Hi,
This is a Request for the Dev team to add a “Ruthless” type mode to the game. We have eternal (?) aka softcore and hardcore right now.
For those who do not know, Ruthless is in PoE, but is a harder game style mode and has less drop rates and where items have more value. The drop rate in Ruthless starts off at 2% and the player is always behind the item level. The world and mobs are harder as well, have more abilities and more mob density, more world events and things to give a fun and challenging experience.
“This is an additional character creation flag alongside Hardcore and Solo Self-Found that allows you to opt-in to extreme item scarcity and various other changes and challenges .”
This adds value to everything and almost every item. Items will not rain from the sky. The economy will thrive in all areas for trading. Everything has value for the most part that drops. Currency is very rare ect. The game is hard and takes time to progress. Skills and how you engage large groups is important and the world actually is a pleasure to explore and find things. As you do not just zip through all forms of content.
Maybe you could call it w/e mode you would like Blizzard. And possible drops rates would go like:
Normal: 2%
Veteran: 3%
Nightmare: 4%
Inferno / Hell: 5.5%
Just ideas. This game mode is actually very fun, I think it’s a little newer and is very popular. Best time I’ve had in an ARPG in a while, besides D4 Beta and looking forward to D4.
This is an awesome game mode and would highly recommend trying it out.
Thanks!

Maybe eventually, but they haven’t even got the base game balanced yet. Not the time to be adding new modes.

before they do that, i would like a seperation of trade and no trade modes.

drop rate isn’t going to be as in beta but lower, since in beta it was deliberately raised. and once you reach 50 and complete some campaign quest, you unlock higher wt difficulties so from that moment on if you start an alt, you’ll have exactly what you wish. fewer drops than beta, higher difficulty.
The game isnt out, maybe play at end game and see? Or did you play POE and think “hey ill make a post copying that idea”

How about just playing the game first big guy before making a request for Ruthless mode. D4 isn’t PoE and shouldn’t be.

We had ruthless mode by default when D3 launched. No, thx.

Would love a ruthless mode with trading. Would be where all the cool kids play.

I want more difficulty but not SSF and lower drop rates.
Absolutely down for more difficulties but I think the drop prates should be BETTER not WORSE when taking on harder difficulty modes.
i loved the idea of ruthless in PoE until they ruined it with no movement skills
they got a scuffed dash that has a big cooldown and only works on bosses. other than that i would totally play ruthless.
i like everything else that ruthless represents. no movement skill is just dumb though.
i would love an SSF mode tbh. only way to dodge jsp in a diablo game - unless you eliminate all trading i guess. i’d take that too

You mean where all the RMT bots and people buying items would play.
Fixed it for you.
Also; I hate ideas like ‘Please copy this idea wholesale from a different game!’ because it goes two ways:
- People ask for an idea lifted wholesale from a different game they like.
- People whine that game ‘stole [game’s] idea!’ and complain the devs are unoriginal.
So, pass.
mr B signed up on JSP not too long ago. he used to have a better mind
now he’s corrupted. dont worry about it too much
Yeah. The JSP simps are pushing hard for full trade so they can profit off legendary sales.
yup. and thats just a fresh small fish. imagine how bad the sharks with 20 years worth of stacking want it.
disgusting.
Shoot … add in not being able to respec to whatever mode you want and name it whatever … just so we can stop having people who don’t want respecs complain about those who do (and vice versa)
Give them each what they want
POE sucks but i wouldnt mind a ROOFLESS mode. even to replace hardcore mode. hardcore in an online game? gimme a JFL. i dont even ironman on XCOM. just the honest man save. too many bugs tbh
This sounds like something I would love honestly, once the game is in a solid state with balance I hope they add it. I’ve not tried it yet in PoE but I like this kind of stuff. I would play this sort of mode for sure to spice things up after I finish up with my main character for a season.
There is nothing wrong with requesting good game modes that a similar game has. The reason Blizzard is one of the best game companies in the world is thanks to taking good ideas and perfecting them in their own games for the masses. It would need to be made to fit D4 and not a 1 to 1 copy but Blizzard always does this.
100% would happen, that sort of mode would need to be SSF or have fairly limited trading. It would be a horrible idea to have free trade and would probably be a better idea to not even have the game mode than deal with the issues freetrade would create in it.
While a wholesale copy would be silly there is nothing wrong with a game using good innovative ideas from other games. What matters most is that the players are having fun with it, not who came up with the idea.
Someone who whines and complains that game “stole the idea of another game” is a fool. That’s how we make progress with nearly everything in life. You take good ideas and if possible further improve on them. That’s how WoW became the #1 MMO, they took ideas from EQ and other games and improved them while making the game more user-friendly.
I don’t get why so many people here seem so opposed to the idea when it would not change a thing for them as it would be opt in and fun for others.
youd have to try really hard to die anyways
alt-f4 literally time-travels you back in time a few milliseconds and scroll of escape gets you out of everything and gets used automatically if disconnect.
hardcore is just softcore with a bit of salt at this point lol
not my memory of it back on D2. back then i had 56k though LOL. phone rings? dead
Yeah that was really really dumb.
