Reminder: Maxroll Builds are not optimal

Been using this, made a few tweaks though

Yeah you almost have to work with the community to do a good job. They should take note

@Yliche I respeced my hota with the set up you had, it does feel way better, thanks a lot OP, and to be fair, Rax isn’t really playing barb these days, that guide is fairly outdated

Glad it helped. The issue I had was that someone in his chat brought up that the guides were outdated and Raxx took offense to it and proceeded to say how “up to date” his HOTA guide was and it’s the best there is available.

Quite honestly, almost everyone is using a modified version of Rob’s paragon as well so I think there’s still room for improvement on the paragon. I tried dabbling earlier to see if I can do something similar but in a way that we get reduced requirements for bonus rare nodes at the end. We’ll see where it lands.

ffs lay off the crack kid… ive never seen such a lengthy post be so incorrect on almost every single topic it talked about. does us all a favor… shut up and sit down… also actually make it to lvl 100 and beat lillith before claiming to do so… guaranteed you hang out in mobalytics streamers channels… that are honestly just there to give the rest of us someone and something to laugh at.

Dang, first good post I’ve seen on here. Yeah it’s a lot better to get builds off youtube that have a good planner and show results. Maxroll are just general guides to help you level pretty much or have a good base for an end game build, unless you have 100% optimal gear that matches the build, it’s not always the best method to follow.

copium is strong with you huh

Is grasping whirlwind really worth the affix slot for pushing with WW?

It barely procs for me. If we’re using basic skills for vulnerability/expectant, wouldn’t aspect of might be a good choice for damage reduction?

I don’t think that’s a bad choice. I personally really like grasping whirlwind and feel like I get a lot of procs. I don’t think might would be a bad choice here at all, though. It could be superior, but I’d have to test that next time I’m WW.

@Yliche, with the defensive options you recommended (no chall shout ranks and focusing on other raw defenses) I have 14.5k health, 9.4k armor, and ~40-45% dr for both close and fortify, currently cruising through 70-80 tier NM. Do you think higher chall shout ranks will be necessary if I want to push tier 100? Also, why is close dmg on weapons better than all the other +dmg in the same bucket? If you don’t mind, can I share some stat screenshots and get some recommendations on gear choices?

I love the pull affect but in my opinion so far at the higher end dungeons I don’t really want to pull them on top of me I try and scurt the fight so can gtfo when shouts drop

Oh, I just found your twitch channel, will definitely check it out later XD

After running some numbers, I don’t think challenging shout is as bad as I originally thought it was, but I still don’t think it’s optimal. It does have some niche uses where you want to survive uber lilith waves but I do think it’s probably worse for NMD push.

I don’t think those ranks are necessary to hit do a NMD 100 IMO. Although, on amulet you could drop move speed for T100 push and pick up +defensive skills or more raw dmg reduction and armor. You could also drop heavy handed on amulet for the same.

dmg to close enemies has higher roll potential than dmg with core skills. Now, if you have a really high ‘core dmg’ roll and a really low ‘close dmg’ roll, then the core dmg would be better, but close enemy dmg has higher potential rolls.

dmg to slowed enemies is worse because you have to hit them once to get value out of it to bleed/snare them, and it doesn’t work on bosses until they’re staggered (which is the biggest reason it’s not as good). Dmg to bleeding has a low roll potential I believe.

Yeah you can send me some stat screenshots over when I’m on twitch and I’ll review. I’ll try to get on in a bit. I have some cleaning around the house that I need to do today first.

You definitely don’t want to linger around long after shouts drop, but you’re really hoping for a vacuum super early into going in so that you can quickly kill everything and leave.

I think vacuum is better against certain mobs as well. It also can interrupt abilities, such as the big knights doing their slam (I believe this gets interrupted on vacuum), it helps pull in ranged mobs that are running away, etc. Cleaving is highly valuable for WW for fury gain, bleeding/slowing/mace stun procs, and disobedience stacks, plus you probably have “dmg reduction to close enemies” on chest/legs potentially or to bleeding enemies.

Edit:
I started running some excel napkin math on effective health for my barb.

Initial findings with my current is that more dmg reduction is better than max life on chest and legs. Although, some dmg reductions are conditional and may not work against uber lilith depending on how abilities are sourced, etc.

For example, if you want to survive waves on p1 lilith, DR while bleeding probably doesn’t help because she might not be bleeding while she waves you ( I think she dispels herself ).

