Seriously, no way to turn off other players?

For a big number of people, having other people around is just plain downgrade to their enjoyment. Just let us opt out. We’re not going to group with little Timmy either way.

Having a private/solo world toggle (should technically not be solo, as it should be possible to form your own groups, like in D2 and D3) is just a win/win for everyone.
The people who want the forced multiplayer are better off not having those around who dont want to play with them.
Me being in your group (actual group or Blizzards randomly deciding to throw us into the same event) is not a foundation for a good teamwork experience. I dont want to play with you.

Sure wish ppl would read up on the game before playing so they wouldn’t have such bad info and look like fools when they come to cry.

You are making fun of others names but you named yourself HAvok? I think maybe D4 isnt for you, try Grim Dawn its a great solo player game. Best of luck on that.

Between now and launch preferably.

I never want to see another human being in my games. Ever.

I’m also shocked that the mods have turned the forums into a free-fire zone.

I HATE being forced to play with other people. I was just doing a quest where a random player miles away from me killed the enemies before I could even get there. It literally ruins quests… I played multiple characters so I knew the quest already but I’m worried my first playthrough will be ruined if this is allowed to happen. There should be an option not to have random people kill enemies during my quest.

I would like the option to not see everyone else’s characters in town but the worst part is doing quests out in the wild when you’re trying to play solo. I just want to play the first playthrough alone and likely all my playthroughs solo. All I want is the option to truly play solo. If there is really forced multiplayer in solo games then its going to ruin my overall experience and completely kill longevity for me.

I don’t want to have a story quest in the wild and have the boss explode while I’m on the other side of the map because of random players I don’t want to play with.

played for maybe 6 hours today and other than seeing 1 other person who helped me kill a group of mobs since i guess we were doing the same quest i went from 1-20 without seeing anyone. i would rather see more people than this online solo playing game. if you dont want to see other people diablo probably was never the game for you

If you don’t see other players, how would they advertise their battle pass cosmetics and make money?

Think of the poor executives who must pay their yacht’s kitchen staff for goodness sake.

You are complaining as if people didn’t use those names before in D2 and D3 or in other games, MMO including! That’s part of the immersion, maybe the moms of those heroes had no idea how to name their children so they came up with those silly names.

Agree, I am 100% fine seeing others (outside my group) in town. We can show off cosmetics and stuff there. We can even make groups in town.

However, outside of town I only want to see people if they are in my group. If I am solo I don’t want to see others in combat areas.

I think the core issue here being, that not everyone simply likes to have random players in their game, some people simply enjoy Solo-play.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with either.
If you prefer the occasional encounter, yay.
If you don’t, yay.
Like why the hell does anyone feel the need to bash someone else for having a different subjective opinion over something that would not even remotely impact your experience?
Get a grip guys.

The issue for me with this is simply, that it ruins my experience as it causes a lot of rubberbanding in open world areas, as the servers unlike with other games, seem to CONSTANTLY update your Computer with information on where someone else is, not just if they are within vicinity.
And I have a 500mbit connection.
So it’s neither poor internet nor a bad PC. I have constant rubberbanding in any area, that features random player encounters.

Yes it is a Beta, but that alone should suffice for allowing players to opt out of these.
Besides, I enjoy playing games with friends, but I do agree personally, I’d prefer to be able to opt in and out, out of my own volition.

But do you see me bash or insult someone that likes it?
No.
Cause I have nothing to compensate for, no insecurities, nor any anger issues.

Let people have their own preferences and argue about any aspect from an objective point of view. Don’t let your emotions get in the way of how someone else approaches a certain mechanic that is not fundamental to the existence of a product. Nor core to it’s mechanical performance in terms of gameplay.

90% of the game is mmo garbage. World quests and world bosses are a major part of the game now. The diablo franchise as many of us know it is completely dead.

As of now i really don’t see a reason and need to have multiplayer in the open world. 100% of my encounters were other people just killing the mobs i was also killing or some other right next to me. No interaction at all. Ohhh … right … the world boss. Yea, there it made sense. But a company in 2023 could just add a “dungen / people finder” like lost ark has.

“Welcome to the Diablo IV beta” or whatever it said- Great, I thought.

Now is the time where I get free reigns. Takes a quest in Kyovashad, exits the gates and rounds a corner. Game freezes, a pack of enemies appear out of nowhere, I rubberband in and out of them for a second before they explode. A bear had apparently mauled them during my freeze frames. The bear precedes down my path followed by two other characters just blasting everything in their path. I’m essentially lagging about in the dust of their rampage. I decide to take another route to avoid their presence. But of course, I had to backtrack to where they went because they were on the same quest as me.

Oh well, that’s not for me. I go to disable this “feature” which ultimately led me here.

Is this how Diablo IV is going to play?

@ O.P. this is how games are now, if don’t want to interact with others you don’t have to. Think of it this way the person standing next to you that you are trying to ignore is giving you a 5% experience boost :).

Correct me if I’m wrong but blizzard did say that players should be able to play game without any other players interfering from start to finish, at least through the story related content. I played on EU servers and there were a LOT of player generated lag that comes with a LOT of players camping event spots for no reason.

This game feels really immersive and I’d love to have my little own journey where I am the hero and I want to feel myself as one. Seeing other dudes walking to my chest, open it, walk up to my mobs and destroy them with one spell sucks much a*s imo. It’s fine to see other dudes in the city to party up with them for world bosses that is really cool, that makes world boss content more valuable.
I’m pretty sure there will be little to none rubberbanding once the game launches, yet overall feel that I got from open world is that minmaxers already killed Lilith and her goons so I don’t really have to bother much about that, just frustrating

I’d love and option to party up with people on my terms when I want because this is my journey about me being a hero right? if I want to be a villain then at least let me kill them on the spot if that is an MMO, this feels misdirected. And if I feel like I’m not powerful enough I’d sure call for help. (Also some players once they see you just keep chasing you for no reason and ruin some more immersion) if that is just a toggle for blizzard I hope it comes with launch, hell I’d even pay for that feature.

The best thing in this thread is the fact that it actually provides proof for the need of what the author suggested.
All those people popping up here without anything constructive to say, only to attack someone, call them names etc. - that is PRECISELY the reason why some of us prefer to have it fully offline. I don’t want to meet people like that in game, and put up with their bs.
Oh, and the lack of lag and a possibility of actual pause would be neat too.

Then blizzard would have already gotten your money.
