Weird question don’t know anything about this thing but it looks like if offers a lot of QOL upgrades. So wondering what about it is the bad side that blizzard would say is cheating? While I understand its against the TOS I’m asking what about it blizzard couldn’t just add to UI turn on functions and so forth to give players more QOL changes. I mean they basically already allow overwolf to do its thing. Its been out for a while now and they never said anything until Turbohud 4 came out so I’m kind of confused on this. This post is mainly just for knowledge please don’t attack just trying to understand.
attack bois! cheater detected! Fluke exposed!
wish I had enough effort just to play currently game is uninstalled lol just asking the question about how they decide what to allow and not allow currently the TOS seems to be in the power of hey we just chose and u deal with it. Which isn’t really an agreement.
They have outlined the terms of use of their software. You did not buy the software, you bought the right to access it, provided you abide by their rules, and that access can be revoked for any reason, at any time.
Don’t like those terms. Ok. Don’t click accept.
The game was not developed with a public facing API (like wow is) and as a result these kinds of things aren’t allowed. Blizzard isn’t going to scrutinize everything people come up with to mod the game and deem it cheating or not cheating, and will just ban people when they see fit to do so
I just looked at TurboHUD and from what it seems it’s a HUD overlay that improves on the clunky HUD that the blizzard developers built… it doesn’t influence the code, just simply runs on top of the game… so I find it ridiculous that they are threatening players who want a better experience by preventing third party tools that make their game better?
WoW has plenty of addons that do actually influence code, so this is a very strange approach.
Maybe design better UI?
- It accesses information from the game that’s not meant to be shown to the player.
- Blizzard has no control over the future development of this ‘tool’, as it expands its feature set. Would you like to be warned now not to use it, or would you like to end up updating to a version someday and then get your account banned and lose your characters and purchase of the game?
So…MSFT should just make the deal 69.0005B, have Activiation wrap up TurboHUD in the deal, incorporate the non ‘cheating’ but useful QoL issues where the code is already completed and make all of our lives better!
A better UI will result in less playtime, which means lower number metrics, which means an unhappy Bobby.
People really can’t resist to use external softwares/tools lol
It allows access to real time data displayed in ways that the game does not natively provide.
Yes, it is QoL, but it is also accessing and displaying data that Blizzard does not want displayed.
I want an Overlay map too and it is a huge QoL, but I won’t use third party software that risks my account to do it. Hopefully Blizzard creates that feature. Until then, I will keep a reference map on my other monitor.
People have already been banned for that so no, they don’t really let it do its thing. It is a huge risk to use any outside software with Blizzard games.
Here are the EULA terms that the Hacks Team has to enforce.
License Limitations. Blizzard may suspend or revoke your license to use the Platform, or parts, components and/or single features thereof, if you violate, or assist others in violating, the license limitations set forth below. You agree that you will not, in whole or in part or under any circumstances, do the following:
- Derivative Works: Copy or reproduce (except as provided in Section 1.B.), translate, reverse engineer, derive source code from, modify, disassemble, decompile, or create derivative works based on or related to the Platform.
- Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:
- cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard (whether accomplished using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise), influencing and/or facilitating gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;
- bots; i.e. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game, or any other feature of the Platform, e.g. the automated control of a character in a Game;
- hacks; i.e. accessing or modifying the software of the Platform in any manner not expressly authorized by Blizzard; and/or
- any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that can be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof which changes and/or facilitates the gameplay or other functionality;
Don’t forget that if you are buying the HUD, that means less money for the battle pass!
Imagine a world where external software is useless, because the original UI design is great. One can always dream…
You are not allowed to modify the game using third party programs.
That is all there is to it.
They don’t care if it has QoL or not, Just don’t modify their game
No, this is not me “defending” for any one assuming that.
I am just explaining what i assume the reasoning is
I just looked up what the UI MOD is, it’s an overlay that has a few minor QOL improvements for the UI, those things are not the issue. The issue I see is it can show you an unexplored map of the dungeon you are in which would be unfair as you would be able to just go directly to the chests/boss etc without accidentally going the wrong direction.
Where is the mod where I can spawn world bosses more frequently?
please for the love of god I hope blizzard bans turbohud users in d4
it kinda ruined the competetive aspect of pushing greater rifts in d3 already, I dont want the same bs to happen in this game aswell
oh noes, it is so important to spend so much time wandering around a dungeon, the player experience will be downgraded if they know where to go.
“Competitive aspect” in a Diablo game…
Oh Lord.
It’s a maphack. 20chars.
