Tempering its bad and needs to go!

Many here will disagree, but today I see this system as one of the main reasons why players stop playing Diablo 4. The system is bad, boring, tedious and stressful. If they are trying to keep the player engaged as much as possible, they are doing it very wrong! A tip for the “developers”: Try to research what developers of other games are doing in games like Grim Dawn, LE and POE. Are you embarrassed to admit that you didn’t do market research before launching this horrible system?

I’m not against your argument, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion about systems in game. However this made me laugh.

What company would ever admit this? To their consumers of all things. Honestly now.

So you cant cope with rng. I wouldnt recommend any arpg since D4 is basic and has more fail-safe then any other game.

Blizzard won’t ever admit failure, it is a publically traded company. They know players universally hate it, I mean how could you not? They just don’t want to ditch the system or make it to where there is no such thing as Tempering Durability which apparently the only options they see other than throwing in Scrolls that are a one-time use.

are you embarrassed that you didn’t do any kind of research? (of course i cant talk about poe2, cause its not released yet, but those two games you mentioned… duh, comparing it to your fails in tempering is ridiculous xD)

Heya,

Same argument, same lame directive to “move along”, this is too tough for you, blah-blah-blah. What exactly are you bringing to the table that is positive or instructive?

My “bricks” in PoE at the highest level of crafting pave the way to complete endgame success every season, my “castoffs” are sold for 100’s of div…yeah, sure, you betcha, just keep on keeping on with your “help”.

It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another altogether to be everyone’s “Negative Nancy” in fostering the idea that anything other than your side of things make you an abject failure.

Yes, there are a TON of posts/people who intensely dislike tempering/blacksmithing as is, again, why foster even more emotions by acting the bully?

Having read the same old drivel time and again from you, just needed to point out what you’re doing, and ask…why? Burnt out from being a keyboard warrior in a forum seeing the same posts time and again?

Go play those actual games and get an informed opinion on the “facts” you espouse, instead of painting with a broad brush.

Take care all.

Simple fix: make scrolls unlimited uses on an item. That would fix it for me and I absolutely hate tempering.

I can farm scrolls and if lucky I can find an upgrade. Finding an upgrade atm it ends up being completely broken by rolling same stat 6/6 times.

I bricked 2 items yet. Im even wearing 2 items that have maxed tempers on every stat. Sometimes im very lucky. For example getting triple hit on the same desired stat at masterworking 2nd try.

Lucky at tempering but i did not find a single amulet with + to passives that is even worth to reroll into something good. I have more than 9000 hours of S6 playtime. Maybe more… :see_no_evil:

It’s not. Want to put cold resistance on an item in Path of Exile? Go to crafting bench>select cold resistance>put cold resistance on the item. Done.

Decide later on that you want something else on the item other than cold resistance? Go to crafting bench>select other enchant, with an orb of scouring>put new enchant on item. Do this as many times as you please, with no limit.

I decided to try out the Evade Eagle build before the end of the season for fun. I had one pair of pants with Armor GA. Of course it bricked. The game system didn’t even give me 2 Maximum Resolve Stacks after the Scroll of Restoration. This is after 200 hours of playing! I can not understand how a company can design a game system being so petty. Immediately threw me off the new build.

Was that an attempt at an “It’s over 9000” joke? Because there have only been about 1200 hours since the season started.

Every one of these posts goes pretty much the same way…

Players: “Tempering is broken!”
White Knights: “It’s your fault, you’re trying for perfect rolls, settle for less”
Players: “We can’t finish higher content without perfect rolls”
White Knights: “Well, my perfect gear was easy to get, it’s a you problem” or “You can get everything to drop in Torment I, so quit complaining”

Blather. Rinse. Repeat.

The bottom line is Blizzard doesn’t listen to player feedback. Streamers are the only ones they bother listening to at all. So either become a popular streamer or settle for the crumbs Blizzard leaves for the rest of us.

they don´t need to go… just don´t put limit on it and all will be fine.

im pretty sure Bits has spent more time on the forums than playing D4 since Season 0 lol

You forgot those of us who have to constantly explain the laws of probability’s to people

i’m getting more into tempering and I think it’s a very punishing thing to do.
I used a scroll just to get dodge 6 times in a row and NOW I can’t temper anymore that item.

Bad game design.

maybe the algo that runs the temper system should gradually increase the chance to get a different buff…

I disagree. Tempering is an opportunity to fine tune equipment to my liking.

Today I decided to try upgrading a 2GA pants after a while and boom bricked it trying to get max resolve stats. Lovely mechanic.

Also I have been buying nothing but pants for the last 2 weeks or so to get aspect of interdiction and this was one of few decent pants I get in last 2 weeks. I don’t even wanna start talking about aspects my interdiction is still at %10. I mean paragon 291 and I’m not even 1 level into ancestral ranks…
