You won’t delete them. But they will tomorrow be de-commissioned into useless eternal realm turds. All the fun times you had. The highest pit levels you achieved. The pit run close calls where you didn’t know if you would have enough time to finish the boss but you did.
The scores you got in infernal hordes. The thousands of obducite you farmed through nightmare dungeons and other means. The wasted obols this season at the god awful nerfed to oblivian(no pun intended) obols vendor.
The ups and downs during the leveling experience that you and your character experienced.
The mythic uniques with the GA’s you sought after and both did and did not get.
The armor set and weapon transmogs with the same shader you kept on all season. Different than your last season’s character.
The boss runs, the tempering and re-tempering. The masterworking experience. The damage numbers you witnessed. The time’s spent playing more or less than you should. The neckbearding adding a relaxing or frustrating quality of life to your day. Success and failures in both your characters abilities and the RNG experience Blizzard provides it’s players with.
Knowing next season will be a different experience more than just the seasonal powers change and you will never use those seasonal powers you chose this season again.
We had some ups and downs little buddy. But we stuck with it through to the end.
Goodbye, old friend.
Your character gets on the boat like Frodo does with Gandalf at the end of The Lord of The Rings trilogy

You can literally still play it on ethernal realm.

Yes. You can. But it’s not the same. It’s not the strong character it once was. It’s powers have been greatly diminished. It will never feel the same to play again. It’s like it’s aged and been sent to the old folks home.

Yeah that is why you don’t cling to seasonal characters. Look at them as desposable tools.

I’m missing the rebirth system from D3. I want to send my current chars into the next season.

Oscar the grouch, sitting in his garbage can. “I don’t care about my previous season’s characters!”

For me it is a big mistake not to have a hall of heroes, with the numbers of each hero. Which is the highest pit??? Everything will be forgotten and erased.
Now we have a dead build in eternity, and some will not even work anymore, like earthquake.

12 out of 14 slots used, all of them geared up to the gills with 12/12 masterwork and multiple ga ubers. Some of those boys and girls are getting deleted. Thank you blizzard for you creative gameplay model.

Well don’t let your sentiment for dead characters ruin your excitement for new ones.

There is no sadness, he is deleted now muahahaha
I see it no different from a new wow raid tier or pvp set coming out.
You enjoy your character set bonus or active items but the game moves on so those times just become memories
You expect them to change when you play the living
our of the game.
I don’t get that logic. See i am also complaining all the time about D4, but i am not playing it for the reason i complain about.
In the end the only thing that will make Blizz overthing what they do are tumbling player numbers. If you are okay with playing a mediocre game, a mediocre game they will serve.
I deleted all my seasonal characters, the only one I felt sad about was my first…Elsa the frost Sorc.

same here, why keep them if they are totally useless, its like the people crying about stash spots, stop being hoarders… lol

I have an attachment to my first because Diablo 4 was new then and a different game. Sure many didn’t like it…but I remember the struggle on Sorc in S0 and it felt good to overcome it.
You didn’t see all the flaws yet, and there was so much to learn if you did not play D3. I did not play D3.

I guess the problem is that they wanted to make their “own” version of Diablo and be different to the last Diablo. Which is okay, but the quality of life stuff should have been kept. I’m sure rebirth comes back sooner or later, just like the group finder came back too.
You don’t have to be a hoarder to get the feeling that the stash is limited. If you play only one char it might be fine, but three or four chars with more than one build and it can get messy fast.
