Tempering stopping me from playing

First let me say I have enjoyed this season/changes massively. From previous seasons it’s been a blast.

Is anyone else in a position where they just cant be bothered to try a new build because tempering is too much of a headache?

I haven’t tried the new patch mainly because I’ll need to find good gear & temper it and I don’t feel like getting annoyed.
If they temporary removed the tempering limit for the remainder of the season I’d play it.

No, I don’t think anyone has mentioned it here before. Please, tell us more.

No issues here. The game is so easy to feel powerful and tempering is fine by me. Needs a little work with the RNG and allow us to keep an existing roll, but overall I don’t have issues with it. I’m levelling my 4th character now and the previous 3 all have plenty of good tempered items.

Thanks for your insightful input glad you could stop by.

Not a problem, likewise!

Ok. For the last time and just for you:

  1. No I haven’t had issues. Rogue cutthroat on heartseeker was about the only time I ran through more than 1-2 items to get correct tempers.
  2. No tempering doesn’t bother me, and I think it’s fine. I finished the seasonal journey and all the 200 bosses a day after starting the season. I tell you this not to brag, but because I had several pieces of gear with the wrong tempers and nothing was even masterworked.
  3. Because of point #2 and the fact this is my last season-I understood on my alts that missing a temper and not having GA’s all over the place was not a big deal.
  4. Last Epoch which I prefer anyway made me truly appreciate “bricking” an item is no big deal, especially in this game where items are far easier to find.

I understand why you stop playing…
Sometimes I also find it quite funny with the D4 Devs. Things that are worth changing don’t change, but they change things that don’t need to be changed. The tempering logic is the same before the new patch and lowering Pit difficulty… WHATTT?!

This season is the first time I’ve tried multiple builds on a character - I’m on my 3rd build for my Druid. Legendary/unique items are so much easier to find than ever before that tempering was more like a minor speed bump. If an item bricked, I knew it wouldn’t be long until I found another one.

you with in the first 10 attempts i usually get something useful, even if the first 5 brick.

I haven’t pushed MW far enough yet, but i assume we resets every level/tier we masterwork out ot 12 ranks so however many that is, you may not get a maxroll, but you should see the affix you want after this many tries.

Most of the time i brick when i gamble for a max or higher roll. Sometimes yes you get unlucky and roll nothing you want, but i have not had that many do that so far.

If you didn’t know yes it resets your 5 tempers each masterwork rank i have tried so far which is from T1-T2 i am guessing the each rank up to 5 or whatever the cap is.

More people are playing now than were playing at the start of the season. So… no. It is not stopping people from playing.

You cant really blame blizzard because you have anxiety problems.

Tempering stopping me from playing

Cut your nose off to spite your face mentality.

Usually only internet outages, real life commitments, work, sleep, home invasions stop me from playing.
I didn’t know tempering was so serious and could literally stop me from playing!

Yes. Tempering “seemed” like such a great, fun, new, exciting idea…then in implementation, it’s…I’m looking @ like x4 other classed I’d “maybe” like to get to 100 as well, but nah, too much headache.

I don’t like the current version of Tempering because of the potential to brick an item for a specific build. That said, it certainly isn’t bad enough of an issue to keep me from playing. So much hyperbole about a game feature.

Seems like an easy fix and I’ve seen several suggestions. Shards to reset an item. Gold to reset an item. Any kind of currency really to let you take another swing at salvaging your 3GA item.

For me the tempering isn’t what made me quit the season, it’s the lack of something to progress when we get to level 100… feels like we are not “rewarded” for our playtime, god I miss paragon system from D3.

The fix

Rebswag I’m a play quite a bit but not exactly a hardcore Diablo player, I don’t think Tempering is as good as they made it sound. Although, I do use it to try and get a specific affix for my Rogue, I just don’t use it much. As you said sometimes you get better items in drops. My opinion is just don’t use it if you feel like it’s just going to give you a headache. I don’t base my builds off of tempering. I use it just to add an affix that I think would be helpful.

What?

I have anxiety because I don’t want to waste my time tempering? Ok mate
