So the devs were either full of bs, or had no idea what they were talking about.
Or even worse: both.
As it should be…if you cater to the 10% player base you will wind up with only that 10%.
D4 is a casual ARPG. It is what it is.
I dont even know if we can still call it an arpg after S7. We will see what S8 brings.
And?
If i got the tools and i don’t use them, i don’t deserve to be in T4.
Simplest as that!!!
I was explaining why true casuals won’t be in T4 next season despite the claim of some people and a streamer. That’s kind of what the thread is about.
Thanks for clarifying that. It’s good your experiences are there among the rest.
This cheap American Lost Ark clone has always been easy and boring.
This discussion reminds me of the No True Scotsman fallacy.
Whenever someone says casuals will be able to do something, someone comes up with a definition of casuals that means they won’t.
Even casual players can get to level 60 in 3 months!
No they can’t - true casuals only play with 5 basic skills, no aspects, blue items, for 3 minutes per day and their left stick inoperative!
The latter goes for them claiming T4 was supposed to be aspirational in the first place. This whole 10% thing is likely the same deal.
Have you played LA? The 2 games are not like each other at all . This place really attracts some special folks.
So S7 was even easier to reach T4 and 50% didn’t do it.
Making the game harder and take longer to get to T4 will likely lower that number.
But sure, the “casuals” who have the time, play a good enough build, and find good enough gear, will get to T4. Not sure how that’s some sort of stunning revelation or changes the reality that less will be in T4 next season (assuming the game is easier with broken boss powers)
It’s because a certain pool of hardcore players have been masquerading as casuals because they want the game to be as easy and as fast possible. Hence the true casuals reference.
If people were honest about what they wanted and didn’t try to gaslight us and hide behind the casual moniker while being in fact very hardcore when you see their posts and what they’re saying, we wouldn’t have to be so pedantic with the terminology.
To be fair, some people have the luxury of downtime and internet access at times they aren’t able to actually play. And just appearing to be articulate and knowledgeable about a game doesn’t mean one is actually good at the game itself.
So don’t put too much weight in how people appear on forums. It doesn’t translate that well into actual playtime or ability or even attitude. I consider myself fairly casual in the sense I don’t worry about maximising efficiency. But I have enough free time to play quite a lot of hours. Judging from my 79h in S7 I think about 10-20h per week?
Casual players that play 2 hours a day will never see Torment 4 with all the changes they made for Season 8. So essentially Diablo 4 devs do not give a flying rats behind for casual players and I believe the casual players should leave the game uninstalled until D5 comes out. All you hardcore players no one cares about your opinion so quit talking down on casual players.
Fair enough. But I don’t think we’re talking about the same group of people necessarily. Of course, being knowledgeable about the game and being able to articulate yourself in the forums doesn’t make you a hardcore player. I am specifically talking about people that cry and moan about not being able to achieve the highest difficulty or activity in the game as easy and as fast as possible, while also claiming how casual they are.
I’m a very frequent commenter these days here in the forums and I bet you’d think I’m a very hardcore player, naturally. In reality, I never was very hardcore but I also wasn’t very casual either. The thing is I never cared about highest difficulties and highest NMD’s, etc. and I think most casual players do not either. That’s the disconnect I see and I call out with these people. It’s completely antithetical to care so deeply about such hardcore achievements and activities without being very hardcore yourself.
Dude Torment 4 is Pit 55… if those casuals were able to do Pit 50-70 in S7 (which wasn’t hard), they’ll be just fine in S8. Those casual people aren’t the ones rushing to level 60 in the first day; they’ll be more than fine doing it and most of the content in a 3 month period.
If someone plays casually, they may get all they want to do done in a month, or a month and a half. And there is nothing wrong with that.
The difficulty curve is only really felt toward the upper ends, not really the lower or middle for semi-cohesive builds. I think you are mistaking the term casual with someone who knows absolutely nothing about the game or zero experience or grasp of these types of games.
I highly doubt this. 2 hours a day they will hit T4 by the 2nd or 3rd week depending on how efficient they are.
Why do you say this? Why is it bad to have the hardest mode actually be a little difficult? Anyone that wants to get to T4 can get there.
Because, clearly, he’s not a casual Andy no matter what he says. He just wants to blast the game as fast as possible, as quickly as possible and the game being remotely harder is a massive obstacle for him.
