Tempering - fastest way to ruin good gear

I agree 3GA should be rare, but why are 2GA almost as rare as 3GA?

And it’s completely their design. They could design the drops around playing not trading. I don’t care if someone wants to trade and cheat their experience. Until blizz embraces trading within game they should not balance around trade.

in my playtime in S4 i have found dozens of usable 2GA items for my builds.
I have also found around 20 3GA items, from which around… aprox 5 were useable. one, that i wanted to try, even had the right tempers and my rogue wears these boots right now.

usable 2ga items are not as rare as usable 3ga items, not by a long shot.

And no, no matter how hard people try to talk around it - its not the design. Sure - they “could” change it, and through developing it over time it will surely have great changes. But its not the designs fault that people want 3 ga items (which they dont really need). They should be super rare, and the design works.

TL:DR - The design is not perfect, but it works. If you have trouble dealing with it and the challenge, you should play something else. But most people wont haha thats why i always say: see you in S5!

Do you track or just say dozens? I have been tracking and it’s just not the case.

Looking at just legendaries it’s .15-.2% 3GA and .70-.75% 2GA. In the past 2250 items one has actually been usable and the tempering didn’t hit so it went in the trash.

why would i track it? i know i have seen way more usable 2gas than 3gas, and thats obvious/enough for me. besides - i dont play the game to track statistics or look for the negative.

i play games to have fun. and i like the “find ga and temper them” challenge, because you always can find something awesome.

the odds already tell us they are ultra-rare (useful 2 and 3 GA)
yeah, they need further work, thats what MWs is for
tempering is just rng for the sake of rng
the only purpose of the bricking mechanic is to frustrate

their itemization would work just fine bc the bulk of rng actually lies within finding the gear and MW it

everything you listed comes with the free trade philosophy
so it has everything to do with their intended game design

if you are willing to swallow anything they spit
thats a you problem

it depends, if their intention is to no one be able to perfect a single char, a single build in betwen expansions by only playing the game
yeah, it works “flawless”

i dont know about that
in every thread about tempering most people seem supporting changes to it
and its very hard to say that the global playerbase will differ too much from that

sure
but let me ask you this
will you deal with it if they decide to further change it in another patch?

yeah whatever. talk around and try to isolate sentences all you want.

It doesnt change that the design works and its a you-problem. Neither would anything change if you take every sentence, take it out of context and analyze it

I enjoy the game very mucho and i am looking forward to the further development of it. If you cant, i dont care. Sucks to be you, i guess. I am not here to discuss facts other people cant understand.

sooooo see you in S5

i isolated your arguments to adress each of them, it is requisite for a proper dialectica

what makes you feel i took it out of context? just by isolating it?

so, do you think there is some kind of moral hierarchy between your satisfaction and others insatisfaction?

im here to discuss different perspectives
how people perceive the game and it’s mechanics

thank you

Hans already provided very good counters to your arguments, but I’ll add some. There are so many bricking threads I’ve responded on so I think this will be the last.

Huh? This makes absolutely no sense in any meaningful way. Can you explain what you mean? How does bricking relate to itemization working and fitting? Trying to find context or meaning and just cant.

I don’t agree with this at all. The design is terrible with two extra layers of unnecessary RNG. and I see supporters of both sides with the majority on the side of tempering is not in a good spot. I’d say more like 70/30 or 60/40 but we’d have to poll folks.

What does buying items do if the chances of bricking are the same? That’s exciting game play- lets not focus on grinding for the right items to drop, lets focus on gold collection so we can buy items another player found so that we can try and temper those items, which may or may not work. :-1:

To the rest of the people out there, keep in mind these “strong defenders” of this garbage system play Barbs or Rogues where a small upgrade doesnt mean squat.

Stop crying, I have all my equipment complete with the tempering that I need and it has been based on suffering, breaking good objects and spending money, but just as they are ruined, they can also turn out magnificent, children

It wasnt good gear when it dropped.

It had potential.

A bit? I’ve not found one usable 3GA item yet, on any character. Let alone finding one for every slot, and not bricking any of them. Even useful 2GA items are as rare as hen’s teeth.

They need to hugely increase the drop rate of GA items, especially from mobs that are level 140 or 150. At that point, every second or third item should be GA

Finding a good 2GA or 3GA item with the stats you want on it is extremely difficult already. The chase is already there.

Kinda creepy to me. These pixels are why Ill never pay 80+ dollars for any game. Id rather spend that on a new side mirror for my 1985 300zx. I’m not going to be part of some game company’s tax farm. I wouldn’t feel this way if they had not started online pay to win shops

Ohh nice, i used to have a 1995 twin turbo 300zx. Fun car.

Yeah, it’s frustrating when it bricks to be sure. Your perception of the gear is off though.

The problem is you didn’t find an upgrade, YET. Tempering is part of determining the upgrade.

Another way of looking at it is if the drops already contained the tempering on them, you would look at it and say nice upgrade or vendor trash and move on without even thinking about it.

It’s the fact that we FEEL like we have an upgrade when we actually don’t until tempering is completed. The question then becomes do we want to have a temper system for the delayed knowing or not. One benefit of the tempering system is a somewhat more controlled process to finish off the possible upgrade - if we left it up to them to roll any old random tempering when it dropped you would likely never get the perfect stats.

It does play tricks on the mind, but the tempering station is probably better than some alternatives.

Disagree. Design does not work. Already changed once with more tempers per GA. This will not calm the angry cries enuf and more changes will come. Purposely trying to brick our items is never going to work long term to hit metrics. It just isnt. Players will rightfully revolt. Feel bads will ruin ur game eventually. Change design to feel gud. Expect more temper changes in future.

For me, the season is over. RIP

And yet people cant seem to wrap there head around the system itself. When an item drops its incomplete. It only becomes complete after tempering. Maybr you roll well maybe its suboptimal.

There will always be people who complain when they dont get what they want and its a loud minority. I still believe the most vocal are the credit card warriors that bought a item for $50-$200 and RNG told them they wasted there money.

If they removed limits ppl would be geared in the first day/two of the season then it will be “tHeRe Is No EnD gAmE” lolz

I dont think its a minority. They already changed tempering once. You dont do that for a minority. The tempering system is inherently flawed. Its not fun to ruin your items esp when reroll same thing over and over. I showed how to fix it with different manuals. This is how you fix it. Prevent bricks. But they want us to brick. That is a BIG issue.
