This worked.
Girlfriend had the bug where she could not interact with anything in the game. Alt tabbing out of Diablo, and then alt tabbing until she got back into Diablo 4 worked and now she can do everything again.

I can confirm that it has osmething to do with Alt+ tabing out of the game. I havent figured out how to fix it yet.

just happened to me as well.
I was entering “Darkened Holt” and went afk in that area. After coming back, no skills or evade could be used. If this helps in any way fixing the bug, I recorded it (sadly not from the point of it occuring): Diablo 4 Bug Skills not working - YouTube
Alt tabbing doesn’t work for me, nor does switching to windowed mode and back.
This happened to me twice now, each time on entering an instance (dungeon/cellar).
I want to let everyone know that I was able to fix it by teleporting to any quick travel and back through the portal. Once I did that everything works fine, did not have to exit game or anything.

happened to me for the first time today, i had activated my nightmare dungeon, relogged, fixed the spells, but the dungeon was reset and my sigil lost. Kinda stupid…

Happened to me also. I was in open world and going to quest objective when out of nowhere my skills stopped working.
No loss for me just a relog.
Chiming in with a “me too”. Happened to me twice since launch, friend of mine mentioned it as well.
Happened to me 4 times as of now
and it CAN happen out of dungeons too…
I’m not doing HC anymore, just not worth it.

Happened to me only relog fixed it but this will suck when we have queues next week.
I’ve had this happen twice as well. Relogging was the only way I could fix it.
This has happened to me twice now. Can see the abilities on the bar flashing like I am clicking or pressing the button but nothing happens.
1st time was when I went to the quest where you destroy the possessed Woodsman’s Axe. put the axe in the pot and couldn’t attack anything when it started.
2nd time was in the Offal Pits in act 3 with Lorath for the “whispers of the Past” quest. As soon as I entered the Offal Pits none of my attacks or abilities worked again.
Had to leave game to the character select both times to fix. Seems to have something to do with entering a new area. Not sure if it is just dungeons and cellars or if it can trigger in open world too. I know leaving the area you just entered back to open world does not fix it.
This has happened to me twice as well. Frustrating the second time as I was up to the boss in a dungeon. Only fix is to quit game.
I don’t know if the following information will help anyone. But…
I never use Alt + Tab to leave a game to desktop.
Instead, I just press the Start key. (Also known as the Windows-key). Doing this brings up the Taskbar and opens the Start Menu. From there, I can run a program from the Start Menu. In my case, I usually click a program icon I have pinned on the Taskbar. When I’m done, I click the game icon on the Taskbar to return to the game. (For games I run in Fullscreen).
Note: From my experience in D4, clicking on the game icon will take me back to the game. But, it leaves the Taskbar visible. I believe that’s because D4 does not currently have an option to play at Fullscreen. Clicking anywhere in D4’s main screen clears this up.
In the meantime, Blizzard should look into this.
I had this after the coffin, Couldn’t do a thing but move around. Left and re-entered the game fixed it.
Just had this happen after opening my paragon menu when I was about 90% of the way through a nightmare dungeon. Had to relog and lost the dungeon. These kinda bugs are brutal and need to be fixed asap.
Same happened to me as well. Re-logging helped, but had to restart the whole quest.
happened to me in the middle of a boss fight…
This is a terrible bug…was at the boss fight in a dungeon, had to reset the entire dungeon because I couldn’t attack or use abilities due to this…so frustrating. Happens about 30 percent of the time I portal back to town.
Damn man, that really sucks sorry. It happened to me but I just had to re clear a dungeon. Will try the alt+tab thing next time and hope that works instead of having to relog.
