Ruins of Eridu nerfed, Whats next? Just gonna kill all fun in the game?

When the game launched I was like OMG they listened they gave us the density we d2 and d3 players wanted. now its walking simulator 2023. Like I get it normal mode should have less mobs but it should ramp especially in nightmare dungeons like every 10 levels it should add maybe 1 more elite so it gets even more dense and rewarding. Also I dont know why they want less density every time they have tried in in a diablo game by the end of it they always increase it. In d3 they added way more in reaper of souls and in d2r they added more in Terror zones. Here we are agian making the same complaints. If they want slower combat the mobs need to be alot harder and drop gear that is super rare but has perfect stats. But the game systems are setup to require many drops to get even a remotely good roll then you have to find the right legendary affix with the perfect roll then find it again if you get a better item. So the current system requires lots of loot that is not perfect so that you get the 1 legendary affix that is perfect then the 1 rare that is perfect. So you need lots of items and you need lots of bad items to brake down so you can remake the item.

Whatā€™s pissing me off the most is that Blizzard does not respond to any of these thread at all. And thereā€™s quite a few of these which means the player base is extremely unhappy.

Blizzard super disappointing.

youā€™re confusing ā€œfunā€ with ā€œmetaā€. They brought the dungeon in line with the othersā€¦ oh noā€¦

they are just making it slower and less rewarding. The dungeon felt at least rewarding. And now there is nothing left what makes fun anymore

The servers canā€™t handle more density, this is the price you pay for an mmorpgesqe diablo experience you didnā€™t ask for. They can barely handle a handful of people being in towns, do you think they can just double the number of enemies across the board and not have their servers take a massive dump?

Itā€™d be great if they stopped forcing us to play a game thatā€™s already out the way they want it to be played, and not the way weā€™ve figured out how to play it. Donā€™t they know you suffer double when you take something once given, instead of not giving it to begin withā€¦

@previous poster/ redpanda, sounds like youā€™re saying they could fix it if they just had a single player optionā€¦ too bad they canā€™t make money off our analytics if weā€™re not connected to their matrix

Yeah I mean remember the insane amounts of density in d2/d3. But that worked because every area of the game was its own separate instance. Here in d4 itā€™s all sort of connected somehow or the graphics engine or the coding or I donā€™t know what Iā€™m not an expert but the game just doesnā€™t feel good. Itā€™s sluggish when previous diablo games felt snappy. It feels like Iā€™m playing underwater and everything happens half a second after it should. Canā€™t imagine what adding millions of more mobs for the servers to track would do to that.

I kinda know what you mean by the slower pace of things, however I almost enjoyed that for the first couple days, as it reminded me more of diablo 1 and diablo 2. At least when compared to the gen-x-oriented d3. It definitely feels less slow with mobility characters, like dash rogue or wolf druid. Canā€™t say for much else tho.

if they want us to farm different dungeons not the same one who got the best denisity then they should make it that if you complete different dungeon on your next dungeon is bigger drop rate and more monsters so every time you complete a new dungeon you chain them and every next dungeon have more monsters more loot

Yeah it must be SO fun spam doing 1 dungeon that takes 1min to clear for xp over 300 times a day.

Man thats totally my idea of fun aswell, god you casual gamers make me sick, go back to Fortnite bro, ARPGS arenā€™t meant to be easy peasy and fast.

What Blizzard considers ā€œend-gameā€ entails the ā€œlevellingā€ journey from 50 to 100, while for many of us ā€œend-gameā€ is what takes place after reaching max level (i.e. 100). This means that the journey to level 100 isnā€™t ā€œdesignedā€ to be fast but rather slow. Unfortunately this also means we have to adjust our expectations as once we reach level 100, there isnā€™t a whole lot to do. On the other hand, Blizzard must ensure there is sufficient ā€œtrueā€ level 100 end-game content available, which currently isnā€™t quite the case, besides levelling up your glyphs to level 21ā€¦ but for what ā€œend-gameā€ purpose? Iā€™m hopeful that Seasons will do their best at tackling these issues. Otherwise, it will indeed leave quite a sour taste in everyoneā€™s mouth.

Itā€™s mindboggling that Blizzard doesnt understand the issue here. Nightmare dungeons need to give more xp per hour than normal dungeons AND more loot with rares. In the end depending NM dungeon tier it has to have much higher chance giving ether unique item or higher item level gear. Make running NM dungeons desired other than just for upgrading glyphs. Sure in seasons people will push but apart that when you have done with glyphs upgrades?

This normal dungeon nerfing doesnt do good for game in long run. Casuals will mostly run normal dungeons and they are affected most with these changes.

They are keeping it grindy so when they sell XP boosts to you on the store you leap at the chance.

Same goes for the horrible stash and inventory space and no way to organise it like in PoE.

This is all going to go on the store.

i just run throught NM dungeon, the lack of mobs and elite really make the game less fun. you went into 2 room, and the mobs are scattered everywhere with lack of density. even diablo immortal did it better with mob density.

Sadly Blizzard just proved the obvious thing - itā€™s easy to nerf 5 dungeons, instead of buffing the other 110. Your laziness will cost you dearly when players start to walk away. Your XP grindfest design is terrible.

ARPGS are literally meant to be fast and hack and slashy killing bunch of monsters on screen and getting loot explosion they arent meant to be where you kill 5 monsters on screen at a time and then run for 10 seconds to next 5 monsters how can you call hack and slash rpg if theres nothing to slash? lmao go educate yourself CASUAL

This statement could not be more correct.

Why are you guys removing all the fun with a hack and slash game ?

You hit the nail on the head and I couldnā€™t agree more! High mob density is what we all want and for some reason they are reducing it! With this reduction in density, everything becomes way too easy and almost pointless, like itā€™s not even a challenge.

I was having so much fun running Ruins of Eridu. (Seriously it was the most fun I had in D4 so far at lvl 76) Sure the XP was great but it really just came down to all of the points you mentioned above. It had high mob density, new elite packs would spawn on top of you, and it kept you on your toes. It was a challenge, no bs, and therefore FUN!

This is completely the wrong direction to be going in in terms of dungeons. More mobs, less backtracking and objectives. Long story short we need more demon slaying in a fast pace challenging manner.

Iā€™d rather them bring the XP gains down from normal dungeons if they would just make all dungeons like Ruins of Eridu.

Also agree, NM dungeons need incentive and greater rewards that scale.

I really hope the D4 team are reading threads like this and taking note!
