The D4 team are learning

Very impressed with the developer update and changes. Finally it feels like the team are really starting to listen to feedback and make positive changes for the game.

Not saying it’s all roses but it’s refreshing and it appears some of the passion is returning to many of the faces on camera!

Bring on Season 4

I wouldn’t say “learning” more of adjusting. It’s clear there’s an different shift in attitude for development. My guess is the executives are finally staying away from the project.

Based on everything i’ve seen, including during the Beta, nothing has really changed in their attitude towards the game. They were just forced to release it before it was ready (MVP) and are now just catching up to where they wanted (and we wanted) it to be on launch.

I’m pretty sure everything they’ve done to-date aside from bug fixes and minor adjustments is all stuff that was planned either for go live or S1, but they just ran out of time.

listening to feedback = making everything easier and faster.
Thats what the masses want. “i can only play 4 hours a week, i also want bis, uber uniques, kill the hardest content, like the the others do”

In the end, what we get is D3.5. Nothing to math out, nothing to properly theorycraft, nothing to test because everything will be fine and equal. Nothing to aspire to, no aspirational items and i can go on. It’s a casual game, and it has moved even mor einto the casual area in Season 4.

Not saying nothing was good in S4 cause it was, but in a general sense the game is more casual.

Feels like this, but play it before deciding anything.

Raxx’ poll backs this up, kinda, at least for his audience. BTW Raxx did say that he thinks D4 is basically D3 now in that same stream.

Something that I appreciate from the campfire videos is hearing the devs talk about things that they like or didn’t like while they were playing the game. Having lots of data and feedback is one thing but having the gameplay experience makes that info real and impactful. Reminds me of the D3 dev talks when John Yang started geeking out about cool game ideas.

Depends on your point of view. If you want this game to be like D3 then yes. If you want it to be like D2 then no.

They might be learning something.
But it seems to be the wrong lessons.

One thing that stood out to me (in the Q&A, as I havent watched the stream) was Blizzard saying something like:
“We envisioned 50-100 as endgame, but players wanted it to be lvl 100”… sigh.

:100:

Have patience shadout! This may be their first APRG they are playing!

The new guy they brought on…wow…they dev looked TIRED! Probably to his credit is actually legitimately playing the game and working. Then wondered why his boss pulled him away from his Tyreal’s might to give a presentation that is already typed out in the PTR notes.

So that means he’s going to love it? Dude made a living off of D3 content, so he should be ecstatic. I don’t mean this as an insult toward the guy either, he lived and breathed D3 up to the end.

Youtube algorithm threw a video at me about Raxx playing Elden Ring a few days ago, and apparently loving it.
He might actually have seen the light.

Otherwise, yeah, as far as I recall, he is one of the “blaster” proponents of D3.

He doesn’t like the sounds of it, but he will 100% play S4.

He’s currently playing Elden Ring for the first time because of chat and enjoying it. I think he should brace himself for S4.

He’s been playing ER straight after No Rest for the Wicked. Both games have excellent design.

Same here. I’m really in awe of the sheer work that’s gone into Season 4. I didn’t participate in the PTR and I’m really excited to jump in on the 14th. This is a huge turning point for the players and the devs should be really proud. Outstanding work!

The passion on Joe’s face when Rod starts talking is priceless

Four seasons in after launch and they are learning. Meanwhile the game is decomposing.

Good gestures but they are making the same mistake as D3, turning things too simplistic. Probably even more simplistic than D3. Capping armor at 9230 is bad move.

Poe 2 the only proper arpg now.

Not sure yet. They seem to be consistent in trying to treat the symptoms instead of solving the actual problems with the game.
