I have a 3080 TI, with the latest drivers. Performance has been fine today, but it has not once, but twice randomly caused my computer to shut down in a panic while all the fans are spinning at max speed.
This is not normal behaviour, the last time I heard about something like this was when New World launched and uncapped the framerate on RTX cards.
I don’t want to brick my card, so I’m done with this beta. What a shame.

Crank up your fan profile dude.

Odd. Mine has barely been making the fans spin. I just cranked up the FPS to 144 to see what that did.
Makes me wonder if you’re hitting a transient spike and your PSU can’t handle it. GPUs are designed to run hot. Cap the FPS to lower usage.

I’m on a laptop from 2013 with an Nvdia GTX 980M and I’ve seen no problems or stuttering or overheating whatsoever. I even changed the standard graphics settings to higher detail here and there and still no problems. That is, untill I got the infamous network error and then the no valid gamekey crap, but that has nothing to do with my old graphics chip. So there must be something very wrong with your videocard somewhere. Fan okay ? Thermal paste dried up ? Is there thermal paste at all ? Is your case a greenhouse maybe ?
Pfft. What kind of “fan” are you?

Ive got a 3080 TI as well. I noticed it was chugging a bit at the very beginning of the prologue. I set the graphics to medium and it instantly resolved it.
Almost 100% its an optimization issue.
The game seems to try to load a graphic profile depending on the hardware config. Try lowering the graphics to low settings, then you can slowly work your way back up.
It may have grabbed a higher profile for that setup and its taxing something.
My desktop loaded a custom profile to start with and most settings are set to low out of the start. But I also had a previous profile from the closed beta, so that may have been why.
Running great at 4K with a 4090 not complaining
guess this thread isn’t for you…

I run a 3050 ti and chose not to download the extra 45g of 4k ultra settings content. It runs smooth as butter. The only hiccups are connection related when I’m around other people in connected areas.
i undervolted it’s doing fine
I also have a 3080Ti and not once has it gone above 80c while playing D4. This is a you problem. Fix your air flow.
Also, change the texture quality setting from high to medium. This will completely fix all your issues.
After I posted yesterday, I did some testing.
Higher resolution textures definitely murder the frame rate and card. I went from running about 140-150F to 180F, nearly doubled the power consumption and the fans ran constantly.
I also played with the temporal reconstruction, some Alias settings, and max FPS rate.
It was very easy to tax the hell out of my 3060.
But the lower settings work just fine, it still looks pretty good and it runs stable at 60FPS. I can run up to 144 even with the lower settings.
Anyway. Play with the settings, you will have less trouble.

I have an RTX 3080Ti and experienced artefacts and my screens going black after playing the early access Beta for D4. Most up to date nvidia drivers at the time, nothing overclocked. Definitely seems there’s some kind of issue affecting 3080Ti’s and D4.
i got a 3080ti and that didnt happen. it performed under what i would expect though. had to turn textures down to medium lol.
are you sure theres not any kind of dust buildup somewhere? “shutting down in a panic” usually comes from the cpu overheating.
my gpu never caused my pc to shut down. worst case scenario the driver drops and reloads (temporary black screen 2 seconds) very rare.
Every gpu issue I’ve been hearing about this game is a 3080 card, fwiw. Just beware if you own such a card.
why would you even buy a 3080ti
by default the game is set to 150 max fps so that needs to be changed to 60 fps by default
