Crashed again, even with all the special NVIDIA features disabled. This is out of hand at this point

I stableized my connection now the game keeps encountering an error after 30min-hour of play time. This is really bothering me. I want to enjoy the new expac and season and so I canā€™t.

Device name BabyGirl
Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Coreā„¢ i5-13600K 3.50 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
And to be clear I am running on a SSD, so I am more than a little annoyed at the issues Iā€™m having because I canā€™t just chalk it up to ā€œold pcā€

So my game seems to be somewhat stable (eating A LOT of RAM but it at least doesnā€™t seem to be leaking) . I passed the 2h crash point. Iā€™m going to drop some of my specs and in-game options and maybe help somebody?

My driver version is 565.90.
I have all NVIDIA features turned off (no DLLS, no reflex, no frame generation).
My quality preset is textures on high, filtering x16, the rest is either off or medium. No RTX.

Iā€™d rather run the game on higher graphic settings but it is what it is.

Blizz, thanks for STILL not saying anything and leaving your entire community in the dark, looking for solutions on our own.

I wonder when, if ever they help with this. Maybe I should just refund the game. Thereā€™s nothing like crashing in the middle of something with a party, only to have you AUTO DISBAND and have to start over or miss the thing entirely. AMD and NVIDIA are the top GPU providers. Nobody tested this for over 2 hours?

Iā€™m not even getting an error. just a crash screen with a long code for support, and ā€œCloseā€ or ā€œrepoen.ā€ thereā€™s nothing that says what caused it. Not an ā€œout of memoryā€ on my end, Iā€™ve got 64GB RAM and a 4070Ti super with 16 VRAM. Canā€™t run out of memory. I monitor it and when it crashes itā€™s not even using enough to cause a crash.

Iā€™m getting the same issue. Game will run fine for a time, then it will lock up when going to a new zone such as using town portal, porting from the map, existing dungeon, or just clicking the exit from an area. The game will show the loading screen, then it will load the UI on a black background and all I can do is open the main menu. I did not have these issues before today with VoH. I have made no changes to my system since VoH launch and Iā€™ve even lowered my graphics settings in D4 to medium without ray-tracing in hopes that will resolve the problem. My graphics drivers are up to date.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
RAM: 32GB
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi)
GPU: XFX - OC THICC III Ultra AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB

It is getting particularly frustrating to play the game and Iā€™m quite disappointed. Needless to say that any further purchases in-game I had been considering are on-hold until I can actually play the game reliably again.

My latest error code after the game crashed, yet again. This has been happening a lot, as in, at least once an hour. I hope you guys can figure this out.

As others have said, seems to crash about an hour after playing for a while. Feels memory leakish.

this is what chat GPT told me about my error logs

  1. Streamline Plugins: The logs again indicate that DLSS, Reflex, and other streamline plugins are not found or failing to update. This may be due to misconfiguration or an issue with the plugins themselves, despite being installed. Here are the relevant log lines:

less

[streamline][warn] No updated version found for plugin: dlss_0
[streamline][warn] No updated version found for plugin: reflex_0
[streamline][warn] Disabling DLSS-G since it is not supported on current hardware

Despite having the RTX 3080, which does support DLSS and Reflex, the game disables these due to plugin issues. This may indicate that the plugins are either incorrectly installed or not properly integrated with the game.
2. LocalPrefs.txt Settings: Looking at your configuration in the LocalPrefs.txt file:

  • DLSS is enabled (DLSS "1")
  • DLSSG (DLSS for Generative AI) is disabled (DLSSG "0")
  • Reflex is set to 2, which typically means enabled with boost (Reflex "2").However, since the logs suggest that the game is failing to detect or load these plugins, it might be beneficial to temporarily disable DLSS and Reflex to check if that stabilizes the game:
  • Set DLSS "0"
  • Set Reflex "0"
  1. GPU Settings: You are using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. The logs suggest that the GPU is detected properly:

scss

[Game] NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (0x10de|0x2216)

However, the streamline features are not functioning as expected.

Recommendations:

  1. Disable DLSS and Reflex in the LocalPrefs.txt file and test the game again.
  2. Verify that your NVIDIA Control Panel settings are set to default or optimized for performance.
  3. If you still encounter crashes, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling your NVIDIA drivers, and make sure to do a clean install (using the ā€œPerform a clean installā€ checkbox during installation).

Try these steps, and let me know if the crashes persist after making the adjustments!

Thanks - this did help, but Iā€™m still crashing FYI. Helped my friend too, who crashes all the time, but less often after this at least.

Can we get an updateā€¦or at least an acknowledgement for this issue? Please and thank you!

Iā€™m also still crashing. While I appreciate you being helpful, this isnā€™t helpful. I, too, assumed it was NVIDIA features causing this. Disabling them does not remedy the situation.

When you all crash, is it with an actual error and title? I only get the tech support long code at the bottom, with only ā€œcloseā€ and ā€œreopenā€ but it doesnā€™t say what kind of crash it was (doesnā€™t say anything like ā€œout of memoryā€ or ā€œfenrirā€)

Just to further add, I reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver (clean installation) and did a scan and repair on Diablo 4 in the battle.net app and still had a forced restart after ~30-40mins of playing. All I did was open an inventory page.

You might benefit from the following if you havenā€™t tried it already:

-Diablo IV has run out of memory - #103 by DTMAce-1687

Have any of you looked at your fenris logs to see if you can locate the start of the error when it crashes?

You can run out of virtual memory. If you are monitoring it, make sure to monitor the ā€œCommittedā€ memory section under the main memory performance page in Task Manager.

One of the reasons I post about this in various threads is because I had experienced it back in January. In my case, it was upgrading to a 4080S from a 3070Ti that caused it. Back then I was not running a swap file at all, as I have notoriously never used swap files for years. But when I upgraded the card, I started getting out of memory errors. Turns out that having double the memory on the GPU caused the system to try to allocate more virtual memory. So I had to enable the swap file.