Also, we don’t know how waves are sourced so DR to close/distant may or may not work against the waves. This would increase the value of +4 ranks to challenging shout on lilith, DR while fortified is the best DR, normal DR / health / armor % if you aren’t at 85% cap are all ideal picks for this fight if you want to tank things instead of dodging.

Although, in nightmare dungeons, you can probably stack DR while fortified, close, bleeding, and %armor is likely better for pushing. challenging shout isn’t a bad pick here if you have it, but I don’t think it’s better than the other DRs likely, but better than base DR.

The hard part is we don’t know the exact amount of armor that’s needed to hit armor cap on 154 mobs for T100s. If we assume it’s 15k armor and put disobedience on amulet, we need 8572 base armor to hit that. You can get 900 armor from iron skin elixir.

Also, unless I’m crazy, the max life you get from gear doesn’t appear to be scaled by paragons and gems…This would significantly reduce the value of max life as a stat. I put pants with no max life and no gems on it, and then replaced them with pants with 536 max life and no gems on the pants, and my max life moved exactly 536.

This means we probably need armor % on two pieces, helm/legs to hit 15k armor with disobedience on neck. This ups the value of challenging shout on chest. You can essentially get challenging shout on chest, armor%, or normal DR and all are decent enough picks.

What content is this for? I think the most intriguing part of this build is that he’s guaranteeing a stun from ground stomp to get retribution dmg and loading up with extra stun proc to try to perma stun I think? The ground stomp interrupts whirlwind I think though, which breaks your 30% dmg bonus and any snapshots I believe but the guaranteed stun seems like a good idea for sure.

I’d have to see earthquake aspect used but some feedback I have from looking at it:

I’d like to see how many lucky hits he’s getting to proc aspect of anemia and if it’s even worth it with a guaranteed stun and mace stun. I guess he’s trying to perma stun stuff in high nightmare dungeons?

I think the 4 extra pts into rallying cry are a waste since he probably overcaps fury with 1/5 while it’s on.

Enhanced challenging shout is generally bad because it removes your fortify on cast

extra pts in war cry are probably not where i’d put those extra pts either.

counteroffensive is 12% multiplicative dmg that i’d get

defensive stance isn’t bad either

imposing presence is really good

martial vigor isn’t a bad choice either instead of those other pts

supreme wrath of the berserker is bad

I only skimmed the paragon board but the extra dmg to elites he pushed for in the carnage tree and berserking damage probably give very low value for the pts spent there.

I like the ground stomp usage for retribution though and I love the thinking outside the box with the stun integrations into this WW build.

I mean. The classes themselves are trash, cuz itemization and stats were designed by interns, so it’s whatever.

Maxroll also doesn’t advertise their builds as Able to clear NM100, as there is no point in clearing Nm100. It’s not any worse than any other site for new players.

It’s good PSA to not blindly follow any service. All those sites: maxroll, mobalytics etc…all Garbo,

I never understood why people follow meta builds. Why are you going to allow someone to tell you how to play your character? Half the fun of playing video games is figuring it out for yourself.

I bet all you that follow meta builds, also follow walk throughs the first time you play a game.

People find other ways that they prefer to have fun. Not everyone finds it fun doing trial and error on builds, spending their gold/resources when they’re only playing a handful of hours of week.

Some people only complete the story after a month of playing and that’s all they wanted to do.

Others might want to push to end game ASAP and have fun doing uber lilith and pushing nightmare dungeons, etc.

Point is, fun is subjective to a person.

Not everyone is great at theory crafting and it’s not fun to them getting curb stomped on content repeatedly.

I’m always looking for better info. I’ve gotten some info from Raxx that has helped. I primarily look at Wudi’s stuff as I play a Rogue. Where sir, do you get your info from? I’d love to see some better or more updated Rogue info, if it exists. I do find it peculiar that Wudi’s best builds are not at Maxroll, but you can only find them to use by finding his Youtube video explaining the build. I’m currently using his Barrage/DT build, and was about to swap to his new “meta” build, Flurry/RapidFire to try it out.

I see a lot of people saying they are bad, and there’s better info, but so far, not seeing any of the info. The D4 builds site that was quoted was every bit as bad, so I hope that’s not where you’d try to redirect me.

This was me responding to someone who wanted Murderinc’s build. The video link is in the notes of the planner and stat priorities etc.
