My skills are just not working… at all. I can press the buttons and see that it’s registering the clicks. I can’t even town portal or evade. Cant attack destructibles. I can talk to NPCs. I can move. I can open my map. I can get attacked by creatures. I can type in chat. I can even go to different towns using wps.

I had the same issue, same with my husband, after we left game and rejoined we were able to go as normal.
Just had this happen to me too, just as I entered a cellar and ran into a bunch of enemies. Relogging fixed it, but yeah weird bug to run into.

Happened to me and a friend tonight as well, unfortunately got us both killed Hardcore level 32 characters.
Seems to happen when zoning into portals sometimes. You’ll find you can’t use any abilities or even attack, pressing T to portal wasn’t working either. I had to actually click a town on the world map to teleport back to town then relog to fix it.
Just happened to me during Rohaksa Fight(@ Door to mommy dearest in A1).
Nothing worked at all except: ONLY Emote Wheel and ESC functioned.
Thankfully I did significant damage and just ran in circles while the kiddo killed the mini boss.
S/E, full restart just to be sure fixed it.
Same. Relogging now to see if that fixes it.
same problem here,attack keys don’t work, portal doesn’t work either
Restarting the game isn’t working for me. I cannot use skills at all
+1 also happened to me and fixed by going back to character selection screen. Still a bug though.
I came onto the forums this morning to post this one myself…
Had it happen twice…
First time zoning into the cellar for the Axe quest… had to die would have been super pissed if i was playing HC
Second time right at the end of Act 1… teleported back to town and abilities broken…
There appears to be some kind of disconnect between the UI and the Game logic… you can see the UI is responding correctly… all button pushes are registering but no attacks can be made at all… you can move around drink potions… be attacked… but cant do anything else really…
Yeah, my HC character just died before I realized nothing was working.
Only level 40 but still -_-
Not playing hardcore for a while until all the bugs are ironed out.

Same this has happened about five times to me; it happens after a TP or loading screen
Would be nice to know what causes this. I have a feeling it’s a simple toggle. It seems that the server still thinks you are in town and that’s why your attacks don’t work but everything else does.
add me to the list, 2nd time this has happened, happening once per day.
new client updated after exiting out of client. 1.0.2.42122.
using nvidia clean install drivers 535.98. only thing running is discord and twitch stream.
Try to figure out what triggers it. For me, it was simply returning to town.
I should add, I alt-tabbed while in town. All information helps.
Diablo 4 Hardcore Character. Took a friends TP, Abilities/actions we’re unable to be used. Left game in a safe spot (can’t tp can’t use abilities) - dead message after leaving, on character select screen.
This bug has happened randomly several times since launch the past few days for a few of us. (being unable to do anything in game, while in the open world, except run around)
Action’s / evade, skills, mount, town portal, nothing will work, except running around.
Had to leave game other times to fix the issue, worked fine after.
This happened differently this time, taking a friends portal, instead of it happening randomly in the world. When I arrived there were a few random mobs running around but not on top of me. I ran away quickly after I figured out I couldn’t use any actions, Ran to a corner off screen of any enemies, at 100% full HP, told my friend to cover me on discord, that I was leaving the game to fix, He said he didn’t see me anywhere on the screen or map.
After a loading screen, ended up on the character screen with a “please acknowledge your character death, deeds will be remembered in hall of fallen heroes” or whatever. About 10 sec after I left the game and got this message, my friend said he saw my name say I died in game to a Fallen… after My characted disappeared off screen?
Mind you, I had full 100% hp, nothing on screen, a fire shield sorc enhancement to prevent death, and an active elixir of cheat death, when i left game.

I know this will probably not get resolved, but my friend said the same thing happened to him after a cut scene, he left because unplayable, said he got the death message on character select, then his character was available again after a short while, not dead?
I’ve watched people leave game before and their character phases out and doesn’t get attacked, and logs out of the server almost instantly.
This feels horrible after no lifing for 29 hr with no sleep, pushing first 1000 to lvl 100 harcore race, since the minute of launch with no sleep.
Never once came close to dying then a game breaking bug, and I die somehow after i logged to the character select screen?
This was one of the best launches I’ve ever witnessed from blizz, except for this bug we encountered several times.
That really sucks. They should def postpone the race to 100 for season 1.
It seems they have a quit game timer of 10 seconds so no more chicken strats.
So I think I figured it out. I think it’s caused by alt + tabbing out and then CLICKING back in. I was able to alt + tab out and back in cleanly to solve the problem.
I was in a situation where relogging wasn’t an option. Hope that helps!
