I havent played any of the other classes yet. I chose to play the rogue only during this beta. I definitely enjoyed the game and I have a lot of ideas and suggestions but there is one thing I would really hope to address with the rogue (and possibly other classes so if you played Sorc or Barb please chime in)
The skill bar is just too small…
For rogue at least, 6 options just does not seem like enough. I am trying to build around the class skills and legendary aspects but I never have enough options to use the set of skills I would like so that I can play in the style I want.
I want to be able to pop in and out of stealth while placing traps and caltrops and dealing some melee damage while enemies are in the caltrops and poison, then back off and shoot them with my bow. I just cannot do that because I dont have enough skill options. I feel like the choice to only have 6 is very limiting.
I understand that console players have a limited amount of button options (and i was playing with controller mind you) but there are ways around that problem that have been around for many years now, such as hold left bumper down and all your buttons are remapped while holding it giving you nearly twice as many mapping options.
So I think that 8-10 might be a good sweet spot. Balancing may become a tad more difficult but the options for play style open up a lot more and player freedom is huge. So far, while i have enjoyed playing because its fresh and newish, I can see getting bored with the class pretty quickly. I dont even use any of the “ultimate” abilities because i just dont have room to do so. I have to sacrifice core mechanics of the build i WANT to make for what gets me by with the 6 available slots.
