. The only exception to that for me is ESO where I enjoyed the pet as part of the RP experience. In most RPGs though, pets are a distracting vanity item.

I like pets that serve a purpose though. Having something run around and pick up stuff is pure awesome. I wish they would take it a step further and allow you to send the pet with items to sell/salvage. If I recall correctly, that was a function in the Torchlight games and it was fantastic.

We can dicker on aesthetics but it’s all subjective. I’d prefer less cute but that’s just me.

Umm… I said I was fine with not getting my way on this. I’m not the OP. I’m not railing against pets etc, so you’re response just seems silly.

I can’t wait for this Pet Skin.

Thank you for your opinion. But IMO its a good feature and is welcome to stay.

I’m also happy with the pet. It’s small, it’s unobtrusive and it’s useful.

No they don’t. Have you played a minion build?
I have and I don’t even notice the pet. I’m leveling a rapid fire rogue right now and it has not even registered to me either.

Have you not seen the dogs and cats strewn around the cities in game?

I mean, you are welcome to your opinion but I love my pet. And it’s here to stay

They need to give the Whimsyshire treatment to the game.

They did it with D3 when people complained about how “Cartoonish, and Colorful” the game was.

It’s the D3 WoWification coming back in full force, they didn’t rehire Jay Wilson did they??? Is this guy working on this game now?

yeah a lion or a wolf a dog trained for war (fangs and teeth and in general looking very dangerous) a boar or giraff or whatever… I don’t care but these cute puppies just don’t belong on the battle field. Make them go away.

I didn’t raise my dog to become a garbage man this aggression will not stand man.
