Anyone else farming hordes hard for GA pieces, if so you had much luck ?
I’ve spent a few days doing almost nothing but running hordes in hopes to acquire some legendary pieces with at least one usable GA on them. As far as I know that’s the best method to farm GA gear with the 60 aether chest. I’ve lost track how many hordes I ran exactly but if I had to guess maybe 70 runs of different tiers from 3-7.
I got only one 3 GA piece, a weapon which the stats weren’t exactly what I hoped for but good enough that I was excited about that one drop. However the other 90% of drops with a GA were either not suitable for my chain lightning sorc build or the GA would end up being something garbage like life on hit.
Got quite a few 2 GA pieces some decent but not necessarily moving the needle much for my build or compared to what I already have equipped. Got a few uniques that werent upgrades and none with a GA on them unfortunately. I was curious for anyone else farming hordes what kind of luck you’ve had in the process or if you had any suggestions on things I’ve not mentioned or considered.
i’ve found a 3 GA bow with dex + health + Critical damage recently in a T6 hordes in hardcore this season
was quite nice and luckily it didn’t fail the tempering as i got everything i wanted on it (not perfect stats, sure, but i wouldn’t risk bricking it)

Well, i wouldn’t call it steel nerves or something (though, when the butcher show up unexpectedly i still fear a bit for my character indeed, even when i know i can kill it quickly, i still fear the reverse is sometime true if it attack me when i’am in a poison pool or frozen or something ) but very funny post 
And yea it was indeed the first thing i thought of : the fear of bricking it, i mean as i only play SSF this kind of items are very rare.
That being said, fear is still a big word, i mean the season is about to end , and even if intended to continue playing this character in eternal, this item would have been made not worth keeping for long considering the new itemization coming with VOH, so i would’ve only thought “ah, too bad”.
It’s still nice that items with GA have more tempering chances though , i would’ve bricked it if it wasn’t the case actually since it only had 2 tries left at the end. (hence why i said i wouldn’t try to perfect it further)
The scroll will be nice, but i wonder how rare it’ll be outside of the coop tower.

Don´t worry, it will be even worse post DLC.
You will have full mythic 10x times than you get first useable 2GA.
so you only get the one chest for gear? all my pieces are already 12/12 so I am starting to fish the other chest for better gear. No luck so far though.
Actually being seeing 3 GA items regularly when doing boss runs. Unfortunately these have been regular boss runs, so the 3GA has been on items in the 800 item level range. 
I did it for a while and then stopped when I realized that I was wasting time.
I always open the 60 one, but the other chests usually drop as random as the open world so I’d rather farm gear from bosses and helltide.
The GA to life per second and the GA to random resistances are simply way too high to the point that most 2GA items from there are a mix of three affixes in different combinations of: life per second, life per hit and random resistances.

So true and very annoying lol.
I do horde gear runs on newer characters and i’m not finding it particularly fruitful. I find i have better luck with gear in helltide and tormented boss. If i level any more characters and do horde less than t7, i’ll only be getting the 60 chest (which still usually drops trash) and then dumping the rest in gold.

At the start of Season 05 i was getting good Ancestral items and then very quickly I started getting things that were useless. It’s still like this. I’ve been playing everyday and I still have not changed my first semi decent Ancestrals (only 1 GA)
Everything just gets sold and salvaged. Even Uniques are all crap versions.
I haven’t done Tempering in weeks because nothing that drops is even worth Tempering lol

Figures as I made this post earlier, I just got back from my lunch break. I work from home, so I was able to cram in a T3 horde just now to blow through it quickly for the 60 chest. Actually got a decent 2 GA dagger, GA on intelligence and damage then regular affix crit damage.
Surprisingly RNG didn’t screw me tempering. Got crit damage and chance for chain light projectiles to hit twice. Got real nervous as first 3 attempts aiming for crit damage I think game kept giving me overpower. I was like yup another promising item about to get bricked. Then it took 3 or 4 tries to get the chain light X 2 temper, so definitely got lucky for once heh.
I did off an on for about two weeks, both the GA chest and some of just popping as many of the regular legendaries as I could.
Never got anything good.

I got a pile of 3 GA but that’s from hundreds of this or that i.e. the frequency is about as low as mythics. Let’s not talk about mythics with GA. Got my first one. I am so glad mythics can’t be tempered but…
But back to legendary 3 GAs, yes I have gotten more than a few but that came from hours of farming. Most of them were useless GAs with 2 or more being unusable for my build. What is worse is that a good majority of the few usable 3 GAs (read all but one) were bricked from tempering. I know it’s RNG but dayum things gotta be weighted.
So for me, 3 GAs dropping is like a Schrodinger test. Happy and scared at the same time.

I’ll see a 2-3 GA item from the bonus chest maybe once every 3 runs or so.
But most of them are worthless. I’m finding little point in trying, too, because my Andy Rogue is blowing through T8 with almost everything being 1 starred. I think the only thing that’s 2 starred is my ring.
As for the 20 Aether chest? Seems pretty rare to get a 2-3 GA item out of there.
Anyone notice that Life on Hit tends to appear on 2-3 GA items? Annoying.

If life on hit and life per second were useful affixes, i would be rolling in BiS gear.

Yeah so many of the GA items that dropped have had life on hit or something wack like lightning resist or heh.
I’d say since I actually focused on running the T3 horde solely to open the 60 chest, I’ve had decent luck. Other day got a 3 GA staff with intelligence, mana on kill and resource cost reduction. After tempering up and MW to 4 it’s pretty nice. Gotten some useful one GA items I’ve stashed.
Been kind of fun actually, even know it’s just like pulling a slot machine. If the hordes get changed going forward in next season/expansion I’ll actually miss being able to plow through them to juat see what GA gear may drop. At least it gives me something else to do at odd hours of the day/night as there isn’t much else for me to do at this point.

I had some luck getting GA items out of the 20 chest too, at least in the beginning of the season. Since the goblin event, I spent most of my embers on chances at Stygian stones. The 20 item chest treated me right on more than one occasion and it was a fun way to gear up. Sometimes it was piles and piles of junk and every now and then there would be something with multiple stars. Felt like a good reward for the time investment. Plus slaying helltide demons invigorates me.

I noticed that opening 20 chests gives more GA. I’ve also found Uber Bosses is another effective way to get GA. However, if you’re aiming for 2 or 3 GA, Helltides tend to be a better option based on my experience.

Blizz didn’t put hordes on the ptr because they weren’t done nerfing it yet. Rumor has it that a useful item dropped from the ga chest during testing. So they’re fixing that.
