Season 6: My thoughts so far

2 weeks per character while playing 2-3 hours most days. 2-3 characters per season is a normal serious commitment. Much more than a casuals playtime. Unfortunately they killed completely the desire to level alts and forced that one character to take 1.5 -2 months to finish.

I tried logging in and playing the base game with the changes and didn’t really have any fun. Not really sure why. Maybe the loot scarcity? Maybe the entire game being designed the way it was with a totally different concept to start?

One thing is for sure this isn’t It’s Ready When It’s Ready Blizzard quality. We’ve had 3 different versions of this game now and I don’t think the changes are over yet as it still doesn’t feel quite right.

Legendaries are just worthless aspect gear with an extra affix on them so meh. The whole Aspect system is just bad imo and devalues the loot. It’s just completely the wrong idea when every slot has legendaries all over them as it devalues them. Even uniques feel nothing like legendary gear most of the time and just an enhanced Aspect. And if it never changes the loot will always be bad imo. Mythic or Uber Uniques as no one wants to call them now magically, are okay at least but again it’s like putting square puzzle pieces together with all the bland stats it’s so terrible. It’s like someone took all the best multipliers and other stats and cut them up into puzzle pieces then kept the best ones to be smashed together into Mythic Uniques. But everything else just sucks and is so boring and bland you have to squeeze the fun out of it by farming for greater affixes by grinding over and over again for boring stat upgrades… And the tempering system the way it’s been built adds insult to injury. It’s such a trainwreck. Who thinks this is good design and fun? Have you ever played a very well put together game in your life?

I’m never ever excited for loot in this game (Loot Reborn felt for once like that was going to change). It’s all a really bad gimmick and chore to deal with and I tried hard to get into it since last year.

Diablo 4 feels like a mobile game, but they were nice enough not to charge us for all the upgrades.

Spot on!

Total disrespect for players that invest + 200 hours a season. Deleted everything incl. last seasons maxed 12/12 geared char. I bought the expansion and it did let med down so thoroughly that I’ll probably won’t return to this mess.

Season 5 was decent, but S6 is horrible.
Blizzard made this game to please the hardcore players while the majority of us - casuals / semi casuals - are left out.

Feel so dumb for supporting this franchise buying tons og cosmetics and the über version og the exp.

As the opposite example of small-chance statistics, I got one on my first tormented boss kill of the expansion.

Of course, it was still useless to both my characters!

I would add to the list… GOLD.

I am casual (non-expansion player here) and played 89hrs only so far and constantly between 50-100M. I do every helltide 2 wisp caches and sell pretty much everything because the gear I get mostly is so trash that there is no chance that I need resources for gear change.

I am stuck with my FO sorc (lvl230) in T2-T3, have 3 slots only with 750 items, GA hardly dropping even in T3. Sometimes I try to improve my masterworking on current gear but the RNG tends to be so bad that it drains 15-30M of my pocket per session. I am solo and don’t want to get into trading (not that I find anything worthy) but without that, I doubt I can get out of this situation.

I know it is just me but the only class that I played so far and can classify as controller friendly is the necro, the others seem just too much. The skill rotation is complex enough for most builds that I get finger strain just by playing for about an hour.

Season 5 was only good because they needed to sell the expansion.

The game isn’t even fun. Undercity is a waste of time cause the rewards even with tribute suck, NMD a waste of time cause the drops suck, Hordes are boring and feels like grinding in an MMO for exp, pit is boring same as hordes. Shoot, only helltide is really any fun because you can get whisper cache and pop the chests which actually give boss mats which is about the only thing that matters anymore and gives any excitment . Since drop rate on ancestral is garbage and Blizzard thinks they are making an MMO and need 5 thousand different gatekeeping mechanics to force you to grind for weeks on end, you may as well spend what time you have on bosses and the chance for mythics. When your progress in the game hits a brick wall and they force you to grind the most boring activities for materials like an MMO, they screwed up.

i obviously didnt read all of that text, unless there is a podcast link for it, that is a waste of time nowadays…nevertheless my thoughts are that an auction house is needed (so that you dont get duped from 3rd party site like diablo trade) and some buffs are needed for spiritborn to clear more easily > pit 140, since the evade build playing with one button is starting to have issues. other than that, the season of the spiritborn is awesome!

Some really good points. My biggest issue and the reason I’ve stopped playing already just getting certain aspects. I’m not talking about getting the best versions of aspects. I literally mean just getting 1 copy of a certain aspect.
I’m playing SB (aren’t we all) because I really love dot bases mechanics. I’m wanting to do a full poison build, I just want 1 copy of the Menacing Aspect, just 1, just the basic version. That’s all. My character is level 60, I believe I’m just over 100 paragon points in T1. Doing pits, NMD, whispers, helltides, buying boots with orbols (as they have best chance to roll it) and I just can’t get this one aspect.
I’ve got to the point that I just can’t be arsed to play. I have no problem with uniques/mythic uniques and all the best gear being hard to get but by this point in the game progression, you need to have every aspect available.

