The expansion destroys my previous progress

Well it is not like these updates are worth following. More nerfs and wallet drain strategy updates from billzard lol. See you in Season 12 “Fun Reborn.”

You are confused, eternal mode is the normal mode of a Diablo, season is more a casual mode for young players, cod/fortnite players/battlepass skins chasers.

This is a spread confusion in new players, but i see even confusion on players on what an expansion do, making old gear useless is what expansion do, like in diablo 2 with lord of destruction.

Yeah right. People dont even grasp the idea of what seasons are all about lol. Obviously never played ORIGINAL D2

Considered many are young players is normal they not understand, isn’t their fault not understand what are season now, only a way to push battlepass.

But is strange people not understand an expansion can make previous gear useless, was a normal thing in diablo, maybe they are confused because Blizzard united this to the change to max level and item level.

Normally we would have a new max item level which will in any case make older gear useless, so the final situation will not change, gear become useless with expansion, this is how diablo always worked.

It is messed up how they did it. My friend did not buy DLC but he too was nerfed to level 50. Why? What is the point of him in eternal realm leveling to 60 again. It is like nerfing from 100 to 90 and telling him to level up to 100 again cause “reasons.” Obviously the Dev team did not really think this through. But it is a reflection of the modern world. People do not think.

Leave eternals at 60. LEave non DLC players at 60. Sure nerf their gear like all the rest of the gear. But leave the characters be.

The fact even people not buying the dlc get lowered to lvl 50 is is normal because the new max level isn’t tied to the dlc, but it’s part of the a overhaul changes Blizzard is doing to find a balance for Diablo 4.

The fact they choiced to not give level 60 to people was at 100 and instead gived lvl 50, instead is strange, from a game point of view i not see any reason to do it, maybe is something they needed to do for the “programming side”, maybe they need players reach max level again to trigger something, but is only a fantasious supposition.

The good thing is only need less of two hours to relevelling, so isn’t a big problem, but this not change is a strange choice from Blizzard.

I agree completely. Every time they ‘upgrade’ this happens. It is very disheartening to see all of your items turned worthless, and your level 100 characters reduced to 50. And for those who would suggest I play a different venue rather than complain,no. I have been playing this game since Diablo first came out in the nineties,so please, dont make that suggestion again. It is very rude.

more to do and repeat same all over when its too slow and tidius to start with are 2 different things alltogher. Someting both you and blizz seems to fail to understand. I totally agree with this. imagine anohter aaa game that takes away all progress over and over. we had updates in d3 too but not making all gear worthless at once over and over. its bulls and on top of that they make us level 100 heroes even more and all is locked beside nd to do it . they are so lost…

and what? Even if devs explain that will happened doesnt make it fair, there must be many player with low game time enjoying building slowly their character for the game they bought. having your progression erased like that is not cool

I agree and I don’t know why must people hear have to be so hostile, I would have liked to have kept my druid who was great and pushed into harder and harder content, but they have not turned him into a snow flakes so can’t see the point. While at the same time I was going to spin up rogue or necro in the new season - give me choices to hop around but it feels like what they have done is knocked me back by a month of real play so still not able to move beyond level 3 difficulty or try some of the other stuff that uses the rare items as by best guy is now the equiverlant of a garden gnome

This really does suck for players who don’t have much time to play. I feel like all of my gear had become legacy just a week ago… I will say, I can stomach it for the 2nd time, but if they ever try to overhaul the whole system AGAIN and all my items become legacy AGAIN, I quit…

Totally agree with the guys saying that it sucks… destroying my items and making them useless feels awful man. this is a looter game.

This literally doesn’t happen in ANY expansion to any game ever. At all. No other game completely ruins and takes away all your progress, items, and hours invested into the game, just because of an expansion or update.

for sure, logging into the new season for all my old characters to be bricked was a bummer. what a bad design choice

No this is how THIS Diablo apparently has always worked. Which no isn’t right or the correct way to go about doing it. Erasing everyone’s progress and items because they’re too lazy to update the game the correct way, while including current items, is bs. It takes away the HOURS players have spent building their characters, saving items for other characters or builds, tempering, playing through the game to be able to fully upgrade certain items, it completely erases it all. And practically no other game does or has ever done that. Especially not an rpg-like, centered around loot and items.

The player base has already taken a huge drop in numbers over the course of the launch of the game because they kept doing this, now it’s taken another huge drop if you look. Which is understandable given they just ERASED EVERYONE’s PROGRESS, BUILDS, and time spent on the game.

Nobody wants to play a game where our time invested is erased and made irrelevant, with every season. Because the GAME COMPANY IS EITHER LAZY OR INCOMPETENT! It’s absolutely pathetic and has caused a huge drop in numbers and people now uninstalling, with many more extremely PO.
There’s no point to play this game anymore. Unless they fix their new mistakes. We’ve dealt with enough mistakes and laziness on their part.

Don’t be sorry, this was completely irrational and lazy and their part. They just erased and ruined all progress anyone has ever made in the game in this past season, forcing their new items and content down our throats without an option. No other company does this and it’s sad that they thought it was ok to.
Practically deleting the hours and hours players have spent on this game, making them basically start from scratch on everything, is basically unheard of and a pathetic tactic. Idc how supposedly “good” the expansion or update is. I’ve put countless hours this past season into my three characters, leaving through the world tiers to eventually be able to fully upgrade my items, to now have them all made worthless junk because they’re too lazy to do things the right way.

They just lost a crap ton of players and have turned into a lazy, greedy, incompetent company. The fall of one of the greatest game companies ever, has been an extremely sad one. Only effecting us as the players, the most.

I’m done with Diablo for now, not going to constantly have all my hours and progress erased every time they feel the need to change something in the game.

Expansions almost always increase the level cap and add stronger gear, to say otherwise means you’ve never played another game before or are just lying. Well there also other options, but voicing them would get me sent to the gulag.

Did you really think you were just going to get to hang out at the end game and play with all the new toys without earning them?

It’s Eternal. Why do they keep nerfing the items in Eternal? It’s essentially crappier seasonal at this point.

Eternal items should be immutable.

It doesnt, but its been like this from the beginning. You should expect your items to turn legacy if you see changes to them in the patch notes :man_shrugging:
