Random Crashing with 2.0 - Never Happened Before Update

It’s definitely a memory leak. running a memory cleaner while playing, once I see it climb beyond a certain point I trigger it and usage goes back down. Played for 4hrs straight the other day with no crashes. Both before and after recent update. Was crashing between 45 min and 2 hours before.

this is definitely something the devs need to look at. It’s not a player issue, it’s a developer’s lack of skill issue.

More crashes, I think this will be my last post here. No response from devs prove they dont care, because we know they know. Ill play other games while waiting on PoE2, i have ALOT of backlogs. Ill never spend full price for another blizzard product again.

Final 2 errors in 2hrs of playing today, im done.

It simply isn’t improving. Booted while just standing still in town.

People are reporting going to old Nvidia drivers brings more stability so it could be something to do with D4 VoH and the new Nvidia drivers not working well together

There has been a lot of this yes.

And many claim their system is running a lot better on the 561.09 driver from Sept 11th.

But installing the driver is hit or miss. Some have fixed it with a roll back. Some have fixed it by uninstalling then installing the older one. Some have had to use DDU to remove the current driver then install the older one.

I have personally stayed on the Jan 31st driver which is much older. Old enough in fact that when I go into the game’s settings page, it says at the top in red that my driver is outdated. lol

However, working just fine. Since FrameGen is still on hiatus, I have disabled Distortion, Chromatic Aberration, and turned off all Ray Tracing. FPS is now more stable and less prone to fluctuate, even in towns. And I have Crossplay fully enabled.

Please note, I have not had any errors, crashing, freezing or the like. But since the expansion/patches, the performance has been a bit more… Janky than before, and I’m sure a lot of that is the FrameGen not being there to assist.

Anyway.

Hang in there I guess.

I just went to 561.09 and played for about 6 hours straight in every type of game mode and really pushed and it didn’t crash or slow down once. Something for me clearly is causing crashing with newer driver. That’s all I changed. Happy to be able to play without fear of crashing again

FYI, still having the crashes after todays patch as well.

Nope, this is not an absolute solution. I have set different heights for virtual memory and it does not matter, every about 1 or 2 hours it crashes to fenris.

I don’t think I ever said it was. Like anywhere.

I said it was A solution. Not THE solution. Nor will it fix every scenario. Primarily this will help systems that are actually giving an out of memory error. Further you can also monitor the virtual memory usage to ensure you weren’t running it out or nearly out. (committed in Task Manager->Performance->Memory)

If you were to set a swap file, with both min and max values to 32768, that is plenty. If that doesn’t help, then obviously the problem you are having isn’t going to be solved with that solution.

And I have stated this before in multiple posts. But it IS a solution for some.

Just like not using the latest video driver is a proven solution. The best results right now are with the 561.09 driver. And if rolling back/uninstalling and installing that driver fail, you may need to actually use the DDU tool and follow its directions fully to see results.

However that won’t fix every problem either.

But those two things do fix a lot of issues.

This has happened to me since 2.0 launch. Every 1,5 - 2.5h or so the game crashes and I get the fenris popup error window. Might add that the game uses way to much ram, sometimes between 20-30gb.

My system
Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Geforce RTX 4080 Super
64GB DDR5 @ 6000mhz
Windows 11 home 24H2 (OS language: Swedish)

Latest fenris error code: 18C8E214-84A3-4083-97FE-F72EEFC7E9CB

A note!
If I restart the game every hour It never crashes, still, this should not happen, every other game is fine.

Same here, since VoH the game crashes so often, never done that pre VoH, it crashes in various situations, like main menu, tempering, killing bosses, watching chest items … and many more. Plz fix this or help us, its not fun having crashes all the time!!!

13900k geforce 4090, 64gb ram, watercooled cpu
every driver up to date

Nvidia dropped a new driver yesterday. I’ve updated to it but have not had a chance to play a sustained amount of time to see if there are still crashes.

For those that rolled back, I’m curious what the outcome is if anyone is able to update/test for a sustained amount of time or if there are still crashes. If you do, don’t forget to undo the graphics changes you did to offset the crashing (if any).

The updated driver doesn’t do anything to fix the problems. Just so you know.

Me to I am crashing every 5-25 minutes.
This game is extremely frustrating.

PC Specs:

  • MSI 4090 Suprim Liquid X
  • Ryzen 7950X3D
  • G.Skill Z5 6000 64GB
  • ASrock Tiachi Carrara X670E
  • Samsung 980 Pro

I just wanted to show here to let you know what i did to resolve the crashing issue. Yes, i was having this problem for many days since VOH release. And i spent more time in internet looking for a fix than playing the game. So, i tried many things (gpu drivers, reinstalling game, increasing the page file ram, and many other small changes in game and system. One day i found a player who fixed crashing doing this: disabling hardware acceleration in windows + browser.

So i gave it a try, also at the same time i reduced fps to 100 instead of 144 (probably innecesary but 100 is more than enough), and lowered like 3 graphic settings from high to medium (i dont think at all this helped but anyway…). So since then i have been playing 5 days without a single crash.

I hope this helps someone else and not just me, good luck.

I am rolled back to 561.09 and still crashing to desktop at random times and didn’t have any changes to my graphics setup.

D4 Devs - Can you please send me a bunch Bundled Herbs since buffs don’t persist through logout or crashes?? Do something to assist us with mat losses. I can’t farm fast enough with your crash issue.

Just wanted to give my own personal update. On recent drivers and the patch pushed today completely got rid of lag and jittery play. Haven’t played long enough to see if still getting a fenris error

After Patch today i have every 5-10 min. Crashes to the Desktop or i have Disconnects!

Totaly unplayable after the Patch…this is a catastrophe.

I’m really angry…

sorry for the bad english - Google Translater-