What progression? I’m on T3 with most of my gear still lv750. I haven’t seen ANY upgrades at all. Grinding like this is for MMOs. Blizzard seems to think they are making a new MMO with the mechanics designed to make you play forever. They want you to grind for materials all day, NOT gear because gear doesn’t drop, it’s all vender trash.

Nothing that drops is interesting, that’s the whole point. The activities are boring fighting trash mobs with no real mechanics to it for little to no reward. It’s not fun!

I just want to point out that some of the “difficulty balance is bad”, “i got oneshot” sentiment comes from Temerity unique item’s barrier being completely bugged. It bugged to 3 barrier (instead of 100% max hp, around 4k) and got me killed several times before i realized what was going on.

Now I realized everytime I zone a door I have to hover my barrier and check the value and if it’s bugged, take Temerity off and put it back on again. Should we have to do this? No. Is this a difficulty balance bug? No.

The bigger issue is the fact that Spiritborn has so many bugs making it overpowered that it can effortlessly clear everything, while other classes struggle… and this seems to be something that will not be fixed at all… Which means the only way to play Season 6 is to play spiritborn and pretend the other classes don’t exist, otherwise you will feel ridiculously underpowered, especially in the new groups-required content (yuck).

Yep - I did the same. Got so frustrated with the mess and grinding that just stopped and deleted my lvl 243 SB char and then proceeded to del all my Eternal Chars and uninstall the game. I’m done with D4 - its too much work for too little return and at this stage it doesnt feel like a game but a huge gambling loop.

Just my own take…apart from being half baked and a lot more bugs.
This is the most imbalanced in d4 short history.

As a non-SB, Season 6 is by far the least fun that I’ve ever had playing D4, which considering the game is saying a lot.

Yeah, I hate to admit it but I am utterly bored this season. I’ve lost the will to do anything once I log in. It has taken me 4 days so far to gain 2 paragon points on my 2nd guy. I agree levelling was way too fast but now, urg! The gear drops are just awful. As you say, boss run after boss run and if the unique you need does actually drop it is not ancestral. Ancestral drop rates are generally terrible and these should be improved overall in torment levels. Also, ancestrals, T1 should be always 1GA, T2 2GA and so on. T4 should have a much better chance at multi-GA uniques. This way we actually have a reason to progress and want to get to the next torment level, just like we used to for World Tiers.

This right here is the reason why Diablo 4 is aiming to D3 direction …
He wants to blast…like be super OP since start to finish.
I wont even mention that campaign is broken because of S4 changes and all that happened since…try playing it now from start to finish…since A3 everything is joke(played Druid,Sorc and Barb this season) and i recorded whole thing on my YT chanel.
Are we even playing same game ?
Legendary loot scarcity WHAT ? lol, they are everywhere…
Ancestral Gear - yes its scarcer and it’s it good middle spot
Ancestral Uniques - had even GA Tyraels drop from PIT boss…
Iron chunks and Rawhide - i have absolutly no idea what you talking about, i have so much mats that i dont know what to do with it.

I have a life and job and i play only after work for like 4 hours /day max … casual i would say.
Oh OK i took a week off at work for release.

Then you playing wrong or you lying…
I’m playing HC only and i alrdy buried druid, rogue and barb
I made my 5th char so far and upg from iLVL750 , like 1GA items are everywhere…like even one inventory at gamble will give you several…
In fact it’s so easy to gear up that i find it ridiculous some player complaining that it’s hard…
On T1 while doing pits are upgrading ur glyphs to lvl15 for starters you will get also many GA items. Do like few inferrnal hordes …boom there are GA items ,like everytime i think they are guaranteed there. Etc…
If you not 1
GA in every slot after ur glyphs are 20ish then you can’t play the game…
Masterwork them after and you can go higher in no time.

For me it’s much better than spending 50h+ to find single possible upgrade then spending 350m trying to enchant it, still not getting the right affix. At least I didn’t get to brick it so far.

I don’t know about you but I don’t think a lot of people will be able to play so called end game for 300h every season.

I tried to farm some experience today since we have a buff. After about 2h I felt the urge to uninstall the game. Looks like I almost at my breaking point.

I have like 130-140 hours between my SB and barbarian. I don’t think I would be able to push past pit 80 with if it wasn’t for my SB. I don’t remember when was the last time my SB got an actual upgrade.

How many hours should a player waste grinding before being able to ask for better drop rates without being called entitled?

This is a video game. People paid to have fun and relax while playing. Yet they’re being called entitled because there are some people out there who can mindlessly do same things every day for 3 months.

Ancestral being way too rare and runes not dropping nearly enough is what’s making me stop playing this season. Who thought that requiring runes along with the sparks was a good idea ?

I have to disagree with this take, although I understand where you’re coming from. I don’t think people mind putting time into the game and earning proportionate rewards to build their character over the season, but it would make more sense if you could actually work toward something that was meaningful, building along the way with purpose, as opposed to everything hinging on RNG. As it is now, the ‘end game’ is grinding and gambling over and over, and if you manage to slog all the way through the trash and useless GAs, those perfect roles don’t do anything magical except boost your damage and pit clear, so you can grind and farm faster. It’s a pointless loop that’s about as brain dead as running on a hamster wheel. No thanks!
