Saw the post on Turbohud4 question about it

Or you know… You could just use your brain to memorize tilesets. Not only does this train your brain to become better at memory and helps to prevents mental diseases when you get older, it also helps you not to become a cheater!

I see that as a pure W.

The player experience will be downgraded for sure, especially those who pay to see a fully explored dungeon map compared to those who don’t pay and have to explore the map themselves. The players that have an advatage over others who don’t have it will know where chests are, shrines, bosses etc and will be able to preplan a more effecient route and be able to progress quicker than others.

If you are willing to spend $40 million a month or what ever the cost is to purchase every player a copy of the mod so it’s fair for all then by all means, contact Blizzard and let them know lol.

There is more than one tileset?

Some call it a myth, some a legend. But I’ve personally seen more than one tileset! :alien:

oh noes, players have a more efficient way of playing a single player game! whatever will I do, such unfairness!

If you beat Doom Eternal on the hardest difficulty, do you care that others beat it on the easiest difficulty?

Found it funny that they would name drop the actual software and man had they not name dropped the software I never would have gone looking for it. Some of the features it has are just insane how they are not just baseline. Like the aspect screen telling you their names without needing to click on them.

The reason, as silly as it is, is that they intend the game to be clunkier, in terms of the information it provides to the player, than the mod does, because in being clunkier it takes longer to do things than if it were smoother, and that “speed delay” is intended design.

Silly, and anti-player, but there it is. NB – I have never used the mod, and have no dog in the fight, but being against players having more QOL because the QOL “gives advantages” is silly.

So, what if everyone, and I do mean - everyone - started using Turbohud ? I mean, it does make the “game” significantly more “enjoyable”. Some may even argue the features it offers absolutely should be in the base game.
Now, Blizzard is in a bit of a predicament. Would they ban everyone ? Who would be left to pay for Bobby’s yachts ? I am extremely curious about the result of every single player using this 3rd party software.

Don’t worry, Blizzard will offer QoL improvements in the first $50 dollar expansion. Coming soon!

People need to stop thinking Blizzard is doing this because of incompetence. Everything they are doing is to keep players in the game longer. They know exactly what they are doing. The best thing you can do is stop playing. Do you know how fast Blizzard would fix things if that occurred? They probably have a bunch of QoL stuff ready to go, but aren’t implementing it because players are still playing.

I wish blizz would let legitimately smart people fix their games for them.

It’s sad.

From a technical perspective, Blizzard cannot detect you running TurboHUD without the Diablo 4 or Battle.net client running as malware. There’s a reason competitive games run standalone AntiCheat processes that are actually invasive on your system. Blizzard doesn’t do this. They use advanced detection software to analyze keystrokes and cross reference to millions of human user samples, as well as data trends from your own account.

It is literally impossible for them to know you are using THUD unless you openly admit it or record your account information and game play of using the features.

Google Blizzard “Warden”. That is the old version. I don’t know what they call the new version. It would be very naive to think that Blizzard does not have multiple detection methods going at once.

Yes, it’s the software they use to detect automation. They compare character movements and interactions to live players, as well as your character data history. They can detect injections to their own client. TurboHUD does not interact with the Diablo 4 client, therefore, it’s not able to access anything outside it’s own written memory bits. This is my field of work. I’m not condoning the use of 3PS just stating facts.

They do not read system memory.

correct that is the old version it was changed if I remember right. Honestly just wish diablo allowed addons or something Turbohud 4 looks to be so promising on the aspects of QOL changes.

That is not all Warden does. Feel free to think you are safe though if you want. The EULA bluntly tells you they are monitoring your computer memory and that you authorize them to do it.

Consent to Monitor. WHILE RUNNING, THE PLATFORM (INCLUDING A GAME) MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER, CONSOLE, OR MOBILE DEVICE’S MEMORY FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING EITHER CONCURRENTLY WITH A GAME OR OUT OF PROCESS. AN “UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM” AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE PROHIBITED BY SECTION 1.C. ABOVE. IN THE EVENT THAT THE PLATFORM DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, (a) THE PLATFORM MAY COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO BLIZZARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION YOUR ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE; AND/OR (b) BLIZZARD MAY EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER. Additionally, certain Games include a tool that will allow your computer system to forward information to Blizzard in the event that the Game crashes, including system and driver data, and by agreeing hereto you consent to Blizzard receiving and/or using this data.

Blizzard can’t delve that far into a player’s personal computer. That is why most third party software can’t or won’t be detected, simply because it is beyond what Blizzard is allowed legally to access on player’s personal computers. All their huff and puff about these HUD overlays aren’t going to stop players from using them if the game isn’t able to detect them. Third party apps have a wealth of knowledge at this point to know exactly what to do with “Warden” type software.

It’d be pretty stupid of them to not include a consent to monitor in their EULA… I mean, I get you’re a MVP, but, yeah. Sheeesh.

My system hasn’t received any read requests from Battle.net or the Diablo 4 client since I’ve had it installed, so, I’ll leave it at that.

D4 is not a singleplayer game. It does have trading. And as such, cheating impacts the player economy.

If however you cheated in D2 singleplayer, nobody would care.

Guys. He gets that it’s against the terms of service. He’s just asking why.

Saying it’s because it’s “in the EULA” or “against the terms of service” is a circular argument. Can you answer the question stating why you think Blizzard specifically called this out?
