Vulnerable is now even more important than ever with the storm swell aspect being buffed to 21-30% damage increase
Yeah… devs have no ready answer for vul. So instead of lessening its importance, they increased sorc’s affinity with it. Still nothing compared to other classes.
To be fair, that aspect needed to be buffed because it was more conditional than conceited. Conceited is still available for just 5% less damage bonus.
it’s also the only dps buff to cold builds I saw in the patch notes. Edit: Frozen Orbit got buffed too. Survivability affects all builds, but it’s not like cold is doing as well as druid, necro and rogue.
Feel like sorc has a ways to go to by on part with other classes, but it’s a good start.
Also the other classes got pretty good buffs so their power increases along with the small quality of life buffs the sorc got, so that leaves the sorc again in last place.
Next patch they will focus on giving more buffs to the barbarian and I’m sure the sorc is going to get some scraps again that are not going to address the major issues with the sorcerer class.
Exactly. We got buffs but the rest did too. We just moved the goal posts higher but still we are last. At least we got Barb as our companion now lol
Besides the resistances thing, we still dont have several ways to apply vulnerable, besides going cold build. The Vulnerable glyph on Sorc doesnt apply vulnerable like it does to all the other classes (sans Nerco). Allow it to apply vulnerable upon damaging an enemy would quickly fix the issue that Sorc has with applying vulnerable with Shock and fire.
Also after the HUGE nerfs in the beta to Sorc’s damage, Sorcs damage to bosses and structures is bad, besides the bug that was “fixed” with stagger. So in legion events , Sorc doesnt little to no damage to structures. Sorcs always have to wait till one of the other classes comes along to be able to destroy these structures.
There are still many Sorc aspects, uniques that still have “negatives” that were not addressed or fixed.
But why only a start? The devs had no issue nuking CDR and the bonus damage to CCed (forgot its name) aspect. The whole point of 1.1.1 was to even things out. I did not realize it is a 5 year plan.
Honestly, if this is the balance approach, I think I will just drop the game till the next expansion. Why wait for devs taking baby steps?
this is exactly true. Storm swell should be more due to conditions, i think it needs to be buffed further to compete with conceited. I would pick conceited over SS. The only thing is conceited is REALLY hard to find. just found my first one at level 91 two days ago.
I use a shards/blizz build and ive been using inner calm on my source…yea there are times when i have to run around like a madman but if i can freeze stuff through blizzard stacks and standstill i just blow stuff away. Where there are lots of elites i usualyl try to stand in a corner and fire away pew pew style
Yeah I think SS is a Destructive Ice Shards only aspect, but you may have both for an ice shards build.
The buff to storm swell is mainly for ice sorc, the rest can just use the conceited aspect and will still be fine.
I’m more upset about the ND boss HP buff, it’s bad enough that they already circumvent many of sorcs damage sources and defensive mechanics but soon they’ll be able to do it while having up to 250% of their current HP.
They did buff defense to sorc not reliant on cc, but yeah I’m concerned about how slow sorc will kill bosses. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise so it will be more obvious that sorc needs better single target damage. The boss HP buff seems a little unpopular so might not make the final patch notes.
It is ridiculous. Nothing more to say. I so much hope that PoE2 feels as I imagine. I cannot be arsed anymore with this game for the time being. This incompetence and inability is mind bogging. If I would facepalm myself as hard as I should, I’d pass out for minutes.
This aspect is still bad. I much rather use the 25% with barrier only. Not worth for 5% more.
There are way too many passives, paragon nodes, and aspects that simply get disabled when fighting bosses. There are others whose value is greatly diminished against bosses as well. They really need to rethink the stagger mechanic for bosses. Builds that focus on stagger make all bosses trivial regardless of how much health they have. If they’re laying on the ground the entire fight, it just takes longer.
was not useful pre patch still not useful post patch, too many condition has to be meet for 5% more damage compare to conceit
They won’t do this, but if the aspect had a chance to apply vulnerable while barrier active as well, then I think non-ice shards would seriously look at it.
Remember the order of events:
- Devs felt comfortable nuking CDR and doing a bunch of other changes without communicating
- Community Riots
- Devs so scared of everything now that they have to buff stuff in tiny increments, because reverting the smallest buff wiill lead to another riot
So the devs weren’t scared at first, but the community scared them.
The real question is how were they surprised by the community reaction to a 40%+ nerf to damage output for nearly all classes/builds, a 20% nerf to XP gains across the board, a 35-50% nerf to effective health, and a large decrease to CDR. Was there ever going to be some other reaction to that type of patch two days before the season?
they never gonna change that, they rather rework the entire damage system comes in future patch then given us an aspect or glyph that can proc vulnerable. best thing u can do is use frozen orb enchantment with 3 points in frozen orb for none ice build to have additional way to proc vulnerable beside nova.
It is a big question, but less relevant today.
Scared Devs and a community that doesn’t understand why the devs are scared is what is happening right now.
