T7 Hordes Officially Suck. Glad I Won't Have to Think About them Anymore

Had all of the counter arguments like “well the monster level is higher!” as if that was actually an indication of anything - we don’t know know that monster level X in content A is acually the same stats as the same level in content B. Plus pits are straight lines, and hordes you are being surrounded constantly.

My point was if Blizzard’s intention was, as stated, for them to be alternatives to the pit for masterworking materials, why was Neathiron locked behind a tier many builds capable of getting past 60 in pits couldn’t do T7 hordes? Wasn’t that counter to their idea, regardless of anything as arbitrary as monster level?

Today I finished 12/12 on my character, was very easily doing 91 pits (190 monster level) and cleared 96 far earlier - I have no doubt I could push higher, but 91 was a great place for speed vs gains.

Jumped into tier 7 horde (180) monster level. I entered wave 6 or 7 with Hellbourne activated early and still only had 100 aethers because I couldn’t kill stuff fast enough. Then (as a random event, not one I picked,) burning butcher spawned, and he wound up being the last thing standing. He slammed me against the wall, and I don’t know if it was a glitch in the geometry or something, but neither my augmented evade or my unstoppable move could get me out of my position, so I ran through my potions trying frantically to move, and then died. Next round I died quickly to getting walled in and AOE’d before I could dodge out.

So, yeah, badly tuned content. At minimum.

Anyway, none of this matters in a month. Quite "eager’ to see how the expansion launches. If the PTR is an actual depiction of how things will go I have to assume at this point that Blizzard is vindictive because after a few changes in the right direction, it seems that everything I’ve seen complaints on has been made actively worse. A couple highlights:

  • Don’t like MW min/maxing RNG time sinks? No worry, you’ll almost never get anything that can be upgraded above 4.
  • Don’t like bricking? Don’t worry, most of the items you’ll get but HAVE to use are trash to begin with.
  • Pit’s boring? Here, now it’s the central mechanic for everything.

Well, if you read all the way to here, have a kissy from me :kissing_heart: I love you bye bye

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but IH are here to stay… This will remain “relevant” content even in VoH. It will probably compete with NMD’s for mats etc. and, if the guaranteed GA chest remains, be the premier source of ancestral items outside of VoH content, and may still be even considering VoH content.

lol sounds like you chose the wrong class/build

Oh I know, but I’m an eternal player and I’m only going to play casually and not try to push content once VOH is out because the last half year has made it abundantly clear Blizzard does not care at all about eternal and Blizzard has no qualms at all about stealing back every bit of power we grind for. I have a rl friend that plays, as long as she does I’ll play with her but that’s going to be the extent of my engagement.

I agree with you. A lot of builds are gated against T7. It would be a less of an issue if farming Neaths isn’t tied up with T7.

My first Sorc, a non LS build, I had to do multiple Pit 61 to 101 to get to 12/12 MW. I took the hard and long way because T7 is inaccessible to my build.

I think what needs to happen and probably this is what’s gonna happen in S6 is similar to how we still able to get Mythics in Torment 1 but more chances in Torment 4.

So IH in S6 will still give you mats and GA items but will get more and higher chances at higher Torment levels of IH. For example:

IH Torment 1: 50 Obducites with 20% GA Unique Item
IH Torment 4: 200 Obducites with 80% GA Unique Item

There are still benefit going higher IH torment levels if your build can take it.

imagine if they gave this interview before the Diablo IV release:

Can I make my own build and clear high level content in a reasonable amount of time?

NO

Well then can I modify and existing s-tier build and clear high level content in a reasonable amount of time?

NO

Can I play a non meta class and clear high level content in a reasonable amount of time?

NO

sword fights are similar to soccer in the athleticism required, 6’4" guys are at a natural disadvantage vs average height guys given similar muscular composition

reach? Oh yeah reach of your legs is super important in soccer lets look at all the greats:

messi 5’7"
pele 5’8"
maradona 5’5"
ronaldo 6’2"
beckenbauer 5’11"
ronaldo 6’
zidane 6’1"

predatory animals like tigers are similar, there are plenty of larger animals but big cats combine agility and strength the best

all a rhino can really do is run in a straight line and hope you arent quick enough to get out of the way

I think T7+ getting masterworking high tier mats is more of a “you can also do it this way if your build is good enough”. It’s not really meant to replace, it’s meant to augment. It just turns out that Hordes are more fun than Pits. Pits suck lol.

Meant to augment? They drop like 10-30x times the masterworking materials you get from a pit run. It’s just bad design, plain and simple - if you can’t do hordes 7 (and no, most builds and players can’t, despite what forum warriors say) you feel like a second-class player.

Dawww :kissing_heart:

What’s this about? (As relates to S6/VoH)

I have 3 alts who can clear T8 just fine with casual plays. Wtf are you talking about this game is ez and I’m actually bored again :joy:

I agree with op that hordes suck but just because they are incredibly boring. Hopefully NMDS will turn out good enough to get masterworking materials in voh because otherwise I will never care to masterwork my items ever again just so I don’t have to play this arena wave nonsense

obviously its a skill issue.

Choosing the wrong class/build shouldn’t be a thing. They should all be able to do T7 comfortably.

I personally love IH but I can understand as I’ve done T7 on multiple toons. There can be a pretty big variance depending on what type of dmg focus (aoe vs single target) you are playing.

yes and no i think.

i mean, sure potentially all class and all main skill should allow you to do T7 or even T8 and each skill should have the same potential.
(though sadly will never happen)

That being said, not all build should be able to do T7 or T8 comfortably

What i mean by that is that for example let’s take any random skill : pulverize.
It should be able to do T7 and T8 comfortably potentially.

But not every pulverize build should be able to ; only the ones that are well thought and have a nice balance.

and here lies maybe OP’s problem
Lacking in term of well-thought board or equipment wise

At the beginning yeah but it get too monotonuos too quick especially when it is the best place to farm by far it gets too repetitive and boring too quick

I always mean a well put together build when I say stuff like that.

I agree. It gets boring after a while. I can only handle a few runs before I have to break. Even though they are only like 10 mins, I feel like 9 waves are too much for something so monotonous in a small room like that.

Its the same reason I can’t sit at helltides doing the maiden all day. It’s even the same reason I can’t do pits all day. I know everyone hates nightmare dungeons but I honestly prefer them.
