Well, let’s be honest here. Loot in PoE rains from the sky at such an excessive rate that players already use a filter to block out 90% of the loot.
Ruthless doesn’t just reduce the loot by more than 90% but also removes tons of features from the game such as the crafting bench, vendor recipes, multiple events happening per map, etc.
We already get far less loot in Diablo 4 than you do in PoE so reducing it down to 2% would have us see like one item per 2 dungeons.
I’m not against them adding a tickbox harder difficulty the same way we have hardcore as an optional thing (actually might like to do that) but I think if Diablo 4 does it then they should do it in a good way rather than just copy the rules from PoE that sort of only make sense when you look at PoE’s flaws anyway.
Ruthless is a Chris Wilson “side project” that is slowly being forced down the throats of players in various ways. It’s universally hated by the majority of players and streamers and not remotely fun to watch nor play in.
In essence all this mode truly is in a nuthsell is a created mode of tediousness that he envisions folks find fun, which evidenced by the constant backlash and loathing of hearing the word Ruthless in PoE, people dont.
I wouldn’t mind seeing such an option, but the main issue fore is the ability to leech from other players during events in the open world due to the MMO-like mechanic. There should be an option for a completely solo open world with a drop-in for the world boss (or PvP) events only.
