Yeap this is the case unfortunately.
We stripped down all usable affixes to clean up the additive mess. But then we left a few to keep things “spicy”. Now to avoid drowning 2-3 GA items that are BiS in a day, we add weights and 19/20 drops are instant dismantle.
I am all in for the loot chase but the current number of item affixes, free 1GAs and ease of access to mythics do not allow blizz to let go of the weights. Just another case of pleasing the crowds for multiple seasons, turned into an a state that calls for a rework.
The thing is that this game is not made for stuff like ‘‘life per second’’. In The Division games (RPG which Diablo is trying to mimic) you get those kind of affixes but they are actually useful. You can actually use armor per second or life per second while you find something better, then you get what you were looking for and you doubt if getting rid of that survival you’ve been enjoying while farming your new piece is worth it. We don’t have that in D4 because your life is usually 100 or 0 with no time to recover from a ‘‘no potion’’ situation, so why is that affix even a thing?
I mostly run Hordes for the Neathiron. I actually run Pit111 for GA items coz for some unknown reason, all of the items I’ve found with 3/4 GAs have come exclusively from it .
I find Hordes fun, but they definitely need some balancing.
Hellborne are so much better than any other modifiers. It’s not even close, especially if you get Invigorating. It sucks that Hellborne don’t spawn naturally. Nothing worse than getting Hellborne spawning on wave 10. I go for -
Hellborne mods
Aether Fiend mods
Normal kills 50% increase.
Spire mods.
Mass mods
Aether Lord mods.
Whatever the heck is left.
Sometimes I’ll throw in the Butcher mod. Once I had a Butcher mod and then his random spawn in the same wave. Now that was a fight. Wish more random stuff like that happened. Sometimes you’ll get the Helltide mouth, but that seems really rare.
Fully agree more random factors would enhance the experience. I avoid Lords like the plague! Not that they are hard or present a challenge, but because other mobs slow/stop spawn when a lord is active and this destroys my Aether for the run.
